Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that, in order to solve a dispute regarding AM/IAM fields and similar concepts, we're going to hold a board-wide chat in the chatbox tomorrow. We will begin the chat at 7:30 PM EST, in my private channel to keep the discussion separate from the public channel.
This will touch upon what the definition of magic will be in the context of this board, as well as working together to figure out how AM/IAM objects will function. If you would like to participate, please reply to this thread saying so. I will update the list periodically to reflect who's joining.

I say fuck it. We shouldn't have to explain fucking magic. We never did before! Not through all of the OK, GE, why SP? Just because Orph wants to be a cock sucking prick and call it out? Well fuck him, he didn't start the damn RP, if he wanted to technically explain magic, he should have fucking been there in the start. Yet we now get limited even on MAGIC! Excuse me... there's something entirely wrong with that. Magic and Fantasy are "the impossible," yet now its limited. Fucking, fuck that.

That's what I'm going to bring in the bloody chat. The RP is getting too strict. Magic doesn't have to be explained... "How do you do that?" "MAGIC!" "How does it work?" "MAGIC!" Now... it's more like "How does it work?" "Well, the energy from magic... blah, blah, blah..." It's not right. It should be magic. Simple as that. If anyone demands explanation? One word: magic. That's it. That's all one needs to explain. For AM fields? If magic is a simple as magic, then AM fields should be as simple as magic.
But yeah... didn't think of that... boycotting the damn thing. It's gonna be a damn flame war in there... most would come from me and Orph. No point in even joining the chat if I'm actually going to argue against the topic at hand in the chat. I'm a tech user, and I rarely used magic, but that doesn't mean I won't defend what magic is and what it's meant to be, to be fucking different. Magic in the end is pretty much unrequested technology. Yeah... boycotting it... and you pretty much can't do much without me in it. I'm a tech user and rely heavily on science, but even I know that I explained magic too much.
Magic is absolute. AM fields are as absolute as magic. End of story.
Explaining is limiting it, Nisorin. If I explain how one thing works, then that means it has to be stuck to how it works. It won't be as flexible. Explaining is pretty much adding rules to one thing, and rules add limits. Magic isn't supposed to be explained, anyway, so why not AM fields, too? They are the counterpart of something that shouldn't be explained, so why should they be explained?

I agree with Gaser when it comes to magic not being supposed to be explained. You cannot really explain magic. Its not possible to scientifically explain it.
But I disagree with the absolute-ism. I think that with enough magic attacks they would be able to overwhelm an AM barrier. It just takes effort and a lot of magic, at least so you fry the system generator.

I think I'll join too. I haven't encountered AM yet, so maybe now would be a good time to join and figure it all out so when I do, I'll be that much informed as well.

Honestly I think I can understand why people would want magic explained (and limited) I mea otherwise it's a little like godmodding. You know?

Explained? Yes. Godmodding? Nuh uh. SP doesn't have too much of a problem with god modding on magic, and when we do, members can call out on each other saying "oh, by the way, your magic is haxxorz."
By the way, in case any of you haven't noticed yet, Magic already is limited. levels 1 through 6 guys. Hellooo?

Well technically level six is an 'event only' thing not that I have any idea what an event is. And if magic really was unlimited and didn't need to be explained then I could oh say...make an armor that can withstand several nukes and explain it by saying it's MAGIC.

I can't, I won't be here at 7pm. I don't even have internet. They only way I can get on shattered is because my landlord likes me and has an extra computer that she lets me use, unfortunatly she leaves before 7pm. Otherwise I would totally be a part of this chat.
