Okay so the way i'm doing this is rolling 2 d20s, one is you and one is Death. 20 is critical success, 1 is critical fail. Winner takes the soul then i'm writing it up.
Hikaru rolled 7. Death Rolled 7.
While your skills in Chess are masterful, as are Deaths. You both get caught up in this matching of wits before looking down and realising you both only have a king left.
You proceed for another round.
Hikaru rolled 14. Death rolled 10.
This time you came prepared and really turned it around as Death had you in Check, you moved your Rook into checkmate on him.

Hikaru picked the Sage Three empire of old.
Death picked the Fioans.
The Rebirth turned into a giant mech and literally just punched every planet that wasn't Fioa into dust.
It was pretty out of character but hey, Death owned the most territories.
