After the refugee crew had been settled in, Aki had changed out of her Class B, and into her usual black dress (A tactic which she uses to distract the men at the table). It is pretty well known that Aki hosts her famous Poker nights once a month, and its another known fact that she almost always wins. Even without her distraction tactic, she was as fierce a poker player as she was anything else... Ask Maxis.

Her place was ready. The poker tables were out, the dealer had arrived early to set up, and catering had come and gone. She looked as her watch clicked to 6:50. 10 more minutes. She sat in a nearby chair chatting with Agent Tarkov, who was wearing his typical G-Man suit, it was the only thing he had packed other than his combat uniform. She had explained to the refugees what was going on tonight, and offered them a chance to play, on the house, but whether r not they wanted to was really up to them... They had a busy day.
The poker game itself wasn't easily accessible though. You needed a special black poker ship with a golden "A" embroidered onto it. Most first time players came as guests, and are offered a chip from Aki if they do well enough. Several people carried these, Director Hermitage, Senator Decadea at one point, and the Mechera General Thel Valdamee' is rumored to own one as well, but he rarely shows up. Aki continued to wait for Maxis and the other with Tarkov.
-
Maxis entered the room, dressed in his casual black undershirt, showing off his leanly muscled arms, and black combat trousers and boots. His electric blue eyes scanned the room and sat next to his girlfriend, grinning and pulling his black poker chip out of his back pocket.
"well, Tarkov, better just put our money out right now."

It had been a long day at work. Amy had been the one coordinating the Hand's cleanup and investigation after Zere's attack that morning, with Hermitage in a safehouse somewhere. She'd escorted K2323 and Chal to Hermitage later. Hermitage had been acting strange ever since the attack, and she didn't know why, but he seemed to make particular note of how she needed to be careful. Then he had sent her... Here, to play poker with the boys (and Aki)? She wasn't even good at poker.
She timidly walked into the room, clutching Hermitage's black poker chip in her hand as her eyes scanned the room for someone she knew.
-
A few people had arrived, a few Senators from the armed forces sub-committee, another one of the Zarethian Fleet Admirals, There was Agent Tarkov, who immediately recognized the Assistant Director and promptly stood when she walked in, Maxis, and the refugee crew. Most were standing around the bar and talking, Aki was sitting next to Maxis and staring at Tarkov as he suddenly stood at the presence of Amy.
"Um, um, Admiral Sora?" Tarkov asks. "Why is Assistant Director Jacobs here?" he sounded somewhat frantic.
-
Captain Ivilantar of the Crew walked in, and after looking puzzled at the table asked, "What's going on?"
-
Amy walked across the room, towards Aki, smiling as she heard a few of the guests behind her comment on her ass. When she arrived at the bar, she casually and slightly bowed to the present company. "Heya, boys," she said aloud, "Admiral, hope you don't mind if I kick some ass tonight."
...She was going to make a damn fool of herself.
-
Tarkov sat down once more, and laid back in his chair. "I guess Hermitage isn't coming..." he says to Maxis. He was looking forward to playing cards with his boss.
"Nice ass..." Aki commented to Maxis about Amy. A slightly common practice of hers. When Amy yelled to her she smiled. "Of course Miss, Assistant Director. I take it that Regis isn't coming?"she calls back.
-
"Afraid not," she called out, "He sends his best though!"
-
Ivilantar sat down next to Tarkov, awkwardly not knowing what was going on.
-
"Oh right..." Aki jumps up. "Like i was saying earlier to you guys, every month I host a poker night for some friends. You all were lucky enough to come today Now the standard buy in is 500 credits, but if you all want to play, its on the house." she explained.
"The first round is Blackjack, followed by an optional round of Acey Deucey, and finally Texas Hold'em. Winner takes all." she said in her ecstatic tone of voice.
-
Maxis grinned and nodded. "Well, you know I'm in." He said, leaning back in the couch.
-
"Sounds good to me," Amy replied, smiling.
-
Before they started though, the doorbell rang.
Maxis looked up and frowned. "Wonder who that is?" He muttered as he got up and manuevered his way over to the door, undid the lock and opened it. "Yes?" He asked the woman in a uniform he had never seen before. She wore a gray cotton coat over the same gray trousers. THere were black buttons that kept it clasped together and two white lines moving down the side of her arms and legs. Ivilantar and Tarkov, on the other hand, would recognize it as the uniform worn by the guards at Rapture.
The woman, tall, lean and fierce looking with black hair and red eyes looked down at Maxis over her hooked nose. "I am under orders to bring Mr. Ivilantar and his crew to another location. They are to be helped home." She said with no emotion, scanning the whole room.
-
Tarkov effectively pulled out his sidearm and took cover behind a couch at the sight of here. Aki looked up with a quizzical look. "Which office are you from?" She calls to her.
-
OOC: Ivilantar's a Ms, not a Mr
Ivilantar sat still, not having moved a muscle. She hadn't seen anything to make these guys seem like horrible criminals or anything, but Tarkov's reaction put her on edge.
After a moment, she responded with a single word. "Home?"
-
(Your names make no sense :P)
The woman nodded, disregarding Tarkov and Aki for the moment. "Yes, Ma'am. We wish to make contact with your people as soon as possible in order to reassure them of you and your crew's safety but also to open diplomatic negotiations." She turned her head ever so slightly towards Aki. "I'm not from a department per se. I come here due to orders from the highest possible authority. "
-
OOC: That's because Ivilantar is her last name 0'.0'
"We'll help you find our home," Capt. Ivilantar started, "But my crew has been training for this exploratory mission for years. We're not yet ready to go home."
-
The woman raised an eyebrow. "As you wish but it may be wise to let your government know what has happened. Either way, I must insist you come with me."
-
Ivilantar paused for a second. She glanced at Tarkov, and then back at the woman here to collect her. Reluctantly, she stepped forward.
(Now wait for Lyoko's post. As much as i'd love to keep going, I think he deserves a reaction)
-
Tarkov was still in cover behind the couch with his side arm. He kept trying to get the attention of Aki, and signalling her strategic orders, but to no avail.
"Highest possible authority, huh" Aki stood up with her hands on her hips. "So, the Council wants them i presume, and you have written orders to prove this?" Aki asked and stepped forward as well.
-
The woman snapped her fingers and a teleconference sheet appeared. It listed two council members and this woman, referenced as Agent Liselle talking about the new comers and them giving her orders to collect them. She floated this over to Aki with magic.
"So to speak." She said.
-
Ivilantar looked at Tarkov. He was acting so strongly she knew there was something wrong with the new girl. But what could she do? She was backed into a corner. Going with her seemed to be the only viable option, but she was no sheep. She would not be sheared or slaughtered. As she fiddled her hand through her pocket nervously, showing no other signs of fear, she spoke up.
"Give me an hour to get my crew together and ready to move," She responded.
-
The woman raised her eyebrow but nodded. "As you wish. I'll be back in an hours time." She said, nodding to Aki before turning around and walking past Maxis and out the door.
Maxis stared as she walked out then closed the door.
"Well, um... What was that all about?" He asked, leaning against the wall.
-
Ivilantar barely any attention to Maxis. She walked to Tarkov, pulled him up by his shoulder, and said to him in an aggravated tone, "A word?"
-
Tarkov holstered his sidearm and nodded. "I suppose you want to know what that was all about?"
-
"What that was about, why my crew is so important," Ivilantar started, but leaning closer, she whispered almost through her teeth,
"And for the love of Aser, what is so horrible about Rapture."
-
"Perhaps I should leave?" Amy said, standing.
-
"I dunno. Maybe you should stay. I'd like to know what that was all about." Maxis said, striding over and sitting on the couch next to Aki. "Its not everyday someone like that comes around."
-
"No, no, its alright Ms. Jacobs." her gaze shifts over towards Tarkov. "And what was all of that about, Commander?" she asked firmly, quickly losing her carefree, manner, and switching to her intimidating 'Im the fucking fleet admiral, and you will do what i say' attitude.
"It was nothing, seriously. Im just a little jumpy is all." he nervously smiles trying to ease the rest of the room. "The Captain was just offering to help me with something in the other room, right Captain?" he says.
-
When Aki would look at Ivilantar, the captain would nod her head in reassurance.
-
"Uh huh. I'm sure that was exactly the reason you jumped over the couch. Whats up, Tarkov?" Asked Maxis, his easy going face hardening slightly as he frowned.
-
"Nothing gentlemen. Im just a it jumpy after today's events at the capitol. Come along ma'am" Tarkov steps into the kitchen and urges her to follow him.
Aki stared at Tarkov, unconvinced. "Think it has anything to do with why they all dropped off radar for a few hours earlier today?" she asks Maxis.
-
"I think it has everything to do with that, Aki." Maxis said slowly, still eyeballing Tarkov's fleeing back.
-
Ivilantar followed, almost trying to walk ahead of him as she did. Once they made it into the kitchen, she stopped and started to look at him intently.
-
Tarkov quickly glances out of the doorway at Aki and then quickly closes the curtains. He turns to Ivilantar and sighs. "Well, as you are probably aware, I work for the Zarethian Intelligence Agemcy, aka The Hand, as an agent for the Homeland Intervention Response Unit. Well, as expected, I have connections in the Intelligence Community."
He glances around and lowers his voice. "I asked around about Rapture, and this Mr. Outside. Everyone I asked either told me to stay out of it, or they became afraid. At this point, I don't know what to think."
-
"What do you suppose that was all about?" Amy asked now, breaking the silence as the two left.
-
"I... Don't know." Maxis said, turning to glare slightly at the door. "I guess that stranger spooked him... or something."
-
"So wait, you honestly don't know anything about it?" Ivilantar said in sincere sounding voice.
-
"Look, from all i could ascertain was that this Outside guy was a wetworks guy involved with some pretty nasty shit. Went under the callsign Vector, because he was a 'Hyperleathal vector' according to my source. " he looks around again. "Its definitely something that shouldnt be messed with. I don't trust it, or him."
------------
"Hes acting wierd... Even for a Hand Agent." She glances towards Amy. "Do you know anything about this, Jacobs?"
-
"Unfortunately that doesn't seem like much of an option anymore," Ivilantar stated, "seeing as they're collecting my crew in an hour."
-
"No," Amy replied, shaking her head, "Maybe it has something to do with earlier today."
-
(OOC: Hello? Um... Helloooooo?)
-
(At this point, we can assume Amy left on Hand business.)
"My only advice is to go with them, but get out of there the second things get sketchy." He pulls out his card and hands it to her. "Call me if you're in trouble."
-
Ivilantar took the card and examined it. Unfortunately for her, she had only been in the rest of the universe for a few days, and she didn't understand most of what it said. "How does this work?" she asked.
-
"Just get your hands on a Galaxy Phone, or a pay phone, and call that number on it."
-
"Alright then," Ivilantar said, slipping the card into her pocket. She was thinking it was trivial, but the more she thought the more she realized that it could be a great tool to her later on. The only real problem that remained in her mind would be that if any real trouble arouse she couldn't spread it to Tarkov. "Thank you," she replied, "for all your help."
-
"Of course." he nods to her. "Sorry i can't be of more help, but this is apparently even over the Director's head."
-
She gave him a sincere nod, a farewell of sorts, then proceeded to where her crew is staying showing little of her deep concern and nervousness for what was about to happen.
-
Im gonna go with its time for another visit.
A knock on the door brought Maxis walking uncertainly over. He opened the door, revealing the same woman, flanked by two guards wearing the same uniforms.
"Its time to go." She said simply.
-
The Heliphlein were finishing packing, and thus none of them were right there to greet them.
-
Aki reluctantly greeted the woman, with Tarkov standing behind her. "They're almost ready to go Oscar Mike." she said. She immediately darted a "go tell your farewells to your girlfriend, because we're going to have a talk" look towards Tarkov. "If you will kindly go see the Commander, he will gladly sign over the custody and protective detail over to you."
-
The woman turned her steely gaze towards Tarkov and walked forward. "I need no form, simply the seal of council approval... or higher." She said, once again showing the slip of paper with the mysterious seal on it. "The latter was easier to aquire."
