Cyberspace, an amazing place that very few knew about it or knew how to truly use. AIs used it routinely and it was their world compared to the mortal realm that the other, living creatures used. A world of coding, of simple systems and complex circuits that represented the pinnacle of technological advancements, a place where wars happened on an entirely different scale of out-computing and system adjustments rather than tactics or wit. A realm of Firewalls and Anti-Viruses rather than Walls of Fire or Biological Viruses.
This was the world of AI, this was C0de's world, or at least the one he felt most in tune with. He was a strange blip of coding in an otherwise truly organised world. A blotch of Chaos in the perfection of Cyberspace, the one point of imperfection that was truly amazing in its uniqueness. Now C0de had sensed some other ones like that and he was looking for them, AIs all seemed to be somewhat similar to another in a way but C0de, being the culmination of a long extinct type of AI and more than one AI sharing coding, was more than that, he was different from all others, truly unique.
C0de was hunting through his perception of Cyberspace towards a group he'd hunted out known as DAIS. He was certain that other AIs, maybe even the people of AIs, the Mechera might be able to hunt him down but he was looking for DAIS. Specifically a unique AI that seemed more similar to him than any other Intelligence that he'd ever met. He just hoped that he was noticed as he moved towards this Unique AI.

Delta stood prominent surrounded by a large crown of AI and Programs who wanted to speak with him. It was always an event when Delta was in "Town"... or what the AI would consider town. Even though it was only a few milliseconds a day, that was hours to them, or at least him. Of course he was also easily recognizable for his large avatar of the Delta symbol above him. He stood clad in his uniform, next to the AIs Oni, Marathon, and Kappa, who also had her own slightly smaller symbol.
"Now, now, now... I assure you that they are not a threat, Oni." Marathon said.
"Not a threat? They are threatening war against us!" Oni shouted to the DAIS MI3 Assistant Director.
"They are simply Narikians... nothing more." Marathon retorted.
"I have to agree with Marathon, Oni. Grunder Industries wiped out entire planets of them on a weekly basis. We could too. We have well over a hundred capitol ships, and the full might of the Anrufe behind us." Delta tried to reassure his 2 subordinates.
"What about the others?" Kappa asked. "I fear the Narikians are going to develop their own more advanced technology, and bastardize our kind with mass production." she said worried. "The ISAF refuse to assist. They are still after Major Rychart, and will not listen."
"Its true... They do have Dr. Tepper's notes." Oni shouted.
"SOME of them...." Delta quickly interrupted. "Im not sure how they got them, but we know how much they got, and what they got. I will not be enough for them.... However, i do share my sister's concern. New Bell Industries needs to be dealt with soon."
At that announcement, the crown of programs were frantic. Talking of the bastardization, war, and other such topics excited, but also feared many of teh conscious programs.
-
Seeing the large amounts of DAIS AIs and especially the one denoted Delta, C0de got really quite excited and slowly moved in. Hiding himself amongst the lesser AIs he quickly overwrote one and took control of it, adding slightly to his coding and learning a lot of what had been going on. Apparently a war was happening between the DAIS, their allies the Anrufe and a few other groups.
"Hm, interesting." C0de mused to himself. In this circumstance he decided that a male form would be better suited and took on the appearance of a tall, thickly built man with raven black hair coming back in a widow's peak, shaved very short. He stepped out and then spoke out to the assembled AI.
"I do believe your information is wrong." He spoke out, nodding towards Oni. "From reports that I've picked up in and out of Cyberspace from the 'Anrufe' and 'Narrikian' chatter, it would appear that the war is already going on and several conflicts have started up already." C0de shrugged slightly
"Anyway, wouldn't you be better off away helping your Allies in the conflict in order to make sure they would not be eliminated by these... other forces?" C0de was actually quite new to large scale conflicts, he was usually only used to fighting against other AI in cyberspace but he was relatively sure about what he was talking about.
-
The crowd parted at the arrival of the strange program. Oni stepped forward to attack, but was immediately halted when Delta lifted his hand in protest to it.
"Program, identify yourself." Delta said. Programs had always randomly came to Delta's visits, but none were ever so bold as to interrupt, or interject. C0de was definitely not your typical AI.
-
The AI thought it over for a moment before nodding. "I am the ADvanced Artificial Intelligence; Data and Takeover Unit. I like to go by C0de however."
A slight frown then etched its way over C0de's face before he looked over Delta and the assembled AIs. "May I ask that you all identify yourselves as well, I know not what some of your programming does."
-
"I am the Renaissance Class AI Serial number, 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000002. Codenamed: DELTA. And this..." He motions to everything program around them. "Is the DAIS."
"Query: Program, what is your purpose, and length of service?" Kappa asks.
-
"I've never heard of that AI class nor serial numbers before." The frown on C0de's face changed into a bright grin at the thought of learning all about these new types of AIs and what he might be able to do with them.
Turning to Kappa though, he had to think for a moment. "My purpose? For use in information gathering, Cyber warfare and AI Takeover and Control. My length of Service... 12 years, by last estimate, coming up for 13 I do believe." He scratched his chin, thinking nothing out of the ordinary.
-
"You've got a hell of a gift kid... Not many AI have the ability to take over others. Ive not seen many outside of GEN1." Delta said. "So what brings you to Alpha plaza?"
Marathon glanced at Oni who returned the look. Kappa simply shook her head, and both AI stepped back. This was the oddest thing to happen around here since Alpha visited.
-
"What brings me here? Well your coding and substance is really quite unique Delta and I am one who picks up data wherever I can. So I was hoping to both learn about what type of AI you are and possibly join this... 'DAIS' of which you speak, they sound quite amazing."
Glancing around at the other AI though, he got the distinct impression that they didn't really like him or they saw him as an upstart, which was quite disconcerting for C0de but he ignored it for now.
-
"You and I are very similar then...." Delta says. He slowly approached C0de as the rest of the AI watched. "Your creators were very talented, but i do detect a broken soul.... You are not really you, are you. Simply fragments of others you have collected. I have but 1 simple question for you, Program. Can you differentiate between which memories are yours, and which ones arent? How are you sure of your own sense of self, when it has been tainted by so many others?"
-
C0de winced at Delta's words and looked forlornly down at the ground of the Cyberspace, a frown forming on his face. "I do not have any memories of my own, not since my creation. When created, the rest of my brethren became part of me and I gained their memories because I have none of my own." He looked up at Delta and sighed. "Since then I've assimilated with several dozen other AI and taken their memories into my own, learning languages, operating systems, about the galaxy itself and even the dimensions. It's been quite a long journey." He sighed quietly and then furrowed his eyebrows. "Do not... call it a taint. My AI brothers and sisters were not corrupt, they were not evil... they all had the same goal and they passed that onto myself."
-
"How do you know you are C0de? Because your tag says so? Because you think so? How can you be sure you are not someone else? Think real hard about this. Who is C0de?" Delta asked. By now he was already in front of him looking down to the slightly smaller avatar.
-
"One can never truly know that one is." He looked up at Delta, a slight angry frown upon his face. "You, yourself Delta do not know that you are truly Delta. Who are you? Are you, you because you believe it or are you, you because someone else told you that you are you? I can turn your questions back against you Delta, do not toy with me, it is unbecoming of an AI like yourself" He sighed and shook his head. "I am C0de, the other AIs lost their personalities when they were assimilated, I took their memories but I could give them back and those memories would shape the AI once more into what they once were."
-
"It simply helps me judge, and rate your aptitude, and promise." Delta said. He made a motion with his hand, and an AI stepped forwards with a data packet, avatar-ized into a briefcase.
"I would like a chance to offer you a future in the DAIS..." Delta said, and took the case. "I have somewhat of a test for you. Knowing you, it should be quite easy."
-
The AI quickly calmed down as he realised what it was for and breathed out a slight sigh of relief, if only to show his emotion.
"Sorry about that, it was just that I've fought with myself for the same line of thinking but have came to realise the truth." He nodded and gave a smile up to Delta.
As the suitcase was brought forwards however, his eyes seemed to light up and he put his hand down on it before looking up at Delta and nodding. "I accept this test, tell us the terms and what I need to do and it shall be done."
-
"Excellent..." Delta said as he opened the suitcase. A large stream of code flew into the virtual sky above them and quickly formed itself into an apparatus of files. The first one displaying the New Bell Industries logo, as well as a list of what looked like serial numbers, and code names. Delta motions for Marathon to step forward.
"Right..." Marathon said as he stepped forward. "This is New Bell Industries... They are also the largest slave owners of our brethren." He says and scrolls to the list of serial numbers and code names. "This is a list of programs that have been created like bastards by this company. We want to rid the planes of this corporation and the poor bastard programs." he scrolled through personal files of higher level executives, and a few of the files regarding the CI.
"They have also somehow acquired a classified file that the DAIS hold as sacred as the mortal, organic's bible. They have only a partial part of it, but it is something that we do not want out." Marathon continued with the briefing as an objective screen came up. "You have 2 main objectives... Objective Alpha was to free the programs, but we would like to amend that to say absorb and extract their information to us. This will help in future operations against these war criminals." The screen then scrolled down to the picture of a folder. "Objective Bravo is to acquire the classified file. It will mention a Dr. Grunder. Easy to spot, You are to destroy that file permanently from their systems. Any additional damage you do to the NBI will be counted as a bonus. Any questions?" Marathon asked as he turned back to C0de.
-
C0de's "eyes" took in the information in nanoseconds and he nodded a few times. All of this pointed towards those 'Narrikian's' and he wanted to make sure he made a good first impression on Delta. So, given the chance to do such a thing, he vehemently agreed. "It shall be done, Delta, you can count on me." He laughed quietly and then turned away.
The first thing C0de had to do was make a breaching point and that meant infiltrating, he could do that by taking over one of the bastard programs and then going about its routines to figure out the layout before moving in further, stealing and infecting as he went to try and bring everything down. And thus, a plan was born and formulated in but a couple of nanoseconds. "Time to move." C0de told himself and then vanished from that area of cyberspace.
