Flicker.
The ship was mostly dark. Failing. Old, ancient. But, something was slowly lighting up within it. A thin crackle, like static in the air. At first, it was nothing... And then, it was something. Where was the ship? Who knew? But it was dark, it was empty, and it was... waiting. And now, for some reason, something had happened. Some sort of cosmic crack in space and time.
And it was only a matter of time before someone stepped through.
