After years of dormancy, of being in the background...
It was time.
Shanghai, after leaving his home and entering into the Japaen society after years of isolation, approached the gates of the Imperial City. Something compelled him to do this, to return to this great city of magic and science.
"Shanghai, apprentice magic user, requesting entry!" he declared. He didn't have any papers, any documents... But...
Relax... something in his head said, assuring him. I will handle this, should trouble arise...
((Question! Is having XANAcore in your head (Well, at least until he fully gains control) considered godmoding? Because it's like, ya know, completely leegul.)

From high above, ontop of a stone pillar which the gate was bound to, a guard called out, "State your purpose in the Imperial City!"

"Damn!" Shanghai shouted, accidentally voicing his thoughts.
"Wait..." He mumbled, thinking to himself.
"Ah, I've got it!"
"I've come to... Uhh... Pursue magical knowledge, and devote myself to the glory of Japae!"
Yeah... That'd work...
(("In his head" means, well, not really "in his head," because he's a reincarnation, but the personality is within him. He'll overtake Shanghai soon.))

The gates glowed red before turning to water which could easily be walked through.

Shanghai took a deep breath, and stepped towards the gates.
Once he was touching the water, he screamed, expecting to be vaporized.
"Oh, hey... cool." He muttered, stepping through the non-lethal gates.
