Title: A Pleasant Surprise
Post by: Ragnar the Red on June 09, 2011, 05:17:34 PM
Zaigen Was walking down the streets of the capital. He had only just recently registered to become a senator, and he was trying to think of ways for him to campaign. He didn't want to do what some of his competitors were doing though. Doing good deeds for your own image was doing a selfish disservice to the people. That's what his views were. He wasn't going to be extra nice just to get into office. Honesty was the best policy. Being honest was how he intended to win this election.

He walked into a restaurant. He was famished. The only worker he could see was on the phone, undoubtedly with a customer who would be having his food delivered. He'd wait until she was finished. There was a television there after all. It was playing commercials, which was rather disappointing. At least it would have been, but one particular commercial came on. On the screen was a boy he knew. In fact, the boy would have been dead without Zaigen's help. The boy explained how he had been diagnosed with Unglaria when he was seven. Unglaria had no known treatments, but Zaigen had donated his time and money to help that boy. They were lucky enough to find a treatment, and eventually a cure for the disease. Zaigen was thrilled to see him. He hadn't seen the boy in five years. He was doing really well. On the television, the boy told the story, and promoted Zaigen's kindness and character.

Zaigen tried not to choke up. The lady had just gotten off the phone, and came over to say, "It'll be there in fifteen minutes, sir."

Zaigen didn't mind at all. He wanted to see the rest of the commercial, so he answered, "I can wait."

Then game on a young woman who had been with child, and had no way of feeding herself. Zaigen had helped her by supplying her with food until she became employed. Then came an old widow, then a middle aged man, then someone else, and someone else until it gave a picture of Yevit on the screen. His assistant's, named Mr. Revin, voice then narrated a summery of the things Zaigen had done for the poor and why he would be a good candidate for the office. The commercial ended with a crowd of people, all of which were people he had helped, saying, "VOTE FOR ZAIGEN YEVIT," excitedly.

A woman behind Yevit saw him watching the Television. Upon seeing his expression she expected he was a vain man, and said, "It wasn't that amazing. Why are you acting like that?"

Zaigen was slightly startled by this but answered saying, "I haven't even begun planning my campaign yet. I had no hand in the making of this video."
