Ashley was walking through the city that was once controlled by the Neo Narrikian. She tried hard not to be noticed for she didn't want to fight anyone.

An Anrufe fighter ship flew overhead, watching her. She did not seem to be much of a threat, but then, the Anrufe did not know. Of course, it was easy to detect someone arriving in an abandoned city.

Ashley noticed the fighter and started to worry. She couldn't recognize it but she didn't want to know who it was. Worried it could be the Earth's United Military she started to run away from it.

When she ran, she would bump into the side of a building by accident. The building's side would turn putting her inside and hiding her from the fighter. Inside the building where she could see there would be an arsenal of Neo Narrikian weapons that the Anrufe already had access to.

The fighter's termal would still immediately pick her up again...

Outside the building a DAIS squad advanced towards it. "Raiders wanna blow down the wall gentlemen... lucky for us, MI is smart enough to use the front door." he joked. "Alright, anyway, the fighter reports that it is only a human, so try not to harm it if you don't need to."
"Yes sir!" came several replies.
"Alpha Chalk, you take the parameter. Bravo Chalk, Cover the front. Charlie Chalk, you're going in with me." Marathon and his unit go into the building. Quickly clearing the building with systematic perfection, they quickly reached the girl... she looked terrified. "Stand down" Marathon ordered and the soldiers lowered their weapons.
Marathon looked around to see the tech and weapons... "Thats not right is it?" the soldiers raised their weapons again.

"Please don't hurt me." Ashley cried. "I am code named Lightning, a Sergeant of the Earth United Military. Or I was was."

Behind Ashley, in the wall she had her back to would be a teleport sphere.

Not knowing it was back there Ashley began to walk forward. She threw the knife on the floor and put her hands up in the air. "I surrender." She said.

With a simple sigh, AT went up. "Look, we're not here to hurt you, sergeant... We simply want to know why youre here, and if this stuff is your workings." He points to the tech and the wall where the sphere was.
"Guys, take it easy, she isn't a Narikian." He tells his men as they lower their weapons once more.

"I abandoned the Earth United Military. I had no choice. I couldn't stand by and watch what was happening after my parents were killed in an attack that happened years ago on Earth. I have been traveling the Galaxies since then never staying anywhere for too long. I only came to this planet cause there were rumors that no one lived on it. I don't even know what this building is, let alone what the hell this technology is doing in it." Ashley explained.

"Fair enough... Well, as you've already seen, this planet is owned, but we arent exactly the UEM." His voice remained calming and polite. "My name is Marathon, and we are the DAIS." He held out his robotic hand to her.

Ashley bent forward to pick up her father's knife and reattached it to her belt. Then she walked over and took his hand. "What is going to happen to me?"

Marathon shrugged. "Seeing as you're not an immediate threat to this planet, we're simply just going to take you in, and ask some questions. After that, you have the option to leave." He smiled, but realized that through his helmet, she couldn't see it.

"I guess." At that moment Ashley put her beautiful hair back and smiled jesting him to lead the way.

"Alrighty then..." He turned around. "Bravo, suspect in custody. No threat present..." He calls in. Outside, an APC waited for Marathon and the girl.
"Sorry its not exactly a luxury vehicle." He chuckled and opened the door for her.

She gotten in it without any resistance.

He and the rest of his chalk filed into the vehicle. Most took their seats on the opposite side of the APC as her, leaving Marathon the only one near her. "Sorry about that, they're kinda nervous around organics."
After a few moments the APC started to move. It drove for about 7 or 8 minutes before stopping. The door is suddenly opened by another soldier. "Marathon?" A voice calls through. "MI3?"
"Yeah, its us." he answers back. He gets out of his seat and out the door. "This way ma'am." He directs her to the building straight ahead.

Ashley smiled at him in an attempt to seduce him but wasn't sure if it was working. She knew that if she wanted to make it through this she would need a friend. She let them lead the way as she got out.

He leads her into the large building. He greeted several sentries and led her down a few winding hallways and into a conference room that wasn't currently in use. "Take a seat and we'll be there shorty, ma'am." He instructed. "Um, do you require metabolic energy? Erm... Food?"

"Only if it isn't any trouble." She said with a smile.

"Alright. Ill see what i can get" he said and closed the door. After a few minutes he opened the door. "MREs work?" He asked her.

"Sure. How do you have those anyways?"

He walks in and hands it to her. "The DAIS are under an organization known as the Anrufe. They employ the help of organics as well as us." He explained. "That's why you'll see soldiers with different uniforms around."
"But enough about that. So, you deserted from the UEM?"

"Yeah. I couldn't stay on Earth for too much longer. Ever since the world found out about the rest of the universe people started rioting. It isn't in any official reports but that is why the UEM was made. In order to contain the violence. They aren't even worrying about an invasion." Ashley answered. "My parents died because of the riots. My dad ran a store and when the people started rioting it was robbed and they shot and killed my mom and dad. That was about the time I joined. Yet after all that many of Earth's cities are still ruled by crime."

"Im terribly sorry about that. I couldn't even begin to feel your pain. Being an AI, I don't have parents, but I would hate to see my creator killed." Marathon tried making sense of it. "So, how long has it been since you deserted?"

"A month at least. I mean it really is hard to tell. Time on other planets are different so I really don't know." She replied.

"Yeah, most people dont really look at the Galactic Standard Time that much, so i can see how that can get a little messed up. So, what did you do in the UEM. Were you a squad leader? Intelligence? Operations?" he asked.

"More of a black ops unit. Best in my class." She announced.

"Impressive, sergeant." he nodded. "And are you currently allied with anyone or seeking any kind of refuge or employment?"

"Not as of right now. I'm currently just doing what I can to stay off the military's trail and help others."

"Very noble of you..." he commented and read a read off on his HUD about the situation at Outpost Charlie. He sits forward in his chair, leaning in towards her. "And would you still be interested in participating in covert operations, while being able to accomplish your own goals, and needs?"

"Depends on when the Anrufe started to care about the good of the universe."

"We..." he gestures around the room. "Do not consider ourselves Anrufe... Only the DAIS Director is, but i can understand the common misconception."

"If you guys are truly trying to help then as long as our goals are common I will help. But if the goals aren't common then I won't help with the mission. I want to truly help people, and right now I haven't found a way too." She said as she picked up her father's knife from her belt. "I don't have the resources to jump from planet to planet helping people. If you will let me help you guys help people than I will help."

"Of course, of course..." Marathon nodded again. "If you so choose, you may stay here with us, or you leave of your own free will. If you choose to leave, neither I nor anyone here will attempt to stop you... But should you choose to stay, we can provide you with the resources you need, the protection you seek, and the power you rightly deserve."

The last thing he said about power raised Ashley's awareness. She didn't think something was right. She knew her face wasn't hiding that fact either. "What do you mean by power I deserve?" She asked cautiously.

"We are on the forefront of magical, and technological research, ironic right? With the DAIS, you can have access to all of it... Vast libraries of knowledge. With us, you may set your own goals. You can make a difference to the benefit of your people... You see, there was a reason why earth was almost never attacked... The DAIS protected you. We believe that humanity is special, and should be preserved."

Ashley knew that she couldn't trust the DAIS in general but she also knew she had nothing to lose. She had to admit that right now the offer sounded better than what she was doing now. "Fine then. I'll accept your offer."

"Oh wonderful, sergeant Lightning. We will make the preparations needed for you to be taken to the MI1 Hq." He said in a joyous tone. "There, you will be trained, if needed; and assigned an MI division more suited for a lady of your skill set."

"I probably won't need any training because I was the best in my unit."

"Then the only thing that would remain is your ID, Unit, ect, ect. The process is usually quite fast."

"What kind of unit would I be placed in?"

"Well, that would all depend on what you'd like to do. We have 7 MI divisions. MI1, is headquarters. MI2, is SOCOM, MI3, is the United Naval Intelligence-Intervention Taskforce, MI4, is Special Warfare Development, similar to your old job. MI5, is the internal Security Service. MI6, is the external Secret Intelligence Service. And MI7, is the elite unit called Delta's Force..." He explained.

Ashley had no idea what she wanted to do. Then she thought quickly of a valid question, mainly to stall. "Is there anything I can be in charge with?"

He looks at a listing from his HUD. "Well... UNIT is looking for squad leaders; SWD is looking for team leaders, and operatives; SIS is looking for ship officers. That may be about it..."

"I think I like the sounds of MI4. I work better in the "Special" category anyways."

"Good, good. I'm sure they'd be a fitting choice as well." He made a quick note on his HUD. "Transport to the MI1 building on Ground Island will be departing soon if you wish to get started." He points out the window at a Battlegroup of several Capital ships and a large escort contingent.

"Understood." She followed them to the ship.

Marathon, and Lightning arrive at the ship and are greeted by an MI5 officer before boarding. "Identification?" he asks.
"Assistant Director, Marathon. MI3." he points to lightning. "...And guest." he says. The MI5 officer steps aside and lets them through. "Security Service... gotta love 'em" he says as they enter the ship. He leads her to the command bridge filled with holograms of AIs doing their work.
He looks down to Lightning. "Id suggest taking a seat until we make ti out of here. It can get a little bumpy." he instructs her.

Ashley quietly sat down, wondering if she made the right decision to join them.
