Staring from a mountain through the rain clouds, a man gazed at one of the floating cities of the Mechera. He was dressed formally, in a black, pinstriped business suit with a coat. He wore sturdy, rectangular glasses and carried a brief case in his left hand. Straightening his tie, he jumped off the mountain and began walking on air, floating towards it. His casual saunter suggested business, without hostility, and he began to approach city limits.
-
A Mechera army officer was near the city limits. He saw the Magellan flying toward him, and nodded at him. Mage's weren't totally uncommon within Mechera territories, due to the Alliance with the Zarethian Empire. As the Mage approached, he said,"Beautiful day, isn't it? Sun's shining, and the mountains to the horizon are simply breathtaking this time of day."
-
He nodded curtly, but avoided pleasant conversation. This pained him inside, he enjoyed interactions like this, but he was on a mission.
"My name," He said casually, "Is Stellarhymus Contra. I'm here to discuss important business with your people, I think you need to leave this planet."
-
The soldier sighed sadly, both outwardly and within his cyberspace. "I'm sure you know we can't just pack up and leave. Violet is going to be a vital trade location for our empire, and aside from the stations around Frezzi, this planet is our only territory in this dimension, especially after the Secession of the Narrikians. We are an Empire, and we must expand, at least until a stable presence is achievable to protect our citizenry and aid our allies wherever they might be."
-
"I wish to discuss this with someone more... Significant in the decision making process. I mean you no offense, but it's of great importance that I plead my case."
-
"I do understand, I really do, but I don't think it'll be quite so simple."the officer looked around for a bit, before saying,"However...The fact that you don't appear to have any ill will towards the Empire would imply you've a honest motive. You want to speak with someone who could single handedly decide for us to leave this world, well...There is a civilian city upon our Flagship, the First Battalion. Within that city, you'll find the Palace. King Gregory Falzone is the only person whose will cannot be tied by the other parts of the Mechera government. Aside from him, I suppose the Director for this Planet could give the order to evacuate the civilian presence, and the Tactician assigned to this world does have the authority to order a military withdraw...But the orders of both can be overwritten by higher ranking officials within both the Harmony and Hostility sectors of our government, respectively. Even if they aren't outright denied, they can be indefinitely stalled...And you'd just have to go higher up the chain from there."
-
UnStellar nodded, taking in the information. He didn't quite understand it all, but he expected it to be more complex then just a simple "Hey, you guys should leave."
"Thank you for your patience and understanding." UnStellar said sincerely, extending a hand to the officer, well examining the flagship above them.
-
"Not a problem. I must admit, though, I do hope this can be resolved without necessitating our leaving...My assignment to this planet's one of the best ones I've had. Not just 'cause its safe, and peaceful here, which would lead to not needing to do much...But it really is such a beautiful world, and I enjoy being able to see so much of it simply by making my patrols." He said, shaking the mage's hand. Heathen stepped away, nodded, and continued his rounds.
-
I hadn't expected such words to come from a machine... UnStellar thought. There is more to this race then meets the eye. Now, onward. Bracing himself and focusing very carefully on the ship on top of him, he closed his eyes and extended a hand. Some portal spheres drifted out from his briefcase and flew towards the ship. They blind-teleported inside and acted as windows spying in, so UnStellar could find the perfect landing area. After ten minutes of observation, he picks a sphere. It opens a portal and steps through, suddenly on the ship.
-
He would find himself in a bustling city, with the stars above, seen through a dome of clear metal. Millions of Mechera lived in this city, though organic life was not uncommon. However, none of these races were native to this dimension, instead having come from the Mechera's home dimension. He got a few odd looks when he portaled in, but other than that he was mostly left alone.
Well, except for the security cameras following his movement throughout the ship, buuuut not that he would know.
-
UnStellar nodded to himself, having made an inspection through the windows and already having a general idea of the layout. As he walked, the spheres deactivated and floated towards him. As soon as he opened his case, they flew in. He found his target, and approached what seemed to be an important office building. He noted a military security around it, and confidently strode toward it.
-
The office building was not the Palace, itself, but was nearby, hence the(stronger) military presence. The office building itself was actually a embassy, however so that also accounted for a bit of it. The Palace itself was a large, castle-like structure, made of silvery metal, with guards armed with minigun-arms patrolling outside the entrance.
-
As UnStellar approached the office, he noticed the Palace. It seemed very obvious to him, and he laughed to himself that he had missed it. He opened a portal to bring him on the sidewalk outside the palace, and headed towards it.
-
Once he reached the gates, he was stopped by one of the minigun-wielding guards. "Halt. What business have you within the Palace?"
-
"I need to talk to... Whomever's in charge. It's very important." He said, standing patiently.
-
"Certainly you must understand that not just anyone can see King Gregory. For all we know, you could be a assassin sent to kill the King, in some way even our data network cannot save from. We know nothing of you, your motives...To just lead you onto the throne room would be foolish of anyone."the The guard responded, not unkindly.
-
"Don't let him in, Sparky," a voice piped up.
In an all too violent display, Zere himself appeared, wearing Narrikian robes from the adventure he'd just left, and pulsating with an unusual amount of power, even for one of the Anrufe's leaders. He had, after all, just absorbed a planet's-worth-amount of explosives meant to destroy Setus Prime. And now, he was ready to use what he had gained to cause some destruction.
Appearing behind him was a well-guarded and shielded generator. An AMR field emitted around the area that would stop any AM fields from popping up. It was time to have some fun. Zere's hand lit with a red ball of energy, swirling. Lightning shot up from the ball, also red in color, and began to surge up and down his arm as the sage looked the guards straight in the eye.
-
The strange generator behind the intruder would be encased in a Mirror Shield, stopping all of the Unknown Field it was emitting from affecting the First Battalion. At a rate incapable of being comprehended by Organic life, due to the Mechera's increased reaction speed to that of a computer, a AM field was immediately set up, at first not working at all due to the Unknown Field but working as soon as the Mirror Shield encased it, preventing the Unknowns magic. And then...Edge, Mechera. Pseudo-Magic Cores within the guards turned Online(obviously, during tests of the system, they'd have found that AM doesn't affect Pseudo Magic though they don't know why, which is because Pseudo-Magic converts Tech Existence and not Magic, making AM which affects Magic Existence useless, ahem, just posting for reference), allowing them to bind the intruder with Pseudo-Magical Rope. The guards in the immediate area moved to put themselves between the intruder and the person they were talking to, trained to protect innocents in the face of danger.
-
UnStellar found his magic rendered useless, but reaching into his bag he removed a handful of Spheres. due to their nature, AM fields wouldn't affect them.
"KILL HIM! KILL HIM NOW!" He cried frantically. "He is the Anrufe! He's come to kill us all! End it NOW!" He pointed dramatically. Normally, he was quite collected but... They had to end it. If they didn't, he would.

OOC: DAMMIT, my internet is flipping shit and acting super slow, which is why this post came so late.
-
OOC: Sorry to kinda hijack this thread then leave you guys hanging by signing off but my minds not thinking right tonight... It's late, I'm signing off, night guys.

The moment the mirror shield surrounded the generator, it's form exploded violently. The mirror shield caused the explosion to fold back in on itself, causing maximum destruction. As soon as he was binded in the ropes, he began to resist. He had to get free... He had to escape from the grasp of this race... And destroy.
In orbit of the planet, an Anrufe ship appeared.
-
"Kneebringer." UnSteller said, an echoed edge to his voice. That's when the barrier went up. It went up in a red bubble, with UnStellar at the center. It was wide enough to cover Zere too, but it's purpose wouldn't be known to him quite yet. A magical barrier? In an AM field? Impossible right?
Nope. UnStellar wasted no time, "Grimpalm!" he shouted, the words barely out of his mouth as palm sized red spheres shot at the restrained Zere. They broke the sound barrier with their speed, and would unleash a burst of solar-level energy on his internal organs. They were like miniature suns going supernova on contact.
-
"An AAM Field!? No, the AM is still online...And no Pseudo Magic Core was detected? How is he-"
"Not the time, soldier. We've got bigger problems here-that guy's trying to kill the prisoner, and if he dies, it'll be a LOT harder to trace the attack." The two guards said, also within the magic shield. Unlike the soldiers on the Palace Wall, these soldiers were equipped with Plasma Claw melee weaponry, which they immediately activated. They tried to keep between the mate and the prisoner to be, saying,"Stop! We need the terrorist ALIVE if we're able! He won't talk if he's dead!" They made no moves to attack with the claw weapons, but kept in a fighting stance in case the figure attacked.
As the prisoner fought against the ropes, he'd find them constricting tighter and tighter. As well, bars for a cage appeared around him, while above him a grate formed which the bars connected to, locking him in.
The Anrufe Ship that appeared would find several Gunship-Class Frigates, supplemented with Brigade Frigates interspersed within the formation and several Artillery Class Corvette Missile ships at the back of the formation headed for it. Their weapons were online, but they didn't yet fire. They sent a single transmission:
[Halt, Unknown Ship. This area is currently restricted, aside from construction crews or the initial settlers. Civilian trading/immigration is not set to open up for at least seven more days, and none of the orbital infrastructure will be set up for at least four days, so until then there is no where for you to dock your ship, if that was your intention. And, as said, this is a restricted area until then, so we're afraid that you'll need to leave this area to somewhere else, or we will be forced to assume you have hostile intent and we WILL open fire.]
-
The ships seemed to ignore the transmission as four more Anrufe ships appeared in orbit around the planet, all extremely well shielded. The moment they arrived, an ARM field was deployed around the entire planet. All over the planet, AM field generators began to overload. Soon, they would all begin to explode. Their effects became null as a result of the AMR fields. On the ground, Zere felt his magic flow free again just in time for his entire form to disappear, reappearing right behind UnStellar as a second barrier formed around himself, which the spheres met.
"Weapons," he said aloud, a grin on his face as a katana appeared in his hand. This katana was different then most -- it's blade had seals, small circles in black ink, and it was encased in a red magic, glowing. He pointed it right at UnStellar, a wicked grin on his face. "Finally, someone who appreciates the fine art of magic. This should be fun."
He turned his head towards the Mechera, a scowl on his face. "Don't any of you dare interfere... I'm... So hungry!"
A grin appeared on Zere's face as he stabbed his sword into the ground, which proceeded to open up for it, a slot being made in the ground for it as the ground under the sword's point was sealed away. Once the sword was in the ground, the ground began to hum slightly, as if it were singing. Zere could feel the vibrations under his feet... It was only a matter of time.
In space, the five ships were not amused with the fleet that was preparing to attack them. A Core Bomb was beamed down to the planet's core, activated. It would start it's charging. It's sole function would be to cause the planet to explode. Of course, this would take quite some time. Heat-seeking energy missiles locked onto enemy ships, and batteries began to fire, assaulting their shields. Tower Time Sun began to charge on the Anrufe ships as well. Several Raven fighters started to fly towards the planet below, many of which dropped CutFiber bombs on their way down, strategically being dropped on civilization.
-
As the AM field covering them went down, the red bubble vanished. In sync with Zere's disappearance, he teleported away to his old spot, knowing he wouldn't be there. They had effectively traded places. As a brief test, a ball of fire appeared in his hand. Low level, easy magic. The test was a success, no AM fields were up. UnStellar smirked at his opponent.
"You should all leave now. This fight is far beyond you abilities. Take out his ships, leave this one to me." He spoke in a steady voice, commanding. Then, he spoke directly to his opponent, as the flames slowly changed colors.
"Hello. Zere. I remember you. Do you remember the first thing I told you? I told you that you were worthy enough for me to fight with you. But I was wrong... The only thing you're worthy of is death." He hurled the fireball toward him, it's color now green, and simultaneously threw the portal spheres with his other hand. They opened into portals and spread out in a seemingly random order. UnStellar went through one and vanished from sight.
-
OOC:Um...K2? They aren't on the planet...They're on the Mechera's Titan. And also, I mean really...I AM able to counter a lot of the time...Dun think I cant. ;A;
As soon as the Unknown Field was deployed, the Mechera Brigades within the opposing fleet wasted no time in setting up a small Isolation Engine Mirror Shield, encompassing only those ships and the formation of Frigates and Corvettes approaching them. The field was therefor contained, never able to spread farther than the Mirror Shield both preventing them from leaving or gaining reinforcements. And, of course, they were outnumbered as well. This also prevented the beaming of the bomb, as it would not be able to get through the Mirror Shield(which are portals, as I've before said). As the field never really was going to the First Battalion, where Zere was, instead headed for the planet(where there...Really weren't much of any AM Fields yet) he'd have never gotten his Magic back in the first place, still trapped within the bonds holding him.
Back within the Mirror Shield, the Mechera ships offered the Anrufe ships a deal while firing off all of their weapons at the offending enemy ships:
[You have no chance of victory against us. Surrender and die]
-
OOC: Oops.
Outside, hyperspace windows opened from within the Mirror Shields, bypassing normal space all together, and as a result, bypassing the mirror shield as well. The ships easily flew through the window, appearing on the other side of the shield. A Formation Breaking shield was deployed from one of the ships, and it began to separate each and every ship, and as a result, created a sort of maze throughout the battlefield, which all the Mecheran ships were now trapped in. Zere succeeded in his efforts inside the ship.
The ships did not attempt once more to beam a core bomb into the planet. .
Ah, yes, the first time UnStellar and Zere met. The Mechera had been involved then, too -- it was back in the days of the Narrikians, and their struggle with the World Without Boundaries. They had been friends then, co-workers, both trying to achieve the same goals. Destroying Nap. Together, they had done just that, even with the Mechera trying to stop them. Now, here they were again -- just on a different planet.
"You," Zere noted, recalling the man.
The portals met barriers, nets which Zere rose around them all, as well as the fireball, to contain them. Zere's entire body lit with black fire, coating him -- not burning him. He awaited the return of UnStellar. He knew that this man was a fighter, just like Zere. He would not abandon such... A fun fight. Zere was truly going to enjoy this.
His sword continued humming, emitting pulses into the hull of the ship. It was growing louder.
A ship finally sent a transmission to the Mechera.
Leave this planet, and we will spare you. This is your only warning.

"Reflecting on the irony of our current situation? I remember when I thought like your organization. Power used to be the most important thing. Well, these eight-odd years have been a good time to reflect on past choices and rethink my future. You're scum, all of you. So simpleminded. I've been wandering this universe and heard tales of your exploits. I've been preparing for you, for years now. I knew you'd come, either to recruit me or to kill me. Well, now it's just me and you. Two lonely, powerful souls." The normally silent UnStellar sais, his voice echoing through the portals. The Portals flickered out and reopened elsewhere, leaving the nets behind. More began to open, forming a labyrinth of portals. Some lead to other parts of the titan, others to far reaches of the universe, some to Pocket Dimensions. It was a dangerous game of Cat and Mouse. Where was UnStellar hiding? He appeared to be biding his time calmly.
OOC: I will be gone today and most of tomorrow, sorry to delay this fight. Also, sorry for my RP faux paus, I haven't had a good RP fight in ages, so I'm rusty.

At the apparent ally's words, the two Mechera Guards responded with,"Be that as it may, we are sworn to defend the King and his territories. And this...This is the First Battalion, Flagship of the Mechera Empire. As soldiers, we will give our lives before we see it taken. Besides...We've got a few tricks of our own." At this, they struck Zere with their claws of plasma, long enough to strike him from far enough that the fire wouldn't hurt them, yet. At the same time, the Mechera attempted to use Pseudo Magic to teleport Zere's sword straight out of his hand, and into the sun of a system not far from Violet's, but far enough that even unforseen effects of this method of...Dealing with the blade would not be damaging upon this system. This time, in order to contain the aggressor, several more bars of metal would be created-But this time, they wouldn't be around him. No...These bars would be created in him, impaling him from several directions all in an instant.
[We're trapped!]
[Not for long. Follow me...We're going into Phase Space]
Out in the spacial battle, the newly-built Phase Generator (http://shatteredplanes.com/forum/index.php?topic=3635.msg32419#msg32419) was commanded to create a Fused Zone inside the labyrinth, directly around the ships, and then 'phase' them into Phase Space before collapsing the Fused Zone, forcing Phase and Real Space apart. This allowed the Mechera ships to simply see through the labyrinth walls to find the Anrufe and, more importantly, go through them as though they weren't even there. While the Anrufe ships would just perceive them as ghostly images, they surrounded the enemy ships and fired. Now, normally, anything in Phase Space cannot affect anything in Real Space. But the Phase Generator created a Fused Zone, where Real and Phase space intersect, directly around the enemy ships a little before they were going to be hit, allowing them to be affected by the shots fired within Phase Space. After the barrage, they collapsed the Fused Zone, preventing retaliation by the enemy ships and would only bring the Fused Zone back up when the enemy would be hit by the Phased weaponry, allowing the Mechera forces to engage in guerrilla warfare in plain sight. The First Battalion, still in Real Space, sent the Anrufe forces a message:
[Your warning means nothing to us. The Mechera Empire is not so easily cowed by simple threats. Even such as yourselves must understand that you've no chance against us. Surrender and die.]
-
As the plasma met Zere's black fire coat, the claws seemed to be melting away, it's material bonding to the fire. As the fires slowly absorbed the claws, binding them in place, the color of the fire itself began to have a slight orange tint to its color. It was slowly changing. Growing. As it's color changed, it grew larger still, spreading out in all directions. Zere was growing angry. He would have to punish these foolish Mechera for interfering later, but for now, he was focused on his prey.
Zere's sword was not in his hand, but instead binded to the hull, it's form growing ever more powerful. To teleport the sword away would mean to teleport away the very flooring of the ship. The two were, in a way, becoming one. The bars of metal which were materializing in him would end up being the Mechera's biggest mistake ever. In an instant, his body's defenses kicked in, seals appearing where the bars were and eating them away before they could do any serious damage. But as they ate the metal away, they were also grabbing onto the magic which had materialized them there... And in a moment's instance, seals were eating away at the Pseudo-Magic of the Mechera.
Outside, as the Mechera played their ghost games, the Anrufe ships merely opened hyperspace windows, passing through these hyperspace windows to another part of the battlefield. They continued this process as well. If the Mechera wanted to play like this, so would the Anrufe. They were just messing with the Mechera at this point, holding their abilities over the head of the Mechera. This was how they continued on.
Inside the ship, Zere found himself curious as to how UnStellar had created such a traphouse, but he responded accordingly by creating seals to match the portals and seal away at the very base components of those portals. As this took place, Zere's sword now completely merged with the hull of the ship, melting down and becoming one with it. Something... very bad was about to happen. A very loud noise began to echo throughout the ship.
On the ground of the planet, a Level Four Anrufe operative appeared, a black box in his hand, which he set on the ground. The box began to emit a low frequency as it powered up.
OOC: 3/4 posts until Time Tower Sun.
-
Actually, to teleport the sword would not necessarily teleport the floor. Even were it bonding with the floor of the ship, the Mechera would simply teleport the blade and part of the floor it was immediately touching and already merged with((as of two posts ago, that is, when it was teleported)), which would of course get rid of it into said sun. As the sword had been teleported, it hadn't enough time to merge with much of the ship at all, and evenif a great deal of the floor was teleported with it, well, that's what repairs were for. Just in case, Mirror Shields were erected directly around the First Battalion(as their conventional AM generators were blown, they weren't taking chances with the PMC) the Pseudo Magic Core also emitted a burst of Anti Magic to eradicate any lingering effects from the blade upon the ship. As a added bonus, this would also cheerily remove any magic from the fire around the combatant, and also any immunity to it he had, essentially lighting him on his own fire.
The Mechera ships caught on quickly to the enemy's tactics, and simply began firing at the enemy's exit points of the hyperspace windows, still of course un-phasing the munitions so they'd hit.
The Pseudo-Magic Core redirected the magic as it came at the core back as Assassin, reverbing the very magic assaulting it back at its former master. If the attack was, say, a fireball or another such corporeal attack this would not have worked, but the nature of the seals being made up of magic was how they were bounced from the Core. As a extra precaution, the Core created a field of Anti-Magic directly around itself, so that if this counterattack failed the seals still wouldn't affect it. All of this, of course, all in case the earlier Anti-Magic Burst hadn't already eradicated the seal threat anyways.
The operative that appeared on-world didn't have enough time to set the box down, forcibly teleported into a pocked dimension as soon as he arrived. This pocket dimension immediately collapsed, erasing him and his cargo from existence once he was within it...This was currently a warzone, and the Mechera would not tolerate uninvited guests, regardless of affiliation.
-
"They're strong Zere. Can you defeat them?" The portals were coming back faster then he could seal them. The amount being produced per second was mind boggling. As a test, UnStellar threw three rods of magic energy. They were sharpened to a point, and flew with great speed. Zere would get peeks of them as they flew through the portals. They were traveling all over the universe, and where they would come through was anyone's guess. Portal began to open closer to Zere, within ten feet of him.
-
OOC: Wait, so because there's a mirror shield the AMR field no longer is in effect? :/
-
OOC:No, its cut off. Y'know, like how destroying a AM field generator stops the AM? Well, the AMR is cut off from the First Battalion now, so its effect wouldn't be active anymore. Its still affecting everywhere outside the First Battalion, though. In effect, its being blocked.
-
OOC: Damn you.
The sword (and section of the hull) now in the nearby sun was growing, seals spreading out from it as it began to absorb that sun. The Mechera had just made the sword attack ten times worse. It was changing, now. The sword seemed protected from the immense heat as bit by bit, the seals spread out throughout this sun. What was it going to do? Neither the Anrufe or Mechera would want to stick around to find out.
Zere cursed as he felt the magic leaving his body when the mirror shield began to be erected. He watched as his seals began to die. Damn it, he would have to find a new solution. He quickly used his communicator to inform the fleet of what was going on. A moment later, a POR field began to be raised over the battlefield. If Zere couldn't fight UnStellar with magic, he would fight UnStellar with technology. The moment this field began to rise, UnStellar's portals would find a waveish, forcefield-like gloss membrane forming over his portals, not being absorbed by them, but blocking input and output.
...And to the Anrufe's surprise, this membrane gloss also began to rise over the Mirror Shield.
The fire around Zere also seemed to be magically fueled, so it died out entirely when the Mirror Shield rose. His seals, unfortunately, had also died. As he saw a wave of magical energy coming towards him, he quickly ducked through the hole in the hull, down a floor into an empty corridor, and waited for the magic to pass by and into the wall on the floor above, maybe even burning its way through the hull. He would also avade the rods of magic energy coming at him this way (though I don't see how they are not effected by the AM).
Zere's voice echoed throughout the ship, through the floor in the hull to the floor above. He yelled out, "Be lucky I'm not able to fight you like a man, kid!"
As one of the Anrufe ships beamed another one of the black boxes down to the core of the planet, the Anrufe's Time Tower Sun became fully charged. It was only a matter of time before they used it.
The moment the Anrufe realized they were somehow being attacked by an invisible enemy, they prepared to defend themselves by launching Heat-Seeking Energy Missiles which tracked incoming fire and shot down incoming attacks.
-
Of course, the sun the sword was in was in a different solar system. Somewhat nearby, yeah, but far enough that it could be dealt with later.
As for the Mechera's munitions, it wasn't that they were invisible, no no no. You could see them, and the Mechera ships firing them themselves just fine, if a bit see-through. No, what they WERE was incorporeal. At least, until they were forced out of Phase Space by the Phase Generator, and back into Real Space. Heat seeking missiles wouldn't track them until the munitions were Phased back into Real Space, which the Phase Generator was now doing when they'd actually hit the foe. Even if the missiles could track them, they'd pass right through, leaving the Mechera's ammo untouched until they were unphased just before they'd hit the enemies. Because of this, the enemy's tactics at countering them proved ineffective, allowing the Mechera to deal a good amount of damage to the five enemy ships, if not outright destroy some of them.
The Black box was, like the first one, immediately teleported away and into a Pocket dimension which was, again, collapsed. These...Whatever they weres looked like they were important to the enemy's assault...Elsewise, why would they continue to try?
Back in the First Battalion, more bars would impede Zere's way, forming another cage around him, but first blocking any way for him to move forward so he couldn't just slip out. In adittion, since he was now further into the ship(been meaning to mention, but it wasn't the hull they were at, there is a city on the First Battalion, which he is now under), he would find more and more soldiers coming around him, aiming guns at him. "Surrender now, and we'll let you live. But, of course...You'll probably wish we hadn't."
-
OOC: Are mirror shields the only shields surrounding the titan?
-
OOC:Not probably, but there shouldn't be much special about these shields(aside from, y'know, Titan class shielding).
-
Having realized that the mirror shields were being effected by their POR, the Anrufe ships now raised an Anti-Portal field over the area. In the neighboring solar system, the sword continued to grow, it's seals absorbing mass amounts of that sun. When it was finally ready, the sword, lit aflame with plasma from the sun, burning with energy, and lit with seals which were spreading out in every direction, shot out of the sun at an insanely fast speed. Darkness seemed to warp around it as it appeared on the battlefield, retaining its velocity and ramming directly into the outside of the First Battalion titan's shields... But instead of being repelled/burned by this shield, the sword began to spread out over the shield, creating a new layer ontop of the titan's shield -- a layer of strange text written in some foreign language.
The ships were now severely critical, with one of them even being destroyed. Instead of continuing with the hyperspace now, they began to teleport, randomly, throughout the battlefield to avoid being destroyed. They also began to recharge their shields and repair their systems. In the First Battalion, Zere felt his magic return to him once more. He simply smiled at the soldiers as he teleported out of the cage, and out of the area, back to city above, where the labyrinth of portals would now be destroyed due to the AP field.
"Show yourself, UnStellar!" he yelled out, "I'm ready to have lunch!"
He was no longer amused with the Mechera. He wanted to play, but they kept getting in his way.
-
Due to the ships' teleporting around, the Mechera created a AT Field around the entire gravity well, to allow their ships to get a better shot. This proved to be Zere's downfall, preventing him from teleporting out of his cage, to which the Mechera outside it aimed their weaponry at him. In addition to prevent his escape, a layer of Pseudo-Magic surrounded him, forming a 'aura' of sorts, though what it would do...Who'd know?
With the AT Field up, the Mechera ships simply kept up their assault on the enemy ships.
Before the sword touched the First Battalion's shields, it was met by a force of Pseudo-Magic, which dispersed the blade's own kinetic force from it before it reached the First Battalion, as well as bonding with the sword to reverberations its own magic back into itself to prevent it from using this magic to aversely affect anything else. It was fast as all hell, make no mistake...But Mechera can perceive time much slower than most other sentient beings. It wasn't exactly moving through molasses to the Mechera, but it certainly wasn't Light-Speed.
-
Alarms were blaring. Shield strength was basically zero percent, the Anrufe fleet near destroyed. Zere was also well out of shape due to his lack of resources to defend against the Mechera's technological warfare. It was time to get out of there. The battle was lost, but the war had just begun. As Zere was beamed back to one of the Anrufe ships, they FTL'd away as fast as they could, off to Sovereign for repairs.
-
"We will meet again." UnStellar said, his voice echoing through his portal labyrinth.
-
[Shall we give chase?]
[Negative. They're gone, no doubt about it. No reason to waste resources going after them...Not YET. They'll get what's coming to them]
And with the day's excitement drawn to a close, the Mechera forces got back to their construction duties. The phased ships went back into normal space, no threat to fight anymore. And on the First Battalion, the Mechera weren't aware whether the figure was speaking to them, or the foe that'd just fled, but all the same the two guards nodded towards the portals, acknowledging their apparent ally's words.
-
He appeared before them from the portal, as his labyrinth suddenly closed. Thousands of portal spheres began streaming into his briefcase.
"You guys are warriors! I respect you for that."
-
They were somewhat surprised by his entrance, having thought he'd left by his earlier words, but they quickly regained their composure, and responded to his compliment with,"We're soldiers, in many ways same as you. We did no less than what those we protect would ask, and strive to exceed those expectations. It's...Rare to hear someone acknowledge this for us. Thank you very much for your words."
-
He nodded in agreement.
"My home dimension would honor you. We have a strong respect for power, which you exemplify. Thank you for your aid, it's a damn shame he got away. If you ever catch him or his friends again, you have to kill them. They will always get away some how, if you wait too long. The Anrufe are a tenacious foe." He spoke like one who had dealt with them in the past.
-
Suddenly, two other Mazheek appeared near them. Kailey and Felix teleported in, still clasping hands in front of them and still smiling. For the most fleeting of seconds, they simply stood there, smiling at one another, but Kailey caught herself, the smile fading. She drew back from Felix, dropping his hands. UnStellar gazed at them with a bewildered look on his face.
"What are you guys doing here? Where's Julia?"
"She's at the Club. Archer's looking after her, probably keeping her in the panic room." Felix spoke up, happy to change the subject from their awkward note.
"But, why-" Kailey stopped UnStellar short.
"Furlise here thinks the Anrufe will be coming back. We thought you could use backup." UnStellar gazed knowingly at Felix.
"Thank you." He said with a nod, and they both knew what he was talking about without words.
"You could have just used the rune..." Felix offered.
"Yeah, you're right. I didn't think of that." He paused for a second, rolling up his sleeve and checking his right forearm. Three individual runes were tattooed there, each distinctly different from the rest. The closest one glowed briefly, and UnStellar nodded to himself with a smirk.
"She's at the bar. Archer's there, the bartender seems worried. She's pissed." The three shared a brief laugh.
"So boss, what's the plan?" Kailey inquired of UnStellar. He took a second to contemplate, and then motioned towards the two Mechera.
"These are the Mechera. You've probably heard of them. They are great warriors, and fought Zere more then I did. You should ready yourselves for an attack, my friend Felix thinks they're coming back. His whims are usually right."
He turned back to his friends.
"As for the plan, well, the Anrufe move fast. They don't screw around with petty spells, they are all business. They will be attacking the planet more then us, no doubt, and can destroy entire planets in minutes. Especially if their is a lot of them. Felix?"
"Use that to our advantage. Kailey, hit the ones attacking the planet rather then us. Me and Stella will run our typical routes. We don't want to use too much to fast. Sit back and let them dish it out. Hopefully, they will wear themselves out quickly. Turn the momentum, like usual." UnStellar nodded.
"I'll keep you covered, Kailey. Don't let them touch this world. I'm fond of it." The three exchanged glances and nods.
"Any idea what their numbers are?" Felix asked.
"Haven't the damndest. Zere was the only one I really knew, but I know there are others. Half a dozen? Maybe more."
"Comforting numbers. These are some of the best magic users in the universe, right?" UnStellar nodded.
"At the very least, this dimension. I kept my ears open for news about them on Tefillin. It sounds like the others are at least as strong as Zere. They use tech, too. They have fleets of advanced ships, and will most likely be using those. Our Mecheran friends should be able to handle those." He nodded towards them. The three stood in silence, thinking on the fight ahead. Kailey nervously fiddled with a cheap necklace, and silently chanted,
"Trust not Gods nor sword..." It was barely more then a whisper. But UnStellar picked up on it, and continued the creed louder,
"For they will break under your heel."
"Trust not chains nor walls." Felix added.
"For they will break from your knees." Kailey said nodding.
"Your enemies knees will only bow." Said UnStellar.
"Trust not the future, nor sacred bonds." This from Felix.
"Lest you find your hips broken."
"Trust only your heart,"
"Beating defiantly in your chest,"
"Strongly within your ribs,"
"Carry your weight on your shoulders,"
"Think with your mind,"
"For this is the way of the Mazheek." The three finished in unison. They met each others gaze one more time.
"Cloak & Dagger." UnStellar said plainly.
