Addler vas Vacon, dressed in a ruffled grey shirt and trousers, appeared in a flash of bright blue light in front of the Heart of the Council. His face was drawn and ragged but had a hard edge to them, like a man on a mission. Beside him were the two rulers of the City of the Suvian, Rev and Gen.
When he appeared near the gate the two soldiers in ZPAA who were guarding it rushed forward, their weapons raised and ready to shoot. However, when they saw who it was, the missing Hand of the Council and legend of the fleet, Admiral Addler, they lowered their weapons and saluted immediately.
"Sir, a lot has happened since you were away." One soldier said through his helmet's augmenting voice box. He sounded vaguely robotic.
"I realise it might have, but at the moment I have some important business with the Council." Addler informed them authoratively. The two guards exhanged looks and opened the gates.
"Come on." Addler said to Rev and Gen, begining to walk towards the building.
-
"You have AIs too?" Gen immediately released Addler's hand and poked one of the soldiers that had rushed over to them. "They don't seem as advanced as AMI and Archon."
"Maybe they're an older model?" Rev commented at hearing the robotic voice. Then in whisper so to keep Addler from hearing he added, "After all we learned from that Commander guy who helped us and those Aralang people. Maybe they don't have people like that."
-
The soldier who was poked looked down at the child and cocked his head curiously. He bent down and looked the girl in her face. With a hissing release, the helmet folded back to reveal a pale, scarred face with electric blue eyes that looked at the child sternly but not unkindly. Addler sighed. "No, they are not AI. Theyre my race of people, the Zarethians. Come on, the Council is waiting for us." He said, waving for them to come with him as he walked through the door.
-
"He's sure got a lot of wrinkles." Gen commented on the scars.
"Maybe he's really old." Rev pondered. The both of them ran ahead to catch up with Addler.
-
Guard looked as the kids ran past him, his helmet going back to covering his face. He looked at his comrade. "I dont look old do I?" He asked.
----
Addler looked at the kids as they followed him. "Now, please speak only when spoken to. I dont this to mess up." He opened the door to the Council Chamber. There were eight council members there now. They stood up when he walked him, looking at him in surprise and in some cases, reproachement. Addler bowed.
"Addler!" An old man cried out happily. "Good to see you! Where have yo-" He stopped as he noticed the kids. "Who might these be? Your grand children?" He asked kindly.
"No, excellency." Addler ansered, looking sidelong at the kids. "Introduce yourselves, please."
-
"That one's even older!" Rev pointed out the old mad that had spoke. "Maybe even older than the Commander!"
"Not as old as the rest of them." Gen started pointing out random council members. "Like look at that one!"
When told to introduce themselves both Rev and Gen stopped looked back to the first one that had spoken.
"I'm Rev! Incarnation of Revelation Magic!"
"And I'm Gen. Incarnation of Genesis Magic."
-
Addler winced as the kids called out the elders on their age. Luckily, most of the elders didnt seem phased by the small children's quips. Masoc even laughed. Addler let out a sigh of relief. "They are the current owners of the City of the Suvian, an enormous city of unimaginable technology. They, though only appearing a few years of age, wish to begin an empire. I wish to foster such a relation and become an ally." Addler told the council, striding in front of Rev and Gen.
Some councilman nodded, thinking of the benefits of such technology.
"Not only that, but an influx of trade would be extremely beneficial to our empire and should this empire become as great as I forsee it to be, we will have secured a powerful ally. We could even then add it to our alliance with the Mechera and Ferrarians." He continured.
Now the Council seemed hooked with the idea. They muttered eagerly amongst themselves. It seemed the technology was of the main topic along with the possibility of the alliance.
Masoc stood up and the chatter died down. "It has been decided that we shall ally ourselves with this City of the Suvian and its rulers, Rev and Gen. Please dont prove us wrong, Addler." He warned quietly.
Addler bowed. "Thank you, your excellencies. I will do my best." He said, turning around and walking out the door. "Come on." He told Rev and Gen.
-
"Some of the technology we made ourselves!" Rev and Gen commented at the same time Addler was going on about them.
"Yeah, we learned from the Commander, Archon, and the Aralangs. But then we took what we learned and applied it." Rev agreed. "Like this." Rev took out his ARSim as Gen did the same, both children held them out in front of the council of old guys. "With this we can control the whole city!"
"And the planet!" Gen added in.
When they were called rulers Gen spoke up, "We're the rulers. But AMI is the city it self. "
"Shouldn't she be here too?" Rev questioned as well.
-
Addler sighed. "I dont know if she can even project herself out here. For the moment, you can do without her." Addler assured them as the Council looked on with interest.
"And do you know how any of this technolgy works?" Masoc asked.
-
"Wouldn't we have to, to be able to make it?" Rev questioned back in a tone that stated the obvious.
"AMI can project herself through our Augmented Reality Master Controller's." Gen answered matter-of-factly.
-
"Not if you didnt make it." Masoc answered back. He hardly believed these two children could make such advanced technology.
Addler nodded, just wanting to get it over with. "If you must."
-
"We improved it! By taking what we learned and creating our own." Rev retorted back, before he could act before thinking and prove just how they did, however, Gen had used her ARSim to summon AMI who now flickered to life beamed from the remote.
"Hello again children." AMI smiled, then glanced to where she was. "Oh! Are we not in the city anymore? Dear me, what a dirty room." The usual broom and dustpan materialized in AMIs hands and she began to sweep up around her.
-
"AMI," Addler called to her. "This is the Council room, head of my government. The children wished for you to be here for some reason." He told her calmly.
Masoc smiled at Rev. "Prove it then." He said playfully, leaning back in his chair.
-
"We didn't have a reason." Gen blinked and shrugged her small shoulders with her hands out, "AMI just needed to be here because you called us rulers. Well AMI is the city its self!"
"That's right." The AI nodded and continued her sweeping. "Ambient Intelligence or City of the Suvian, whatever you wish to call me. The children named me AMI. These two woke me up after our former creators the Suvian abandoned us. I wasn't aware then." AMI stabbed the broom at a particularly large dust pile. "They gave me life." The dust pile was swept up in a split second as AMI whistled smiled happily.
"Alright then!" Rev ran a finger on the holoscreen part of his ARSim and then in another second in his other hand what looked like a typical laser gun but with a few modifications materialized. After putting his ARSim back in his pocket, Rev adjusted the new 'weapon,' and then pointed it at Masoc, but then paused. "What animal?" He asked Gen.
"Well with his wrinkles and actions. How about a dragon?"
"Good idea!" Rev held up the device once again and shot it at the councilperson. "This is called the DNA Shifter. It works by transferring DNA through Torsion Waves and creating what's known as the Phantom DNA Effect."
As Rev explained Gen pointed her hand in the air and a writing in the color of cyan appeared showing the more detailed explanation of how the device worked, what i was, and how it was created. "But you can't turn back with magic. Because it rewrites the DNA." Gen winced as Rev shot the device, just then realizing they didn't have his former DNA.
-
A portal shield appeared in front of the children as soon as the weapon appeared, the AI who control the shielding system monitoring the situation and reacting in less than a second. Addler jumped in front of the gun as they fired, recieving the blast in his stomach.
Masoc and the Council Members looked around the portal at the children and Addler. Several guards rushed in, weapons raised, but the councilmen and women waved them down, looking at the trio curiously.
Addler was no longer the Addler they knew. He didnt look anything vaguely Zarethian now. He was a great, black thing with blood red splotches on his scaley hide and a golden underbelly. He was about seven feet tall and eight feet long, his wings curled up around his back. He had pure white teeth and spines on his back about six inches long each. His claws on his large feet were about six inches as well. He swung his large head around and looked at Rev and Gen with his great, saucer like eyes. They were a deep scarlet color and they were glaring right at the children.
A voice came from know where, deep and gravely. "Why?" It asked wearily.
-
"He said to prove it!" Rev grinned and pointed at Masoc while answering Addler and looking at the guards.
"So we did." Gen grinned as well. "Just on the wrong target.."
"At least it worked!" Rev looked at Masoc. "Believe us now?"
"He makes a nice dragon." AMI commented looking over the new Addler.
-
"Oh, yes. I believe you." Masoc assured them. He grinned, suppressing laughter at Addler's position, though grateful. "Thank you, Addler, for rushing to my aid."
Addler snorted, emitting red smoke from his nostrils as he glared at the children. "I. Am not. A Dragon." He growled. Why did it have to be him? He wondered. He tried to mind his own business but then this crap always happens. "Please turn me back."
-
"You see..." Gen started to explain while scratching her head in hesitation. "We kinda can't. We didn't have a sample of your DNA."
"Yeah we can." Rev argued.
"We can?" Gen looked mystified.
"I modified it a few days ago" Rev countered and held out the DNA Shifter to show Gen. "See? Now instead of transferring and completely rewriting the DNA Code. It just jumps it and switches it out. Now his DNA is in here."
"But what if we do more than one person at a time?" Gen pondered aloud. "We'll have to further modify it."
"We can worry about that when it happens." Rev pointed the device at Addler. "Are you sure? You look cooler as a dragon." Rev grinned.
-
Addler nodded his huge head. "You can change me back some other time." He assured Rev. He didnt really like this form but it probably had its uses. He began to scratch his neck with his forelegs then shook himself mentally. He was already becoming used to this body. Dammit, he needed to have two legs again.
-
"If you want..." Rev shot the device at Addler, this time having it set to return him to normal. After waiting for it to finished, he pulled out another device, this one also looked like a laser gun except of a different color and threw the DNA Shifter at Gen.. "Want to see what this one does?!"
Gen caught the former device and grinned.
-
Addler shook himself and looked at his hands, thankful they were once again hands and not scaled feet. "No, no, no." He said to Rev, shaking his head. "Please tell us what it does beforehand." Addler said restlessely.
"Yes, what does this one do?" Masoc said, ignoring Addler.
-
Gen tapped a button on her ARSim and the DNA shifter device disappeared.
"This setting scans whatever its pointed at and shows what periodic elements its made of," Rev pointed the second device at Addler to demonstrate. "Then this other setting can extract or split whatever elements were found from what was scanned."
"And the last setting will manipulate by sending elements instead of taking them, and create an unstablel reaction usually resulting in-"
"Large explosions!" Rev finished what Gen had started to explain on the third setting.
-
"Um... Yes.... Please dont demonstrate that in here." Addler said hurriedly. "Big explosians arent good in small places. Can we go now?" He asked both the kids and the Council. Masoc nodded. "Go when you wish, Addler but dont let the dragon out." He joked.
Addler glared at him and he subsided.
-
"I was just going to scan something..." Rev put the device anyways.
"So we're allied?" Gen asked.
"How wonderful!" AMI commented. Her broom had long since been replaced by a mop, which she was now using to scrub the floor up and down.
-
"Yes, yes, we are. Lets return to your city, shall we?" Addler said, looking at Masoc. "I'll begin the trade and other relations when we're there." He assured.
Masoc shrugged. "Thats fine. Its tea time, anyway." He said, taking out a small cup. Each other councilman or woman did so at the same time.
-
"What's trade?"
"And what's relations?" Both Rev and then Gen asked after.
"I do believe it is when you share." AMI switched out her mop for a digital book.
-
Addler sighed again. "A relation is how you know somebody. An ally is someone who helps you out and who you help out when theyre in trouble. Trade is giving people stuff so they give you stuff." He explained, putting a hand on each of their backs and steering them towards the door.
The council looked at the group oddly. Odd pair for an empire.
-
"Oh! Giving! You mean like that girl Ashley showed us!" At that revelation Gen produced a cash card, the one replica they had kept from their last little exploration into money and giving. Rev caught on to where she was going with it.
"So we pay them for an alliance?"
"That's the plan!" Gen threw the card up and let it hover for a second before directing a beam of cyan energy at the card which split it into thousands. After letting the cards fall into a stack. Gen held her hand above the stack and drew out the magic in it what looked to be about ten-thousand cash cards. "Is this enough?"
"Maybe we should double it..." Rev commented. "There do seem to be an awful lot of them."
-
Addler stared at the children and their pile of money that they created. "I... No. You dont pay for the alliance... Its an agreement. A promise to help." He facepalmed at the comment to make more.
Masoc and the other elders looked at the money then looked at each other. They lept forward and began to revel in the cash.
"You realize you cant keep that or else its gonna screw up the economy, right?" Addler asked, them with even more exaspheration.
They looked at one another again and slowly, tearfully began to extract themselves from the oodles of cash. Masoc opened a pocket dimension and levitated the cash in and, after wiping his eyes, closed it.
-
"What's an economy? Rev asked.
"And why would it mess it up?" Gen kept the one replica card and returned it from its place.
-
Addler paused for a moment. He didnt know exactly how to explain that. "I... er... um.. it... It just does." He said finally, rubbing the back of his neck. "Now, can we just leave?" He asked them.
-
Both Rev and Gen nodded and then followed him.
"Nice meeting you." AMI smiled and then flickered out.
-
"Alright, now that that is over..." Addler said, outside the room. "What do you want to do now?"
-
"Do?" The two asked in unison.
"What do you mean?" Gen asked.
-
"What activities do you wish to partake in?" Addler explained sarcastically, crossing his arms. He was tired, he hadnt slept in a day and he was helping out kids who were as bad as his grandchildren.
-
"Make an empire!" Rev insisted.
"Didn't we already say that?" Gen asked.
-
Addler nodded. "Yes, you did. Anything specific?" He asked through slightly gritted teeth.
-
"People!" Gen spoke up.
"And land!" Rev added.
-
"Do you have any idea of how to get either of those?" Addler asked them tiredly, pinching his eyes. This was going to take a long, long time.
-
"No." The kids answered.
-
Addler sighed. "I can help in some ways. Does AMI or this Archon have any advice?" He asked, sincerely hoping they would.
-
"Archon is still gone." Rev answered.
"And AMI returned to the city." Gen added.
-
Addler sighed yet again. So it would be the hard way. "Well, we can go back to the city and plan there, right?" He asked them, hopeful to get some sleep.
-
"That works!" At that, both Rev and Gen grabbed Addler's hands and teleported him back to the city before he could protest in a flash of amber and cyan.
