So SP, it has come to my attention that you guys have no idea where the hell the chat is. Or to be technical, IRC. Make no mistake, we have one, but it's a little out of the way.
I, Zai, shall guide you to it!

Ah, the board index. It's so nice. ... And boring. Why do you guys stare at it all day anyways? Don't tell me you don't, because I have proof a lot of people like to do it right here: http://shatteredplanes.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=c14eoilf318erv4i58c1cd0gk7&topic=3778.0
But that's beside the point. I'm supposed to lead you to the chat. Now if you'll look at the bar with all the text on it... it says 'home, help, search...' Yeah, that bar. Look at it.
I'm having trouble finding it myself actually. It's more hidden than a-

Oh, there it is.
Anyways, click on it, and you'll be whisked away to...
This lovely screen here. It'll ask a username from you first, but other than that, you're free to chat.
Now that you about the chat and where it is, I'll teach you about a few of the commands. I fail at using IRC, so it'll be a learning experience for both of us.
/me [message]
You know what this does.
/away [message]
This command marks you as 'away.' Useful if you're afk and if anyone tries to directly message you, they get a nice little message saying "[person] is away: [message]"
To take off your away status, just type /away with no message.
/invite [person] [channel]
Brings a fellow user not on the same IRC channel they're not on onto it. Or at least it'll invite them to it.
/join #shatteredplanes
Want to join a channel? Type this in and it'll get you in it.
/list
This lists all the channels in the status window.
/nick [name]
This changes your username. Spaces, periods, and I think some other characters are not allowed
/quit [message]
Quits the channel you're on and disconnects. It'll display the message to everyone when you do quit.

We know it's there we just don't like to use it. 'Cause no ones ever on.
-
No one's ever one because no one bothers to go and wait for others to come on. I was on there for almost all of last night and I chatted with a few people, waiting for other people to come on.
-
If it could be embedded on the main areas of the forum like the other chat was, we'd probably have more activity. I dont usually use it, because the few times I've logged onto it nobody was on. Then when I go to post or something Nis or K2 or someone's already had a small conversation and left, so...:/

There are a few other rules as well, that apply to the whole network. If you don't understand something in these rules, please don't hesitate to ask.
IndirectIRC Rules: http://indirectirc.com/?page_id=35
Any rules that say network channels do not apply to SP.

Moving this to News.

Alright, guys. Just some ground rules so we don't all act like barbarians.
1. No drama. If you have an issue with something or someone, keep it in a private chat.
2. No harassment.
3. No impersonating others. Playing around is fine, trying to seriously pass yourself off as another member is not.
4. No flaming.
5. No Justin Bieber.
This applies to EVERYONE, OPs included. Thank you.

We do have a webchat. Unfortunately, it is not very reliable at the moment. There is a possibility that you will be unable to use it to connect. However; you can very well try. The link is as follows:
http://shatteredplanes.com/forum/index.php?action=chat
You can connect to the server using your own client with the following info:
irc.indirectirc.com
#shatteredplanes

We have prepared this guide to instruct you on how to connect to the IRC via Pidgin, a rather reliable client which also can connect to AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Gtalk, and a variety of other services. You can download Pidgin by visiting it's official website at the following location:
http://www.pidgin.im/
To connect to the IRC...
1. Select the "Accounts" menu at the top menu bar of Pidgin, next to "Buddies" and "Tools".
2. Select Manage Accounts.
A popup box should come up.
3. Press the button that says, "Add..."
Another box should come up.
4. Under the drop-down menu that says Protocol, select "IRC".
5. Under "Username" type in a username. Remember, impersonation is against IRC rules.
6. Make up a password. Place it in the password input box.
7. In the "Server" box, type in irc.indirectirc.com
8. Press "Add".
You should receive a message from "NickServ" that says something like this:
(9:41:47 PM) NickServ: (notice) Welcome to IndirectIRC, Testing2323! Here on IndirectIRC, we provide services to enable the registration of nicknames and channels! For details, type /msg NickServ help and /msg ChanServ help.
(9:41:47 PM) NickServ: (notice) Testing2323 is not a registered nickname.
9. In response to NickServ, type in the following:
register PASSWORD EMAIL
Replace "PASSWORD" and "EMAIL" with the password you want to use and the email you want to use.
Note, you should only have to complete step nine the first time you connect.
10. In your buddy list, go to Buddy --> Join a Chat.
Yet another box will come up. Select "IRC" under "Account" and type in "#shatteredplanes" under Channel. Leave the password field blank. Join. You should be connected to the SP Chat.
