Like I said, the lifespan doesn't bother me. Approved.
My bad. I didn't mean EVERYBODY in the exact sense, just the two that didn't like the idea -- Prince Kane and Ember Bright.

He's saying that they were responsible for those when they were around on Earth, hence the Illuminati part. Approved. Interestingly enough the concept is similar to that of Empty's.
On top of what you said, I did explain in a PM how flavour and heresay work for the sake of detail. It's like when people say "_____ is the best _____ in the role-play." They may THINK they're the best, they might be known as the best from the groups they've encountered, but that doesn't suddenly make their stuff inherently stronger than others. Just like Earth. I'm not trying to impose on its history. Because I've created something that, IC, people have went wacky and created stories about, doesn't affect the foundation of the canon. Plus, I made sure I wrote the the Earth-relevant stuff in a broad way, so that the specifics don't retcon anything previously established. In fact, that's one of the reasons I made the Origins so vast and versatile, so that I can say "this and blah blah blah" without imposing on anyone else's things. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have let anyone else but me request them, since they've clearly been deformed into a confusing ball of cluster-fuck. Sigh. Oh well. Guess I have more work to do!

May I ask why you're using an older version? Not trying to make that sound condescending, I honestly want to know. I used to use FF but not since I've gotten comfortable with Chrome.

You use IE8? Nahh, brotato chip. If not Firefox, try Google Chrome. An even better browser for the sake of similarity to Firefox is Comet Bird. Legit -- it works the same way as Firefox and even looks like it. Straight-up. But for the love of everything virtual, don't use IE8! Well, STOP using it, would be more accurate.

Oh. You're saying that "Sage magic" doesn't exist at all. That their magic is just magic, not Sage magic. I messed up by putting Sage in front of magic. Ya see what we can overcome when we work together as a team? Tell you what: I'll fix that part soon as I get back, and if you feel like giving it a second look-over sometime later, feel free to, then let me know if it works. I'd do it now but I'm seriously about to leave. Legit -- ride should be here soon.

I wasn't aware that an intellectual concept could be "wrong", but there's a first time for everything I suppose. I would ask for an explanation since I don't know how stuff works 'round here, but . . . (I don't know how to finish this sentence). #DontJudgeMe

Enlightened Government
Though the culture is mysterious and ever-changing, there is a consistent element of governance that seems to be a standard -- the Tri-Fecta. The Enlightened are led by Holy Father, and the Royal House of Light which consists of an emperor, a king, and a prince. They work alongside the Chamber of Representatives, an entity compromised of 77 elects that represent 1 city each. Then, the equivalent of a military official backed by a technocratic meritocratic party brings it on home to create the third and final piece of the triangle.

Enlightened Military
The Illuminati military has little to no recorded data about it. What is sure, however, is that there aren't any branches per-se.

(Not trying to pull fast one. This is here so that when the race is approved, I don't have to -- yeah.)

Empire Name
How many names have they been given since their formation? New World Order. United Nations. Bilderberg Group. The Elite. Illucorp. The (insert country here) Armed Forces. NATO. Well, they certainly don't formally go by "The Enlightened Empire" -- that's an acceptable informal name to use for outsiders, or to illustrate who they are without having to be proper. What's their formal name, you ask? True Neutral. Socially, it's best to refer to them as the New Galactic Order, or the Guardians of Balance. But if you were to ask one of them what they call their faction, they'll reply, "True Neutral".

Primary Race
Enlightened Ones; has been known to have 'Visionaries' -- non-racial helpers. Affiliation, once achieved, should not be expected to be a concrete bond. As necessity and balance come first, then loyalties. That said, this faction is as loyal as any, really.

Empire Description
They've existed for as long as anything. Their history beyond the Ancient Origins is a mystery. Some lore even suggests they lived alongside them. Their culture is one for the record books -- it always changes. One day it could be textbook Russian Communism with the whole "Russian Reversals" to boot, the next day it can be some sort of monarchy singing shit like "Rule Britannia". Despite this, True Neutral has always been ruled by a Father, his appointed Overseer, and the Combined Council of Life, Existence and Balance. At times, His Favourite -- special advisers hand-picked by Father -- will help with running things. Religion seems to have significance, but not enough to encroach on day-to-day life or operations. It takes the "Unitarian Universalist" approach (Wikipedia that shite if you need clarity, or ask). Most, enough to say all, are spiritual and not religious, believing it to be a waste of time and energy.

A group that has taken a serious interest in what is happening around them. Why? To take their place as what they believe to be the Guardians of Balance. They aren't good or bad; those are merely words that cause a disproportionate schism and upset balance. They may be loyal, they may be trustworthy, but they are NOT the good guys. If you seek freedom fighters, or seekers of justice, you'll not find what you are looking for. If you seek a villainous ally for your twisted schemes, they are not the ones you've been searching for. Want an example? Fine. Usually, you'd think some kind of higher being is automatically supposed to be good or bad -- whatever those mean. For the Enlightened Ones, they aren't supposed to side with one alignment; rather, they are to ensure that both exist.

Additional Information
Yup. Still making fun of conspiracy theories, and ditching the whole "good vs bad" thing. Yawn. I'm being a cheeky fucker by making their primary language Latin. All this 2012 hype got me thinkin', "Why don't I make something based on that?"

Accepted Races / Enlightened Ones; Why Not?
« on: October 16, 2012, 12:34:04 AM »
Race Name
They have been given many names over the course of the aeons they've been around. They were called Builders, Gods, Light Beings, Ancients, and Enlightened. Call them what you will, but they are truly the Illuminati. Both singular and plural. These far-flung Origin descendants have just recently decided to a legitimate interest in their surroundings . . . but why?

Physical Appearance
An Enlightened's appearance can be anything he or she wishes. There isn't a definite "must" to the appearance. Their most popular has been described as a robe-wearing figure with four arms, and either one or two eye(s) on an otherwise shadowy, non-existent face. They have sensory appendages on their heads which relates to their psionic abilities -- these vary in size, shape, length and texture -- and tails, which also have a great range of diversity. Most seem to have white tails with red tips -- three of these, but numbers may exceed nine. Wings are another attribute, which seem to depend on class, job, rank and skill, like the colours of their robes.

Abilities, Traits
Plasmagiks: A devastating, yet harmful ability known as 'Blood Magik'. It's creators, given the nickname 'Crimson Sages', created this deadly art in secret. The Brothers of Blood were/was a cult that met underground in Groznijy Grad. Membership started out being restricted to military scientists only, but eventually expanded to common-folks. This particular kind of magic was created to be a unique kind -- not even a 'proper' magic -- to compliment the impressive psionic power of the species. By doing that, they've created a weapon along with psionics that, while dangerous and brutal, will ensure their continuity.

Choson Wizard Evolutionary Battle Forms: Created during the Age of Cunning and Guile (1217-1918), in response to the full-scale-war effort against the Arcani, another Origin species, when it was learned that a war with a technological monopoly could not be fought using stealth alone. Using Plamagiks, and the Origin-given ability to mess with genetic material, the Choson Battle Armour Project was brought into its Alpha Phase in 1396 A.W. The Choson Battle System is a hybrid amalgam of Plasmagiks and manipulation of the versatile DNA of all Origin races. When an Illuminati is about to battle, they activate the system to adapt to the situation, and meet their combat needs to ensure they live to see the next day. Currently, there are four levels: Normal, Mega, Champion and Ultimate. There is a fifth level, Hyper, but that's reserved for the Father, His Favourite, the Elite, the Royal Guard, and others as appointed by Him or the Combined Council.

Origin Genetic Adaptation: Like all Origins, Illuminati may manipulate their genetic composition for whatever reason. Acts such as these are executed by the Science Sect after they are approved by the Combined Council of the Enlightened Realm.

Typical Lifespan
The longest recorded lifespan has been a little more than 1,000,000,000 years, but the average is 2/3rds of that.

Public or Private?
Private!

Other information
Temporary request. Figured I'd try participating in the event since it's clearly been packed with hard work and thought. Don't want it to go to waste. Oh yeah! Yes, I'm making fun of conspiracy theories. Let's be honest -- they keep things interesting.

Suggestion Box / Re: Personality Paragraph
« on: April 27, 2012, 04:04:53 PM »
I feel the same way about personality and the biography.

The entire board doesn't need to know the "bible" of every character made. That's boring, and it puts it bit too much pressure to "concrete" the character in question. How I always do it is, I write about how they came to power if they're a leader, what military campaigns they took part in if they're a general or commander -- things like that. I base the biography you all read on something integral to their identity.

Personality, I'm even more-so against. Mainly for reasons previously stated. Role-playing is supposed to be immerse people into its story. You're s'posed to created a reality within fiction; characters are s'posed to feel real. Characters are supposed to act like living, breathing people we spend our day-to-day lives with. People in reality grow and change over time. I can honestly say that I grew as a person since January 1st, 2012 until now -- I've learned things I never thought I'd be on some of about myself. And guess what? I'm STILL growing and changing.

I don't feel like the "breath of creation/life" has been put into a character that is restricted to a cardboard cut-out of how they're supposed to think, feel and interact with the multi-verse. Like Logan said, the best part of character development is . . . well, development. I'd hate to think that members weren't letting their character thrive or reach their developmental potential simply because of a demanding personality section. We aren't supposed to automatically know everything about an IC element; our character interact with it, and they let us know about whatever it is you're curious of. I hate knowing every single thing about something IC, especially when my characters/races didn't find that out, but I did.

To know important shit like loyalty, abilities, race -- yeah. There's no question there. But interpersonal things like their life story or how they interact with their surroundings? That knowledge should come from our characters. This way, our characters can thrive and develop as we, their creators, would want them to.

Yeah I get the request, that's why I approved it.

I just said it's depressing because it reminds me of something he'd partner you in.

We had the Sage Wars which were magic vs tech.  ;D
Magic against technology huh? Sounds a lot like my Sovereign versus Apparati plot. 'Cept it was an intergalactic war, rather than three versus the world.

Approved, I suppose, just remember that if said machines already exist you'll need approval from the race/empire/whatever's owner unless you assimilate them Icky(basically none of anyone else's stuff for free without permission). I know you probably already know that, buuut I'm a paranoid git and like to say things for the record.
Safe to assume I get that already, mate -- that would be cheating, and would suck the fun right out of things. Meanwhile, that "git" line was pretty funny.

Yeah. I know. I'll just give 'em psi capabilities and the clairvoyance. I know how it works and how it is explained, I just tried lumping into one category -- I was lazy. Haha. We all have them times, mate.

I really wish there were a way to go about this. It isn't like I'd abuse it or anything -- I mean, if I did, shit wouldn't be fun. The race wouldn't be "real", just weapons with which I use to fuck everyone's day up, which isn't what role-playing is about.

Tell you what -- I'm putting faith in you, mate. I know you don't know me well (or at all), but in your honest opinion, what's the best rate you think I'd be able to handle responsibly?

"Great idea, Declan. Yeah man. Mummur, murmmur." More like muttering, but I digress.

Accepted Races / Re: OCS | EG1, PG1: Arcani
« on: April 27, 2012, 01:07:54 AM »
No problem. Lemme put it into ya world right quick.

The Xchange is just some bullshit -- it's a social and global project I took from my real life, and put it into my role-play. The best way I could describe it is a "codex" of sorts. Maybe calling it "the Xchange" was a bad idea; now that I think about it, it's more of a massive storage thing full of knowledge and what-have-you than anything else.

Well, not gonna lie, while I don't wanna make them too powerful ('cause the RP would become boring if they were), you have to take into account their roots; the species the evolved from, the Origins (already approved). They are based off of the cell; smallest living unit/organism in known existence. So they have a knack for biological talents and habits. You mentioned "Sages" -- which I'm guessing are magic?

The same way your Sages would be better at magic, and the other races good at . . . whatever it is they do, a primarily biological race would be adept at things like adaptation and evolution. To be fair, and allow some plot-work, I didn't expose the Arcani to any magic in their lore, so they won't have an auto-immunity to it the second they start interacting with the board. I don't think I can give an actual percentage. I want to adhere to the boundaries of the personal role-playing project they come from, but at the same time, I don't want them too powerful. If they're able to go around insta-dapting to everything, there'd be no fun, my characters would develop OR feel real. I'll go to the next area and maybe come back to this later.

When it comes to straight-up evolution now, they don't really change much. Now, the Sovereign Viscant, who are all about biology are some evolutionary mother-fuckers. Here, evolution is more of an advanced form of adaptation. Say, for example, they visited that "Coldlands" planet of yours. Most organics would freeze instantly, well, their bodies would pull a Gundam 00 -- that is, create a rate of perfection thermal energy production and consumption, to where they never run out. Much like Gundam Particles. Or, they could simply "dense up" the thermal energy they already DO contain, thus not having to worry about hypothermia in the first place.

Regarding the ol' Voyance. I was going to give them psionics, in addition to psychokinesis. Sigh. Lemme try to make this short. Notice how I said they fall into the Origin "Mentat" category? That means their species has a racial doctrine of brains > brawn. Their steroids are knowledge, their muscles are the brain. You see where I'm going with this? I think I catch the concept of clairvoyance well enough to say this: You're implying that because they lack psionics, clairvoyance is impossible. I know such isn't a crazy mental power, you're totally right. Which is why I think they'd have to be capable of psi to be clairvoyant.

Accepted Characters / Re: OCS | EG1, PG-1: Apparati
« on: April 27, 2012, 12:51:51 AM »
With this race, I really wanted them to go for tech and biology, yeah? Everyone's either far left (all mechanical), or organic that leans on technology. With this one, I wanted to mash everything that could possibly manipulate technology -- both organics and mechanics can do that. Thus, you have the Apparati and SMART (the empire).

Digest: Think of them as a lump sum of every show/series/book/whatever-else that had machines in it. I'm not ripping, but that's the basic scope. Like the Origins, they start from the smallest building block -- nanobots -- and assemble into things that can, how you say, "own shit".

You probably don't need to read this, or care. But I thought some insight would be nice. But yeah, if Gaser is a tech guy (how you described him) then I'm someone he'd want to get in on shit with. For sure.

That show any good?
If you really like to think about a show and try to ponder deep meanings, like giant robots and humankind spitting in the face of God, then yes, you will love that show.

Yeah. OR if you like to philosophise (?) about the meaning of -- wait a second. I would've spoiled the entire plot there, or at least a significant attribute of it.

How to say this without spoiling. Okay, it's also a good watch if you like to . . . erm, indulge in the trope that "humans are special", and that some individuals may hold keys that others don't. There, now he'll have to watch it to see what I'm talking about. No spoilers here!

I reckon Logan made a tonne of good points. One big one that resonated with me is the importance of an integrated community. Sure, staff are important, but without the members, who will you oversee? More importantly, what fun would it be with just 5 staffsmen writing on the site? Things would get stale rather quickly, I reckon.

This is an important step for the future of the site. Unless this "reform" thing is fair dinkum, things'll just stay the same, and maybe, just maybe, the site would actually die.

SMART "National" Flag

Empire Name: Self Manufacturing And Reassembling Technologies
Primary Race: *Anything with a mechanical element. Even biomechanical races can be found in SMART.

Empire Description: The mechanical equivalent of the Sovereign -- a giant clusterfuck of different machine species from all over the universe/multi-verse/whatever/verse. It began as the Apparatus Cultus (Machine Cult in Origin), a small sect of technological extremists who broke off from the First Pilgrimage shortly before Arc-En Ciel was populated. The Cult was known for meddling with biotechnology, and carried out cruel experiments in the name of research. When these practices were discovered, they were immediately sent elsewhere.

Because of their biological roots (Origin; Arcani), and their obsession with machines and technologies, they are a serious problem. When they were exiled, they opted  nomadic habits, rather than settling down in one place -- this way, their chances of learning about and finding more technologies were increased. They created a "republic" of sorts, with member-worlds that were technologically extreme also -- that union was called, The Great Technological Pragmatist Republic. It was banded by P. Saigon and Turn 'A'. It ran into some troubles two decades later when the member-worlds fell to an unidentified invader. The TPR was spread, with the union barely surviving by a thread, and what little actual interest it had still invested in itself. P. Saigon then fled to this . . . whatever-it's-called -- taking all of his research and tech with him -- and alerting Turn 'A' of his absence. The duo would later arrive to the . . . uh . . . Shattered Planes(?) and again, rebuild what was destroyed. What began as a small arms-dealing company within a galactic monopoly -- ArmsTech -- would again begin the sick research of its spiritual predecessor (Apparatus Cultus), and re-establish what it saw as what the position of machines should be in every corner of every universe.

Self-Manufacturing Systems was formed first. It spread its influence to several new member-worlds. P. Saigon then changed the name from that to what it is today after a breakthrough in his research, true self-assembly and reassembly. The formal name would then become, Self Manufacturing and Reassembling Technological Systems, but is better known as Self Manufacturing and Reassembling Technologies. Either way, that's how it got to where it is today. Extremism, loyalty, and inherit desires to always get better and acquire more knowledge (thanks to their Origin . . . origins?) makes SMART(s) a force to be reckoned with.

Additional Information:1"Sui Manufacturing et Reassembling Vitae", in the Origin indigenous tongue literally translates into "Self Manufacturing and Reassembling Technologies".
2There's actually a primary race to go with this (that I'll post in a bit). However, because this is a smooshball of a broad ranger of machines, this "empire" wouldn't be that exclusive, and I am therefore, technically not breaking the rules -- since, again, it's not just the primary race of machines that make up this group. Before I start using them I'll get the race up anyway so that there's no speculation or suspicion.
