Why make a V-Day topic just to show off art? What do cats even have to do with V-Day? Seriously, don't you have enough art topics without having to make a holiday topic for the simple purpose of showing off?

it's valentine's day. I drew out a valentine. So what? Cats that form a heart, it was my personal valentine to the site/users.
What a downer.
Edit: Dylan's being an idiot about this. So let me explain to you here and now about how I celebrate this day, yeh?
Ever since I was small, we gave valentines for a group of people: Bus drivers, classmates, parents/family members, other friends from other places. So why should this be an different?
I made a valentine because I wanted to, and post it on a forum as a valentine's day "card" for other members and that auto-gives me a title to be an Attention whore? Excuse me, but growing up, I made a valentine, copied it and gave it to EVERYONE at school. And now I post it online ask a "gift" to everyone since I can't send anything like flowers or chocolate or real cards to online-friends, and that turns something I've done all my life into AMG GAIZ LOOK AT ME! I DREW SOMETHING! LOLOLOL.
No. Just, no. I'm just doing something I've done every year since I could draw/write. So no, I'm not calling out for attention. I was just doing a thing I do everyear.
Now dylan gave me a whole speech on how this isn't how one celebrates Valentine's day, and how it's really only for couples. Well, Orga's literally my first valentine. I never had dated anyone during 2-14 until now. Zak broke up with me before Valentine's day last year, and I never dated anyone before him. shit got real, I posted something personal, omfg!!!11onehundredeleven1.

Since I'm apparently being dragged into this...
You're posting on an RP forum, so I'm assuming everyone has a value for words. Words have to mean something, or what's the value of RPing? Taking a word, such as Valentines, and putting a new meaning to it, degrades the value of the word. Yes, this is the way you've always celebrated valentines. It's still not the correct way, and using the word in that sense degrades the meaning. A more American example that people can probably understand better is to say that it's "not in the spirit of the holiday". Like horror at Christmas, or stockings at halloween. Just because it's the way you've always celebrated it, doesn't mean that it's correct, and no matter how you phrase it, what you're inevitably saying is "I've done something wrong for a long time, so I'm gonna carry on doing it that way".
There was also a fun analogy with burning confectionary, but that can wait for another day.
Also, opening by insulting my character is still ad hominem, and as such a fallacious argument. That doesn't stop being a thing by doing it more. Just sayin'.

A lot of US schools/students do this type of exchange annually. There is no right way or wrong way to celebrate something.
I was raised doing this. I've never been part of a couple on this day until this year.
And I really don't care anymore about what you're arguing about "how to celebrate a holiday". It's stupid and you know it. The real argument was "me asking for attention" v. "Me actually celebrating the damn holiday in the way I celebrated it growing up"
-
"A lot of US schools/students do this type of exchange annually."
A lot of schools across multiple countries have exams that fall over the valentines period. No-one's claiming it's valentines tradition.
"There is no right way or wrong way to celebrate something."
On this basis, not celebrating the holiday is a valid way to celebrate the holiday. Which is a logical fallacy, and as such disproves the statement. I actually pointed this out to you before.
"I was raised doing this. I've never been part of a couple on this day until this year."
I already answered that one. This is a reminder about hypocrisy, since you often complain about me repeating myself.
"And I really don't care anymore about what you're arguing about"
I assume the fact that you didn't care is the reason you continued to argue with it. Looping back into logical fallacies.
"The real argument was "me asking for attention" v. "Me actually celebrating the damn holiday in the way I celebrated it growing up"."
Really? Because I was just responding to the complaints you had with what I said up above. I'm sure if that's what you were complaining about, it would have shown up when I was responding at some point along the line.
But, to address this issue, since you've brought it up, I was agreeing with Hikaru that this thread doesn't really seem to be about valentines, and is actually just another art thread. My basis being the above logic, that it doesn't match the "spirit of the holiday". In actual fact, the fact that you then decided to use it as a vent topic also demonstrates that it's not a valentines thread, since that also doesn't fall into the "spirit of the holiday". It also doesn't fall into your own definition of the holiday.

Well valentine's day was mostly fun.
My dad's valentine gift was easy to make. I used a fish bottleholder, a lot of kisses, my thinking stick, tape and sewing string. It should be obvious by now what I did. I bought this large hershey kiss and a few smaller ones and just made them into "fishing weights" and attached a string to them.
But yeah, fish full of chocolate with a chocolate anchor and a fishing pole hehehehe.

I do love how I've been repeatedly insulted, yet apparently I'm the one being a dick.
Also, it was a good job ignoring me until you referenced the fact. Then it stopped being ignoring me, and started being acknowledging me. Which is the exact opposite of ignoring. Unless you want to argue that, in some way, you can directly use someone's name without acknowledging them. I'd suggest basing that argument on dialetheism, personally.

Stop killing the mood of something. Seriously.
-
Hey, I wasn't the one that decided to use the thread for their own personal venting needs, or to insult people.
Also, what happened to "you can celebrate any way you want to"? I guess that only includes the ways you want to celebrate it, huh?

You've been telling me this entire time that I was "celebrating it wrong". So you shouldn't really be turning tables like this because I'm celebrating it the way grew up doing so. And it isn't an insult if someone lashes out saying "you;re not celebrating this right".

It's still technically just another art thread. Like seriously. Every new thing you make a new thread for. Learn to stick with one or two threads depending on content. ::)
-
Alright, alright, this is getting kiiinda heated. Probably should've said something a bit earlier, but...Bluh. Guys, both of you, if you cant discuss this with civility and without going after each other...Is it really worth arguing? :/

It's a valentine. Posting it on another Art thread kinda take out the fact that it's a "valentine". I don't do it for EVERY new thing. This was a valentine for Valentine's day. That's kinda it. Period.
