{Destroyed} Earth / Business As Usual

Abena sat alone in her room, toiling away at her workbench, on a crisp Sunday morning. The light shining through the lone winder in her massive bedroom was giving her a bit of a headache, so she pulled the blinds down and flickered her light on. Who was that girl...Emily? What did she want with my... She glanced over at her creation, the Espejo Riverso, which was propped up against her wall. I can't just give in...I have to protect myself. I won't go down without a fight. The magical mirror was sitting on a shelf, along with a few other magical items she'd created. There was the "Mirage of the Sahara," which created a hologram of the user which could be used to fool the enemy for as long as it went undisturbed, the "Ring of Typhoon," which could be used to control the wind and create tornadoes or typhoons that lasted for a short time, and the "Golden Scarab," which, when thrown, engulfed itself in flame and acted as a boomerang, scorching any objects in it's path.

However, on this particular Sunday, it was an especially unique and powerful artifact she was working on. She called it the "Midnight Raven." When finished, it would allow the user to travel inside the victim's head and torment them by taking their strongest fear and making it a reality. I don't want to make weapons... Abena thought to herself. But...how else am I to protect myself from... She thought of the girl that tried to kidnap her again. How else...am I to survive?

Void / Placement For A "New" Roleplayer?

(Hello everyone, while I wait for my character to be approved, I feel I should make a post here to see if I am up to the level of asking on the role playing site. Please excuse any faults in my writing, I haven't been at this for a while. I'll be using my current character and one of my old characters in this post. I hope that is okay.)

It was a breezy, typical autumn afternoon in southern France. School had just been let out, and all the children were merrily running about, playing football or cricket, or meeting up with their friends to go to the cinema. Every child was happy and carefree, that is, except for Abena. As soon as classes were dismissed, she rushed home to work on her inventions. She was a poor child in Africa, and found herself absolutely amazed by the vast amount of technology that was offered to her. Being the foster daughter of a famous footballer, she found it easy to acquire whatever type of instrument she desired.

This particular invention was one she had been working on for quite some time. She called it the "Espejo Riverso" Project. When completed, she hoped it would act as a magic type of shield, reversing the effect of any item, and deflecting anything aimed at it. It was a much more powerful artifact than she had created before, so it took much longer to create an enchant. Many hours she toiled away at it, working towards the perfect arrangement that, when enchanted, would give it the desired magical effect. She completed it, finally, on this lazy autumn afternoon in southern France, and was most proud of her achievement. So too, was another girl, an onlooker, a shadowy figure that was sure to make Abena regret ever creating the Espejo Riverso.

In the coming days, Abena took a break from her inventions, and took some time for herself to go out into the world and enjoy herself. She played football with her friends, went to the cinema with a boy she was quite fond of, and caught up with all her studies. That Friday, she arrived home, excited for the weekend and all the fun it would bring. She had already planned a sleepover at her friend Cheryl's house, and she was most excited for it. All she had to do was grab a few items from her room and go. The shadowy figure watching over her had other plans.

When she ran into her room, Abena was quite surprised to see a girl there, staring out the window with a trance-like look on her face. She took a more seconds to stare out the window, before looking to Abena and smiling. But it wasn't a happy smile, or a joyous smile. It was a mischievous smile, and with that one look Abena took a step back, before finally letting the words, "W-who are you?" escape her mouth. The girl turned her body to fully face Abena, and said calmly, "My name is Emily. You have something I want."

Abena began to breath faster. What could this person want from me? she though to herself. "Look, if you want money, fine, just please, take it and go!" Emily heard the nervous squeak in her voice, and realized Abena was not a threat, so she took another step towards her. "Money? Ha!" Emily laughed, almost mocking Abena. "I do not care for such trivial things. No, I want something much more...valuable. Something much more...powerful."  Abena's eyes grew wide and she realized what Emily was truly after. Abena glanced to her side, seeing the Espejo Riverso on the shelf. She took a small step towards it, hoping that maybe Emily wouldn't notice. In a flash, Abena reached for it and grabbed it, clutching her invention close to her chest. "What do you want with this?" Emily chuckled, and shook her head. "Silly girl..." she whispered.

Before Abena could react, Emily grabbed the collar of her overcoat, and pulled Abena to her side. With her other hand, Emily snapped her fingers, opening a portal to another realm. She threw Abena through it, before taking a step inside herself. Abena tried to stand up, but Emily kicked her back to the ground. "Give me the artifact. Now." Abena, panicking, crawled backwards away from her captor. Abena opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. After a few seconds, Emily reached into her robe and pulled out a few small, yellow plastic balls. "Fine. If you won't give it to me, I'll take it from you." Emily began to levitate in the air, looking over her captive with a shine in her eyes. Abena, horrified, watched Emily rise higher into the sky. She tried to run, but her body wouldn't let her, so she stayed there, laying on the ground like a lifeless heap.

Emily spun once and threw the yellow balls straight at Abena. As thew flew, they formed into streaks of lightning, headed straight for Abena. Out of desperation, the African put the Espejo Riverso right in front of her face. A the streaks touched it, it seemed as if the mirror was absorbing them, and within a second the lightning was gone. Abena remained in her cowering state as the lightning flew back out of the mirror and headed straight for Emily. Emily could only stare as the lightning hit square in the chest, and sent her flying back through the air. Noticing this, Abena pulled herself from the ground and ran for the portal. Emily, leaning up, saw Abena trying to escape. She tried to close the exit, but before she could Abena was through it and safely back in her own room. Abena breathed a sigh of relief, and collapsed on her bed, still clutching the Espejo Riverso tightly in her hands. The last thing she heard before she fell unconscious was the whisper of Emily's fading voice. Soon you'll see things me way.

(Thanks you very much for reading this, I appreciate any and all criticism you have for me.)

Hello everyone. As I new member I wish to submit a draft for a character I wish to embody on this role play.

Name: Abena Tchani (Pronounced "Te-sha-nee" or just "Sha-Nee")

Age: 16 years

Race: Human

Alliance: Whichever alliance the Humans lie with.

Biography: Born in the African nation Cameroon, Abena was fathered by a solider in Cameroon's national army and mothered by a nurse witch doctor that tended to soldiers that were wounded in battle. Her family was upper-middle class compared to the rest of the town she was born in, but they still found it hard to provide for her and her older brother, Agoume. Even at a young age, her and her brother, who was three years older than she, had to do hard tasks around their home in order to give their parents more time to work and provide for them.

When she was nearly seven years old, a great war had erupted on the western side of Africa, and times became harder for Abena and her family. Her parents had to increase their works hours to a point where they could barely see their children awake anymore. Soon enough, Cameroon was dragged into the war, and with both of her parents being actively involved in the military, they knew that they would have to leave their children behind to join in the war effort. Her parents worried about Abena and her older brother. They knew it would be too dangerous to keep her in Cameroon with the war going on, and they realised the only way to keep their children safe was to send them away to a different part of the world.

The night before Abena's and Agoume's departure, her mother came to her in her bedroom and gave her an old, magical amulet. She told Abena, "This is a magical amulet, passed down through our family for generations. It is yours now. Keep it with you always, it will protect you well." The following morning, Abena and her older brother were brought to a NATO drop zone, where they would be brought away from the war in order to keep them safe. During the boarding of the helicopters, there was chaos, each person trying to get their child to safety, away from the war. In all the haste, Abena and Agoume were separated and boarded two different helicopters. Abena, unsure of what was happening, tugged on a soldier's arm, asking "Where's my brother?" repeatedly. The soldier knelt down and told her not to worry, that all of the helicopters were headed towards the same place, Marseilles, in France. Abena smiled and waited until the helicopter would land so she could see her brother again.

As the evacuation vehicles flew away, Abena's parents waved, crying that they would probably never see their children again, but happy that they would be in a better place. Suddenly, a harsh noise was heard. Abena's parents watched, horrified, as a trail of smoke made it way towards a helicopter. The rocket propelled grenade made contact with the helicopter Agoume was aboard, and there was a flash of light before a huge explosion brought the helicopter to the ground in a flaming pile of debris. Abena never saw her brother again.

When the helicopter landed in Marseilles, Abena smiled widely and searched frantically for Agoume. She looked to the other helicopters, but he was nowhere to be found. After a quarter-hour of searching, she went up to the same soldier she had talked to before and asked the same question as before, "Where's my brother?" She had not seen her brother's helicopter crash to the ground, incinerating all inside it. She had no heard the screams of the people on board, including her dear brother. And even if she had seen these things, she was too young to understand.

That day, she learned that she would never see her brother again, and she still had to meet her new foster family. Her new father was Benoit Cheyrou, a famous footballer who played for Olympique de Marseille, a local football team, and the French National Football Team. Her new mother was his girlfriend, Evylyn Cheyrou, an English as a Second Language teacher at Lycee Montgrand, a local high school. Due to this, her new family was very well off, and she lived a very comfortable lifestyle. However, in the coming weeks she was still sad about her brother, and barely spoke a word to anyone. Eventually she settled in, attending her foster father's football matches whenever she could.

She grew up and is currently attending high school at Lycee Montgrand. During her time there she has taken a great interest in mechanics. In her spare time, she creates little objects and used her mother's amulet to enchant them, giving them certain magical abilities. She is fluent in two languages, French and English.

Magic Level: By herself, 0. Her amulet is magical, but she cannot use it directly (like shoot lightning out of it), only to enchant other objects.

Appearance: For an African girl, Abena has fairer skin than her parents do, but is still a very dark tan color. Abena has very dark brown eyes, almost black. She is a small girl, only about 1.6 meters tall, and a mass of 44.4 kilograms. She has a very small mouth and nose. Her hair is dark brown and wavy, and it grows itself a little below her shoulder. In it she has three bands, one red, one yellow, and one green, to remind her of her home country. She also wears a Cameroon wristband at all times, along with her mother's magical amulet. She is not fond of flashy clothing, and prefers a simple black overcoat with matching black boots and gloves. Under her coat she wears a navy blue sweater and a pair of denim blue jeans.

Weapons & Equipment: As it stands Abena does not possess any weapons or equipment. However, she has the ability to create slightly magical artifacts which she could use, if such an occasion arose. These artifacts take a good deal of time and focus to make and as such, cannot be made spontaneously.

Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated.
