It had been more than eight years.
What normally would have been just a small drop in the ocean of time had been a living hell for Asura. If one saw her as she was currently, the only description would be, a complete wreck. Thinks were breaking by the second and even being Time its self, Asura, didn't have the power to fix them. When all this had started it had been merely a few books that had disappeared. An item lost to time or even a person of no significant value to history. A hindrance, but at the time not that big of a deal.
But as year by year went by, it had increased. More books were shown to be missing; things from the smallest and mundane to even higher events of importance in some random timeline. Curiously enough it hadn't affected the fixed timeline yet. But one could only wonder what was next. Things were becoming quite chaotic that if Asura didn't know better, she could swear it was the work of Anarchy. But the Embodiment of Chaos had died, ...hadn't he?
At least in the main timeline he had. And as far as Asura could tell there had been no successor chosen. Or had there...? Had that book too been taken? At this point, Asura could never be sure. It would have to be investigated. Asura could no longer trust the records or even her own knowledge, time its self, what the records symbolically represented. No, to find the information she needed, she would have to stick to looking into it, herself, or better yet, have someone do it for her.
Raising her staff, Asura tapped the end of it to the ground sending out a signal through the timeline of a specific individual to call that person to her. Things had become too unacceptable to continue on as they were. Something had to be done. For this task. Asura would need the Templars. She would need Jay.
-
Null and Void appeared in the Records of Time, not in response to Asura's summoning of Jay but of their own accord. For the past nine years, they'd been helping Auras with her paradoxic time troubles, as they'd said they would. At first, Void hardly put forth any effort, mostly dragged along by Null, but this quest gave them...Purpose. Soon enough, he'd been helping out with the zeal of any Templar, though none of the timey-wimey powers. They'd found reason to be, however possibly temporary.
As Void faded in, he took one look at Asura and, crass as ever, said,"Jeez, you look like hell. I know everything's falling apart, but even you need to take a rest day every once in a while. You'll get nothing done if you don't still even have the strength to keep things runnin' day-to-day."
-
"You seriously dare insult the Lady Asura?" The voice of Jay Stryder echoed before he appeared in the Records before Asura and dropping to one knee "My Lady... So sorry for not checkin' in sooner, i've gained some apprentices y'see a-" He looked to Null and Void "And who are these guys?" He stared at the two of them intently
-
"I am Null, and my companion is Void. We both comprise Emptiness." Null said, his voice entirely without inflection or emotion. Not even tired or bored, just seemed to be lacking both.
"Also known as one of the VERY few Embodiment forces that actually give a shit about what's going on with the Records and Lordess Time. An' all I was sayin' was she could stand to take a break once in a blue moon before she exhausts herself to death. If that's a insult where you come from, then yer even more messed the fuck up than me an' monochrome over there." Void said, gesturing to Null.
-
"You could stand to change your tone, buddy" Jay spat, staring at Void "If we weren't in the presence of the Lady i'd be kicking your ass left right and center."
-
"I don't hide myself, no matter who I'm speaking to. Ask me, that's a hell of a lot more respectful than changing the way you speak just 'cause of their title. Don't like it, speak to Null. I'm sure he's got the 'tone' yer lookin' for. Now, are you goin' keep ranting about manners or do you think it might be a good time to hear what's up with Lordess Time?" He saying, only referring to Asura without being sarcastic/sneering.
-
A tall man, wearing a large, white cloak that envelopes his entire body, arrives as well, recognizing the intent of the call. "Asura, things are getting progressively worse, I presume?"
-
((OOC- Hik? Could you post here? I've got other places for Jay to be that i'd rather not play my full perpetuality hand with.))
-
(Umm guys.. she didn't call the Embodiments. She called Jay only. I understand Null and Void, but Nisorin...?)
"Void and Null were merely helping to sort something that began years ago," Asura motioned for them to stay quiet. "I did not want to alert you because at the time it hadn't become all that serious and you were busy with the affairs of the universe. Therefore only the other embodiments were informed. But as of now things have only become objectively worse." Asura paused for a moment as she leaned against her staff.
"There are books missing from the records. Events, objects, people, a variety of many in different timelines, but surprisingly none from the main timeline. Normally this would not require action. Except, the books that are missing, I have no recollection of. They have been erased from history. Someone or something is messing with time."
-
Jay looked away from Void the moment that Asura began to speak "But..." The Templar's eyes widened as it dawned on him what this meant "That's... That's impossible." He looked completely dumbstruck as his eyes darted around the room "How... How can someone even..." He began absentmindedly pacing, taking off his hat before turning dart back to Asura "I mean... Some cases you can sorta fudge the books but like.... Gone? How long's this been happening?"
-
"Since after the Plex war and before the fall of False Heaven." Asura replied. "The other embodiments were informed so they could keep a look out for anyone who attempted to manipulate any of the other forces."
-
"And you have like... No idea about any of it?" Jay sighed, just shockingly confused "This... This should be impossible..."
-
(I take it I've been kicked out of the thread then? -.-)
-
OOC: And suddenly six Cadinae's from different parallel timelines appeared in a silver flash! ;D
I think so.
-
"Whether or not it should be impossible is of no importance. The fact is, its happening, Templar. We need to stop who-or what-ever is doing this, before it erases all of the Records of Time. We must focus on the task at hand." Null said, walking forwards from where he was. He still kept his voice toneless...Really creepy to listen to.
-
(OOC: Yeaaaah no Nik.)
"The only lead we have on who it may possibly be is the Embodiment of Chaos." Asura stated, "Before he died he may have named a successor. If that has happened it would explain some but not all of the happenings. That successor would need to be found."
-
Jay paused for a moment, deep in thought before piping up"...Is his book gone?" He held out a hand, trying to summon the book on the embodiment of Chaos- If anything showed his successor it would be that.
-
OOC: His successor is not actually Hermitage, it's a woman by the name of Sierra, who I have yet to create.
-
OOC: Actually, Keith is the successor, so nevermind.
-
((3 day I guess? I only did the attempt thing incase Hik wanted to do something with it but k))
The book appeared in Jay's hand and he looked through it "His successor's some dude called Kieth. Pretty sure I met him fightin' Plex." Jay mused, the book disappearing "I can send one of my apprentices to check it out if you like, or I could go for it myself." He looked over Asura, she was indeed a wreck even if Jay didn't want to admit it "If I may, m'lady, let me leave take over looking after stability for a while. Let yourself rest."
-
The book of Nek suddenly disappeared, along with a number of other books.
-
(Ugh.. what happened to no OOC in topic? Seriously, we have a section for this. It makes IC topics look cluttered and hard to read -.-. Anyways, sorry, was thinking of what to put next.)
"No, no, no." Asura tapped her staff to the ground lightly with every 'no,' said. "We cannot trust the Records of Time. If whoever is behind this is powerful enough to mess with time in such a way to erase books without my knowledge. We can only assume they may also have the power to change things. If the cause is to be investigated, it is best done by person. Even other embodiments may be the worst case, here. That is why I have summoned you. We need this looked into without the being behind it knowing it is being looked into. I trust this task to only you and your followers."
The vanished book went unnoticed by Asura.
-
"I..." Jay sighed "I understand, m'lady." This was hard for Jay to accept, for as long as he could remember he'd been trusting the Records for pretty much any information he didn't happen to know "I will put serious investigation into this. Is there anything else I can do for you, m'lady?"
-
"That will be all, thank you." Asura replied as she looked over to Null and Void. "Please inform the other Embodiments that their search should be stopped. They need only to keep a look out for if any of their own forces become amiss. Other than that, we do not want the being responsible for this to have any reason to be suspicious or be alerted in any way. That is why the results that come of this need to be kept secret and only amongst ourselves."
-
Jay faded away, seeming almost defeated. He rejoined with the other Jays of the universe currently to maintain integrity.
