Why did everyone copy me with symbols in front of their names?

I didn't put the tilde on my username on SP due to IRC symbols -.-
It's symbolic logic in philosophy.
It means NOT.

I generally use the "~" when I do because:

1-It's squiggly <3
2-It's on my DA username(hurr)
3-I like the squiggle >:I
