Kinda... It's like a mixture of pokemon, digimon, and medabots put to SP terminology and not ripped.
Like pokemon in that they can be battled/trained/traded/kept as pets. Like Digimon in that they can be a partner for more than just a battling pet. Like Medabots in that you can win or trade 'parts' (data simulations) for ARI and upgrade and change them as they grow. ;D
But only 'like' them. Not ripped. If it was a rip then Digimon would be Ripping from Pokemon and Medabots ripping from them both. Hell, may as well call it a rip of Megaman while you're at it or Angelic Layer. Artificial simulations and blah. It's just in the genre.

You find an in-character reason to go to Lus and either design your own ARI or make friends with one of the wild ones ;D

Well, it's been like eight years, I see no reason why Sam wouldn't be there, what Earth going all hippy on him. Do I get some kind of device telling me what each one is? like an index or something? Maybe a....ARIdex? :P

Um... I don't want to go fully Pokemon derivative... if you can think of any tech to update the system that's not too close to the shows listed, go ahead. But present it to Rev and Gen in-character or request it as personal.
...if we could full on derive I'd do watches like Medabots does.

Lol we could thow Cardcaptors and Yugioh in there and have people summon them through cards. Like you carry them in cards and summon them for things then later return them to that card. The cards would be for off-planet like when you take them off of Lus so they can exist without the picobot sensor system on Lus. They travel with you after being summoned from the card for whatever, then go back to it to recharge their "existence." So they can continue existing outside of Lus. So yws, Ari can... "die" by being unable to be charged. But they can come back by going back to Lus and recreating their save data (memory cards anyone?)

Sorry, I didn't understand your question before Swift. Do you mean make in-character or out of character? Either is fine. I made it as something I hope will catch on.

I personally like cards, but that's just cause of my increased interest in freaking yugioh and card games and wanting to make them andgfaugklvnbfsdhjkgvbukywtrsf [insert spazzing out here.]
Other than that, I feel like making a character specifically for Lus itself and he'd, like, probably have tarot cards or something of the sort.

I attempted to fix it.
But anyways, your character wouldn't have to be Lus only. The cards are for the reason of taking them off of Lus. Lus would just be like... In pokemon the home town (lol). Or if it ever catches on dimensionally, they can start from anywhere.

If not I can do it. But I'm picturing a literally metal card with a CPU (or whatever future equivalent) in it. These are the main ARI cards where you store your ARI. Information about that ARI and what not is on this card and this is basically everything. (Think digivice/gigapet/scannerz)
Whenever you win battles or trade, the 'parts' of data are transferred from their card to your card... Hope that's not too much of a rip of medabots with the watches x.x
Then you have upgrade and update cards. These are cards that hold data that you can update your main ARI card with to make them more powerful or add skills/abilities to them. (Weapons are part of the main card)
The Upgrade cards however are used to 'build' your ARI. Since you've already created their appearance the main design system can't change them (think of a Readable CD-ROM you can only write to it once). The Upgrade cards are used to edit and built their appearance and form.
Also to make it less like Pokemon. The card is NOT the ARI home like a pokeball. It is simply it's ... hmm It's Port! It's what stores its data and can be used to recharge its existence when off of Lus. But when it's not recharging, ARI are kept with their owner/partner/family member/programmer.
Hmm... ARI Programmer? (Instead of Trainer/Tamer) Or maybe Coder...
....And I'll let people know when I think of more. Will request soon.
ALSO, if anyone has any ideas. PLEASE feel free to chime in. I don't want to design the whole system myself. Just remember we're going by computer terms and such. Like ARI Card = Holds ARI Source Code. ARI Coders/Programmers, etc.

I think I managed to stuff in everything I had about the subject in this. It'd seem kinda odd for a bunch of characters to carry around a deck of cards wherever they went, so I figured I'd go with a more suitable design for quick paced ARI battles: It'd kinda suck having to look through all those cards to find the right one when you can pick one out on a ring or something. Plus for those that don't like cards, they have the 3D display too.
