OOC: So I'll just try doing it with factors I'm good at
Zaigen Yevit, the entrepreneur running for senator, was putting up posters for his campaign. He hadn't had lots of attention put on him throughout the race. His plan was not to be like the in and out candidate Aseron who gave every few people a wonderful expensive gift, but to let the whole community eat. He would also stay with them, and get to know them on a personal level. You couldn't help the people if you didn't know them, and what they wanted. It also wasn't so much knowing what they wanted, but why they wanted it. That way he could know what would be the greatest asset to the people of the rising Zarethian Empire.
As he finished putting up another poster, a young girl game running around the corner. She was crying, and she had a terrified look on her face. As soon as she saw Zaigen, a man she had recognized from the soup kitchen, she intently felt like he could help her. She ran up to him, and hid behind his leg.
Zaigen was curious about this, and asked her, "What's wrong?"
OOC: Zak, you NPC the girl and the people chasing her.
-
OOC: ..... This isnt campaigning but okay... And Im guessing that, you know, the girls like eight?
The girl looked up at him teary eyed. She rubbed her eyes and sniffled, clutching to the man's leg. "Theyre chasing me!" She whined wetly.
A ragtag bunch of little kids, a few boys and a few girls, appeared from around the corner. They looked like they came from the poorer regions, the hab-slums. They stopped short as they saw the girl hiding behind Zaigen and assessed him like a cat would a mouse.
-
"Leave this girl alone," Zaigen said to the ruffians.
-
OOC: bump
-
OOC: Bump
-
OOC: SUPERBUMP!
-
The NPC's Zak was controlling ran off and told everyone to vote for Zaigen Yevit.
-
*Totally knew this would work!*
The kids spat at him. "Get back here, Latay!" They called as she cowered behind him.
-
"Hey! My face is up here," Zaigen snapped. "Even if you're afraid to look me in the eye at least give me the respect of talking to me."
-
"Screw off old man, this doesnt involve you!" The lead ruffian, a small, dirty and fierce little girl.
-
"It does now," Zaigen answered.
-
"Eh? Why're you standin up fer 'er?" Asked a large, blond boy.
-
"What are you attacking her for?" Zaigen asked.
-
"She deserves it."
-
"How do I know that?" Zaigen answered.
-
"Because we just told you so, dumbass."
-
Zaigen walked up to the ruffian teens. Standing a whole head taller then all of them, he looked down and said, "Who made you Admiral?"
-
"I could ask you the same thing, smart-ass."
-
Zaigen paused a second then, and said, "Fine then." Suddenly a small cluster of rocks grew around the feet of the hoodlums, and they were stuck. This wouldn't be a problem if any of thm were magic, but Zaigen had turned the AM field in his watch on once the ruffian's feet were secured. He then looked back at the girl and said, "They can't hurt you now. Go somewhere safe."
-
She nodded and ran away. The ruffians struggled and cursed.
-
"I'd be careful next time you try to pick on a defenseless little kid. Karma has a way of catching up to you in situation;s like this," Zaigen turned, and began to walk away from them.
-
OOC: Kafreakingbumpzak, if you complain that I haven't done any campaigning I will kill you
-
"You stupid, naive bastard!" One cried. "THe world isnt yours to save!"
-
"Doesn't mean I shouldn't try," Zaigen replied, his back still turned.
-
"You've got no idea do you? The world is a fucked up place! The universe is even worse."
-
"You'll never understand when you're contributing to it," Zaigen advised articulately. He then turned around and faced them, honesty in his face, and said, "The world isn't yours to rule. These streets aren't even yours to rule! The more you try, the worse things get for everyone. Even you. What happens when the cops find a dead girl with your gang's fingerprints all over it? What happens when someone plants evidence pointing to you on a night robbery? You would be unmissable given your reputation, and you could be executed. You won't have helped anyone. Not your friends, not your family, and most certainly not yourself."
-
OOC: Can I request a topic null, because Zak has coerced me into thinking the children were teenagers, and because of this my character has been talking to them like so. He's been giving them the you're at an important stage in your life and shouldn't be criminal speech and with people he's decided out of the blue for no explainable reason to be 8-year-olds. Zak has also has no idea what to do in this topic, and neglects it, meaning my character cannot campaign because he is already taking part in this topic that is going no where even without Zak's neglect.
-
OOC: I neglect it because I hardly care. Its not very interesting. I know whats going on and I am at liberty to tell you exactly how old the NPCs youre talking to are because:
OOC: ..... This isnt campaigning but okay... And Im guessing that, you know, the girls like eight?

Teenagers arent little kids. Deal with the fact you didnt figure this out sooner, kthnxbai.
"We dont have family you bastard. Why do you think we're doing this? Life is hell for us! It wont matter what we'll do it'll always be hell!" Said one of the older members, about ten.
-
OOC: And I want this topic nulled. This doesn't excuse the fact that you just sit there doing nothing with the dialog. Absolutely nothing has happened because all the kids just sit there badmouthing. I'm sick of it. The out of character stuff is just the straw that breaks the camel's back.
-
OOC: you've never heard little kids in gangs speak have you? They honestly speak like that. Your character chose to stay their, thats not my choice. Now this is actually letting your character speak his views, dont you want that? Isnt that what he's supposed to do? Isnt that the point of campaigning? Im letting you do your thing, you gave me free reign on these kids and the situation so blame yourself, if anyone, for this. You helping a little kid from ruffians? How the hell is that campaigning anyway? That doesnt get your story out, it wont help you. You can be sick of it if you want but there isnt any reason for nulling the topic and you cant null it simply because things dont go your way. If you wanted to 'campaign' then you should have done something other than you helping out a little girl. Honestly...
-
OOC:Zak is indeed right, if your reason to null the topic is 'nothing is getting done' and 'I dont care anymore/this isn't fun anymore', then there is no grounds to null it...Its still a part of the canon. Of course, you could always easily end the topic or something, but eh, its still something that happened to them.
And Nik, SERIOUSLY, they're a gang of little kids. They aren't intellectuals or scholars, they're not about to sit and have a good intelligent conversation with yer character. They're gonna probably just constantly insult him and/or attempt to injure/rob him.
-

My reasoning behind requesting a null was not because things weren't going my way. It's because (yet again) because of Zak Zaigen has done something out of character. When I asked him to post in person two days ago Zak said something along the lines of, "Why? He's just beating up 8-year olds." Is it in character for the goody two shoes umong goody two shoes to be beating up eight year olds?
Zak has also been stalling the NPC's, not doing anything. He posts, and it is no further along then the previous post. The kid just
'I dont care anymore/this isn't fun anymore',
I never said that. Like Dylan, you're misquoting me and twisting it to the point where it's no longer the point I was making. I don't care anymore, but I didn't say that until just now. And saying it's not fun anymore, I seriously can't you for said that. What the hell is wrong with you! Don't insult me. I'm not some eight year old who's never RP'd in his life. I'm not just going to take an insult.
And before you add fuel to your argument and say that it's not an insult, it's the truth! or some crap like that at least post in Maltruse.
"So are you trying to end it?" Zaigen said.
-
OOC:If I say something about what you said and thats not the way you meant it, chances are I read it wrong or misinterpreted it. Which to be honest, unfortunately happens a lot with me. If that happens, just try to explain what you meant more clearly, arright?
Regardless, unless there is a actual, valid reason to nullify the topic(which misreading what someone else said may or may not actually count, depending on severity), it cant be nulled. The character behaving out of character maybe, but I dont really see him beating up anyone in the topic, more lecturing them. And to be fair, a goody two shoes of any kind would be out of character to beat up on anyone at all. All in all, I still dont see anything wrong.
Stalling NPCs or normal characters merely shows that the threat is dying. Its likely that he cant think of any way to advance the story and is, therefor, leaving it up to you to do so, which you clearly aren't.
As for Zak simply not posting in it(which I forgot to refer to in my earlier post), er, you could always just consider the topic over and move on? Its your character, and if Zak neglects to post in three days or so just post yourself about the character leaving, adding whatever flesh to the post you want, then move it along to the next topic wherever or blah(within reason, of course; for example, if your character CANT just up and get away then you'll still need to RP that part out or blah).
-
OOC: I never mislead you, Nik. I posted it several times early on that the NPC ruffians were kids. Little kids. Its your fault for forgetting that fact. Now, you could always go back and edit if you wanted but other than that there is nothing that I have done that is wrong. For goodnesses sake this isnt even campaigning! Hawk did a better job campaigning the then you did because its ACTUAL CAMPAIGNING.
-
OOC: I wasn't aware you had to make a topic devoted to a single day of giving out expensive cell phones to six year olds until recently Zak. I've already told you, I want a real campaign for Zaigen, not some fairy tale hocus-pocus that Hawk spews out. Ad yes, that's all I've ever seen him campaign with. I've done a commercial and a poster, and I've been waiting for the debates you promised us. That's where I've always been planing to do the bulk of my campaigning because in the real world, that would be where most potential voters would look to see who they want to vote for.
And Hiro, I would do that, but if I just leave now Zak'll just make Zaigen loose the election on the grounds that he held captive eight year olds.I've worked really hard on all of this and all I get for it is Zak giving me crap I don't deserve.
-
OOC: XDDDDD Nik thats just ridiculous. This IS more fancy fairytale campaigning then Hawk's! I mean, I understand going out and kissing babies but this is different! First off I believe youre the only one running, actually and Im not gonna let a NPC win because that'd be boring. The debates are up.
Hey, Nik, I posted that they were young. Its not my fault you forgot.
-
Hey, Nik, I posted that they were young. Its not my fault you forgot.
You've said that in every post since I requested the null. Also, where are the debates?
And, I've responded. I can't really end the topic until I know what the girl did.
-
OOC: Because its the basis of the whole blasted problem, it seems like. Lyoko posted the debates up.
The little girl hugged his leg and let out a slightly wet, slightly muffled thank you.
-
OOC: Oh, well that sucks. Do I just make a topic now?
The little girl hugged his leg and let out a slightly wet, slightly muffled thank you.
What? I thought she ran away?
EDIT: How dare you be Nathan Filian!
-
OOC: No, you post in that topic, Nik. This topic is ended unless you do something else in it....
-
"So are you trying to end it?" Zaigen said.
-
"You cant change the world, idiot." The lead girl said, shaking her head at the stupidity of the adult. "Nothing ever changes and it wont."
-
"That's where you're wrong," Zaigen said. "Anyone can change the world, even if you're only changing a small part of it."
-
"I'd like to see you try it you big, naive bastard...."
-
"Don't worry about that," Zaigen said. "You will."
-
"Whatever."
-
Zaigen began to walk away again, and said, "When you think about it, I'm changing the world right now. If it weren't for me interfering, that innocent young girl you were chasing wouldn't be a part of it."
-
The girl scoffed. "Shes not innocent. She killed my brother you moron." She shook her head in disgust. "Shes always been good at acting..."
-
"How close were you to your brother?" Zaigen asked sympathetically.
-
"He was my brother. We hated each other and we loved each other. You know how it is." She said bitterly, turning away.
-
Zaigen surveyed the eyes of the others. He could tell that if she was telling the truth, she was leaving something out. To confirm his suspicions, he asked, "How old was he?"
-
"Seventeen." She answered bitterly before fishing around in her pockets for something. A mark of recognition lit up her face briefly as she took out a grubby holo-card of a young Zarethian man, grubby, like his supposed sister, but they shared a certain family resemblance. "Here." She said, showing him it.
-
Zaigen looked at it, with a certain suspicion confirmed, he looked at her and asked, "Was he stabbed?"
OOC: EPIC IDEA! SAY YES! SAY YES! SAY YES!
-
"How did you know?" The girl asked in a bewildered manner.
-
Zaigen didn't answer, but his face only showed horror as he turned and ran after the girl whom he had saved. As he left the pieces of rock holding the kids in place retracted into the earth.
-
The kids looked to one another and hurried after him. The girl was no where to be seen on the busy streets.
-
She can't have gotten far, Zaigen thought as he rapidly started searching.
-
The streets were packed with people, groundcars moving at a steady pace. There were alleyways everywhere as befits a large city.
-
Zaigen mentally swore. How could he let this criminal get away! He searched for her from alley to alley, storefront to storefront, hoping he'd yield results.
-
Right as he was peering down an alleyway a little white wisp disappeared up into building beside it.
-
Zaigen wasn't sure if it was her or not, but he stuck with his gut and followed the white wisp.
-
The girl ran swiftly up the stairs and set up a block of iron behind her, blocking the doorway entirely.
-
Zaigen saw it was her, and ran up the stairs. However once he got there, the iron proved to be more difficult then he had anticipated. He pushed, and tugged, but was nonethless unable to move it. He sat back a second, panting to himself. Okay, you'll have to be creative on this one Zaigen, he thought to himself.
As he looked at the doorway, a simple solution came to mind. Zaigen then used his magic to shrink the metal block to a size where it was no longer to big, and crawled through.
-
OOC: BUMP!
-
OOC: Considering the whole forum has jumped eight years, permission to finish in one post?
-
OOC: Granted
-
Zaigen saw the girl, and before she could run he grabbed her by the shoulder, but his AM watch would soon reveal it not to be her shoulder. As her disguise flickered away, Zaigen it would seen he had grabbed her waist, for she was fully grown. Her hair was jet black and her skin was a colorless gray. Her red eyes glared with anger and surprise, and she went for her weapon, a sort of retractable blade. Quickly, Zaigen cast a spell to knock her out, and without a moment to spare she fell at his feet. She was no Zarethian, this woman was Enrakni.
Following the commotion, a few policemen filled the room, and seeing that the innocent little girl was not so innocent, they took her in. Soon enough they found that the retractable knife, a device called a cleptisist, matched the wound of the girl's brother exactly. She had killed him for his magic. She would be going to prison for a long time.
Zaigen then made sure the girl who had originally confronted him had a real home; a place where she wouldn't have to rely on street life. As people heard of this event, people saw him as more of a hero, and a kind- heart. Some believe he would not have been elected senator had it not been for this event.
