Title: Character Avatars (Gaia, Neopets, etc styles.)
Post by: Queen Bright on March 10, 2012, 01:25:42 AM
Seeing as people have TONS of characters. And TONS of ideas for their characters but lack the drawing skills at times.. This was an idea presented to me by a friend after her showing me yet ANOTHER avatar site out there.

If we made a character avatar creator (and not like the RPG maker sprite one, dear god no) would you use it? It WON'T be like Gaia. The creator is more to show your characters and give them faces, the RP would still be the first and foremost thing. So no battle system, no hundreds of gaia gold you must collect for super rare items! System... (although maybe in the future we could do donation incentives...

It would basically be more like RP with an avatar. RP first, avatar second.

If anyone wants to do this post here now. I'll need spriters, artists (Probably Swift and Me), and for everyone else I need you to post your characters looks. ALL of them. But not just looks, if they change clothes every day like real life? Post them. If they have special faces, emotions, features, items? Post them. EVERYTHING you want in the character creator, POST IT. Including and most importantly HAIR STYLES. A lot of anime-style characters are defined by their hair. Like hell, I'm gonna have a field day trying to get Hikaru's perfect.

For spriters... Zai, Jeebus.... please?

But keep in mind, I intend to start this project AFTER school work is out of the way.
Also, I'm calling dibs on coding the the damn thing as it gives me a chance to practice.

I'll be able to do some art this weekend. Term 4 ended so I'm left without much to do. And in this year's art practice, I want to continue switching styles and working on proportions(No they aren't perfect so stop saying that they are because I know my proportions are still off).

I can practice with avatars, but do keep in mind, I'm not the best at drawing humans. I'm an anthro person, but I do need to work on my humans.
Randomgarbleslightyontopic:
This monday is the start of Term 5 for me, which means I have different classes for another six weeks. First is Advanced art, so I may be able to doodle requests from there. The other class is CWI(Contemporary World Issues) So I'm not sure about that class. As far as I know, I get an extra 1.5 hours to draw for the day.

I'm better off doodling on a big canvas and resizing/cropping to whatever the formatted size it(which I'll need to know for a future reference)

Also playing with zBrush again, but no I'm not gonna do 3D requests until I get used to the program. I will prolly choose a random character(Like Avalanche (http://swiftyuki.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4s2829)*) and start from there.

*Avalanche's meshing is so much smoother, but I need to learn:
-What to export it as(.obj?)
-How to keep the coloring on it(UV Mapping)
-How to UV Map a 3D model
-Magic
