DOCUMENT to Director Hermitage requesting authorization for Enhanced Interrogation Methods in regards to suspect Yairhoff Haydenn, believed to have information pertaining to the attempted bombing on a Capital Tea Shop today.

The room was warm. Toasty -- not enough to really notice, but enough to make one feel that linger of sweat just running down their back, to make their eyes a little weary. Ah, eyes. Yes, there had been lights all around the room, and Yairhoff had been here for a good two hours, waiting. Laughing. He knew the tricks. He knew them all too well. And Agent Kveta Kauliya knew he knew. That made her job all the more difficult.

Finally, the lights shut off. The heat shut off. Yairhoff's face showed no emotion, but inside, he was laughing. He didn't even turn around when he heard the door open behind him, the normal lights illuminating the darkness. Footsteps, light, a woman's. He knew without even turning around. His blank eyes stared, void of any expression, at Kveta as she took her seat in the chair across from Yairhoff, glazing into his eyes. She was going to enjoy this.

She could see his sweat, smell the faint stench of his body, but she knew he wasn't the least bit nervous right now. She wouldn't be. And after all, he had taught her so much. How could she ever interrogate him? Lucky for her, she'd learned a lot since he'd left. After Amy Jacob and the oversight personnel from the Council were put into place, things stepped up at the Zarethian Hand. A lot. For her, that meant less torture, though -- and less answers.

"Yairhoff, Yairhoff, Yairhoff. How does it feel to be back in one of these?" Kveta started, a smug grin on her face.

"Too soon for my taste," Yairhoff replied, "I left the intelligence agency for a reason, rookie."

"Don't call me that."

"Old habits die hard," Yairhoff replied, laughing, "What can I do for the... Zarethian Hand today, Agent Kauliya?"

Kveta placed her file folder on the table between her and Yairhoff, opening it up to reveal pictures from the security footage of the man who had attempted the bombing at the tea shop. Sliding it over towards Yairhoff, she pointed at the man, her eyes locked on Yairhoff's, waiting to get a reaction. No reaction. Of course. Yairhoff's eyes studied the picture, absorbing detail, but nothing seemed to register.

"This man," Agent Kauliya explained, "Is a terrorist by the name of Ivan Navatril. Ever heard of him?"

"The name sounds familiar," Yairhoff replied, "I believe he worked closely with Eric Mann. Security, perhaps? You will excuse me, of course. It's been quite some time since I've done this. What has this... Navatril done?"

"I'm asking the questions here," Kauliya asserted, "When was the last time you communicated with Eric Mann?"

"Right before his death, of course," Yairhoff replied. Kauliya eyed him suspiciously. "Years ago."

"Right," Kauliya replied, "The explosion."

"Ah, yes. Tragic. I can't say he didn't have it coming, though. He was involved in some... Nasty business."

"And Navatril, too?"

"It's possible," Yairhoff replied, "Very possible. Mann probably had his family hostage or something like that. It can be tough when one person who you trust completely betrays you." A grin spread over Yairhoff's face. "But you know all about that, don't you, Kveta?"

Kveta's hands slammed onto the table as she stood up and shouted, "WE DON'T GET TO TALK ABOUT THAT! We... We don't get to talk about him."

She stopped for a minute to regain her composure.

"Come on, Yairhoff. I know you know more than you're telling me. It was your job to know these things -- and to remember them very well. What aren't you telling me?"

"I've told you all I know," Yairhoff replied.

"Yairhoff, please," Kveta rebutted, "Don't make us dig deeper."

"There is one more thing," Yairhoff replied, "I don't know anything about this man here, I really don't. However; I do know something about another man that might be of interest to you, if you're chasing old leads from Eric Mann. His name Vertunes Oyick. He's a smuggler. Got certain... things. Guns, heavy artillery that you don't normally find, on and off the planet for Eric. I wouldn't mention it, because Eric was his biggest client. After Eric died, he pretty much went out of business, but I hear lately he's been operating more than usual. That must mean there's a new client in town. I guarantee, if there's a terrorist in the city, he's getting his arms from Oyick. Find Oyick, you find the terrorist."

"Good," Kauliya replied, "I appreciate the cooperation."

She stood up to leave, but as she walked past, Yairhoff reached out to her. She went on alert at first, but calmed when she saw it was a gentle touch. Yairhoff's eyes looked serious as he stared at Kauliya and said, "Kveta, my dear. You must promise to be very careful. These men, these... Criminals that you are looking into. They are a lot more ruthless than the kind that you normally deal with. Promise me, you will be careful, please."

"You be careful too, Yairhoff," Kveta replied, a bit moved by his honesty, "Good luck on the Senate Race."

Yairhoff burst out laughing as Kveta stepped out into the hallway, moving to the observation deck to meet back up with Isoldr. She walked over to a chair in the observation deck, collapsing into it with a big sigh of relief. What had just happened? She'd gone in there, ready to be tough, and he'd managed to divert her, to make her weak, to make her feel emotion, even if only just slightly. How had he done that? Just mentioning him not even directly by name and made her lose her cool. With yet another deep, deep breath, she looked over at Isoldr, nodding at him.

"Do you think he's telling the truth?"

"We can task Homeland Intervention to check his lead out, Agent." Commander Herokavich, Tarkov's equal in the HIRU, and main competitor for the position of HIRU Colonel stepped forward. "However, i am wondering who authorized the Central Clandestine Service to conduct a domestic snatch and grab operation that would have otherwise been tasked to the HIRU. I know the Stud didnt." he questioned her.

Isoldr was standing in the shadows of the room, not even noticeable. He had masked himself from Yairhoff completely after he was detained. He watched the man's every move, physical and otherwise. From just ten minutes of careful observation even Yairhoff's years of training and advanced repressive skills were rendered useless. He was completely exposed. Every lie, every tick, he made, Isoldr could see the truth. And he reveled in it.

He followed Kauliya out of the room and with one last glance at Yairhoff, he looked back to her. 
"He wasn't lying about most of it. He reveled in feeling he had control over the situation, over you, mostly. Don't show him any emotion next time, don't let him know he is pushing you closer to that edge. As an intelligence agent, you must to remain in control of the situation at all times." He admonished calmly. "But no, he was mostly telling the truth. A little lie to through you off every once in a while."


As the man stepped forward so did Isoldr. He stopped the man before he said anything.
"I know what you're going to say. I know you're angry about this breach of protocal." He flashed the badge of the Inquisition briefly.
"And any and all complaints can be directed towards me. I'll be glad to entertain them." Under his mask he was grinning at once again asserting his control over the situation.
Like that. He said to Kauliya telepathically.

"That's quite fine," Kveta said to Isoldr, "The Commander has every right to question my actions. Of course, I would hate it if the SDUD were to find out that instead of working together with me on this lead, the boys in HIRU were playing jurisdiction games. Doesn't sound very professional to me, how about you, Commander? Now, let's be grown ups and work together, shall we? Your men can handle this smuggler, I don't know how reliable of a source he will be, but any lead is good. I trust we will be in communication? Good."

Not even waiting for an answer, Kveta kept walking, motioning for Isoldr to follow her as they started down the hall.

"If you want to get some sleep, we have quarters here, you know. You're more than welcome to a bed. In the meanwhile, I'm going to do some digging on information about these cultists. I think they must have some connection to everything that's been happening today, don't y-"

Rrrring. Rrriiiiing.

Kveta sighed, reaching down for her Galaxy Phone and answering it.

"Kauliya. Go ahead..... Yes...... Yes, I understand..... Right. Are we sure?.... Very well, then. Get me clear for transport... I don't care HOW bloody awful the battlefield is, I SAID get me transport... That's right... No," she stopped, eyeing Isoldr, "Keep an extra seat open... No. I'm not sure yet.... Just do it.... Right."

Hanging up, she eyed Isoldr. "We just lost all contact with the Temar colony. Total darkness. Like everything there just... Stopped, went dark. Reports from right before indicate sightings and immediate capture of some strange men, possibly cultists like the ones responsible for the attack today in the Senator's Office. I've got to go, me and my team need to be on the first ship out... I'd ask you to come with us, but I think we both know that can't happen."

She smirked, patting Isoldr on the back with her not-so-feminine but friendly hit. "I guess this is until next time, then. If there is a next time. Glad to have met you, I really am. It makes me... Reassured to know there is someone... Monitoring me."

"That badge doesnt impress me..." Herakovich said. "I prefer to take my complaints to the SDUD and Director Hermitage. Speaking of the old boy, does he know about this?" Herakovich questioned her, and the other. "The HIRU Colonel was upset enough to send me."

As he talked, he pressed a few commands into his holopad, tasking a HIRU Team to find the lead.

"This badge is what allows me to call in and have you demoted back to phase 1 in five minutes for interrupting an inquisitorial investigation. " Isoldr said threateningly, despite himself. The Inquisitorial Authority was the most powerful in the Empire, bar none. Not even the Council could override an Inquisitor's request. They only answered to one person, and even they didn't know who he was. "Tell your colonel whose charge the operation was really under." He said as he walked away over to Kauliya.

"I don't sleep." He said shortly. "And this entire investigation regarding the cult is now under Inquisitorial authority. Get a fire team, your choice, and I'll procure the ship and supplies. Congratulations, agent, you're moving on up." He said, turning and mentally making a few calls.
"When you're ready, meet me in docking bay 94C." He called.

"Got it," Kveta replied, a bit taken off guard. She'd only just realized how powerful this guy really was, and here he was, helping her, an agent quite low on the totem pole of the Zarethian Hand's structure. Muddywater Division was a long-shot from Director or even SDUD. And yet, she'd spent the last few hours with someone of greater rank than even the Council. It... Worried her a bit. But in a good way.

Turning and quickly moving to gather her team, a smile spread across her face. She really was movin' on up.
