Title: Not The American Average
Post by: Ino on February 02, 2013, 09:42:14 PM
"Cause I knew when I first saw you..." Alex mumbled under his breath, watching the people below him moving back and forth. He allowed one foot to dangle simply because he knew it was risky and because no one could seem him from where he was perched under the roof of the palace. It was intricate and allowed many hide outs for people like him that were desperately looking. Alex hated to be seen in public and definitely didn't want to be seen in this type of generation simply because he knew he didn't belong. He tried to fit in by pilfering a few clothes here and there, clothes that were desperately confusing to wear and didn't make him stand out like some of the people. He tried to pick clothes that were more like his generation although it seemed his time was not in style anymore. "You'd fuck like a whore." Alex pointed to a random walker, a girl that was voluptuous in all the right places but had an awkward face for him.

He wasn't used to how some of the people looked. They looked human, although they had different colored skin. Where he came from, the different colors of skin were brown, white, cream, tan, and other more natural clothes. Here, however, the people had green, purple. pink, yellow, basically any color you could think of. These colors ranged far and wide depending on what planet he managed to skip off to on a boarding dock but they usually surprised him nonetheless. Especially the ones that didn't resemble humans whatsoever but still managed to speak in a language he could understand. Or maybe that was the effect of the magic that Alex was becoming acutely aware of.

Flicking his wrists to the imaginary drums, Alex watched the people below him like a hawk watching for pray, even though he was, by no means, going to attack anyone. He was simply observing, watching down below him at all the people. He was starting to miss the generation he knew so well, miss the people that had actually gotten close to him when he allowed them, when he was letting people love him.

It was weird, knowing that the brown hair and brown eyes he once had were now acidic green and a flaming red. He missed his naturally curly hair and the frustration he had when he tried to keep it straight now that he had these obnoxious spikes. When he had gotten out of the cryotank Alex had to chop them all off. He couldn't remember his hair growing like it did, couldn't remember them being that long just that they were irritating enough to cause him to take random shrapnel to his own hair. Now it was done in tousled spikes that he tried to maintain with whatever he had at hand. Alex wanted to fit in, not become these people.

Nostalgia swept over Alex the more he thought about it, leaning his back against the palace and propping an elbow on a risen knee, his other foot swinging idly below him. The crowds carry on their days and lives like nothing was wrong.

K Palace
Three Days Before The Coronation

The palace looked simply stunning at this time of the day. As the artificial sun in the sky prepared to set, and a magically-induced wave of night readied itself for its performance, one might think that this was a picture for a post card. The large towers of the stone palace, the balconies of marble, the green, tiled roof. It had been built eight years ago for royalty. It was only natural that it did, indeed, have a royal appearance. The K Palace, as it was known, was currently in a period of transition. Hell, the entire empire was. Just a few weeks ago, a prince, the king's brother, had attempted to launch a coup. Both of the brothers had lost their lives in the destructive battle. That meant that the king's daughter, Elizabeth Tyris, was to take the throne at the young, tender age of sixteen. She knew nothing about ruling empires. She'd never in her life imagined this would happen -- her brother should have been here to take his rightful place as king.

Naturally, then, Elizabeth was the subject of attention, not just for her own empire, but for the entire dimension, it seemed. Everywhere she went, it felt like she was under a magnifying glass. She and her new bodyguards had just now met -- she had an entire team of guards now, replacing the two whom she'd had for the last eight years. Oh, how she'd miss Marrixe and Annicou. They would be reassigned, and she would have bodyguards trained for one very specific purpose -- protect the queen, at all costs. So far, she did not much care for them. She hoped they would grow on her.

She sat on her bed, softly breathing out as she felt the familiar cloth under her body, the pillows and blankets which she was so accustomed to. This was her bed. She could honestly call it hers even in this time of utter disarray. For a moment, here, she felt completely comfortable. She felt like she was back -- back in the islands, in her beach home on Earth, a young girl, surrounded by those she loved. Her father, her mother, and her brother. Before all this magic stuff. Before she found out she wasn't even entirely human. Before she found out about all this.

Her mother was one of her closest friends in a time like this, and Elizabeth was distraught. She only had her mother and her grandparents left, but her grandfather, K2323, was off trying to save some great aunt of hers, and her mom was a complete wreck as well, having just lost the love of her life. Her grandmother was the only voice of reason in Elizabeth's life right now. And her grandmother did provide comfort, but Elizabeth wasn't sure how much she understood -- after all. Her grandmother had grown up a sage, in a different dimension, exposed from birth to magic. Elizabeth had not.

Standing, she ran her hands across her white sundress, smoothing it out as she walked across her bedroom towards the large double-doors, from which sunlight was pouring gently into her room. Opening the double doors, she stepped out into the breeze, enjoying the cool air. Closing the balcony doors behind her, she glared out over the city. This was to be her city. She could hear the faint hum of hover cars below, see a few transport ships flying through the air. Everyone was getting ready for the coronation. Tomorrow, this place would be lit up like one giant party. She wasn't sure if she should be scared or excited.

But she most certainly didn't notice her guest.
