A lone message to the Zarethian Council from the house of Yairhoff Haydenn, sent at dawn. It read, quite simply...
"Eric Mann is a traitor."
As soon as he had sent the message, blackop Hand agents in full body suits busted into the dark room. Yairhoff Haydenn turned to them to defend himself, pulling out his rifle, but they had more guns than he did. He dropped his weapon. His message had been sent. That was all he could do.
He was taken away. Far, far away.
-
The message was traced back to Yairhoff's inbox and an immediate warrant was sent out for him, if his face was seen, he would be captured.
Eric Mann was requested to come meet with the Council..
-
Eric Mann visited the Heart Of The Council, as per requested, and waited in the Chambers for the Council to approach.
-
The council walked and sat down. Shiloh and Masoc were absent. "Eric Mann, you have been acused of being a traitor. How do you plead?" Asked one of the Council.
-
"Not guilty," Eric Mann replied, astonished, "Your honors, I am a senior INTERPOL officer, the director of the most prestigious Intelligence agency in this galaxy, and a Senatorial candidate. There's bound to be accusations all around, but unless some proof is brought forth, I hardly see why any of us should take time out of our busy schedules for this."
-
"Or a serious accusation by Yairoff Haydenn." The man informed him.
-
"Yairhoff Haydenn?" Eric Mann replied, his eyes widening, "Why, Mr. Haydenn and I are the closest of friends, I refuse to believe that he would wrongly accuse me of anything."
-
"Exactly why we are suddenly wary. Hardenn was recently abducted." The Council said. "This points to either your involvment or... An allies."
-
"Abducted!?" Mann shouted out, astonished, "That is impossible. He's currently under Protective Custody with his family after the attacks on his family. I can have him brought here now if you would like."
-
"This custody was approved, then? We have no records."
-
"Why, of course you don't," Eric Mann replied, "It's a standard Hand operation, nothing major. Off the books. The people responsible for the attacks were able to hack much of our technology, so all sensitive intel is currently off the books till we can secure our network."
-
"Our reports say that there was no hacking attempts." The councilman said suspiciously.
-
"Sir, the Narrikian incident... Victor Price accessed much of our technology, including transport vehicles and comm links, quite remotely," Mann replied.
-
The Councilman shrugged. "The subject failed to be mentioned in the report. Either way, yes, please call up Mr. Hyadenn."
-
"Yes, your honors," he replied, smiling as he brought out a Nova Phone and held it to his ears.
"Yes, please escort Yairhoff to the Heart Of The Council... No.... Yes, you heard me right.... Thank you."
About half an hour later, Yairhoff Haydenn walked into the room, smiling.
"Your honors, it's a pleasure," he said, bowing.
-
"Ah, Mr. Haydenn." The councilman said, looking slightly suspicious. "I take it you are well since you were put into protection?"
-
"Yes, of course," Yairhoff replied, smiling politely, "Those terrorist bastards aren't touching me or my family. Pardon my language, your honors."
-
The councilman waved this off airly. "I take it you havent been to your house recently? Or your home computer?"
-
"Not since before Victor Price attacked," Haydenn replied, somewhat surprised, "None of my family has... Director, councilmen, what is this about, if I may ask?"
-
"From your home, on your computer, you sent us, the Council, a simple message reading 'Eric Mann is a traitor'. Now, we saw you on the bugging feed that all Hand members have in their homes. Live feed recordings of you being dragged away after sending the message."
-
"Your honors, that's ridiculous," Yairhoff replied, "Eric Mann is like a father to me. He has taken me in when nobody else would. He is the most patriotic man in the Zarethian Empire. I haven't even been to my house."
-
The Councilman shrugged. "Bring up video feed." He ordered, looking at the wall where the feed, clear as day showed Haydenn typing and then being taken away.
-
Haydenn watched it and then looked at the council members, genuinely surprised.
"Your honors, this has to be some kind of trick. That wasn't me."
-
"It is entirely possible that this was some sort of magic illusion... However, that does not explain the men taking 'you' away."
-
"Your honors, why would they need to take me away?" he replied, "I promise you that neither the director or any of his men have harmed me in anyway."
"If it makes you feel any better," Mann spoke up to the council, looking around at the various members, "He can stay under ZPAA protection for however long you would like."
-
"The problem is, you two.... This is troubling, especially this close to the election. Hand agents not loyal to you, Mann, have been recruited to investigate this issue. You hearbye are underhouse arrest, along with Mr. Haydenn here. You must understand that this is simply so we can get rid of any problems before the elctions start."
-
"I see," Mann replied, nodding his head politely, "That shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure this can all be straightened out in no time. In the meanwhile, Hermitage will do a fine job taking care of the Hand."
-
"You will be escorted by ZPAA troops, both of you, back to your houses. You understand." He said, motioning for the guards to come over and escort them. A pair did.
