Five large floating cities now dotted the landscape, er, voidscape? around the tree. Although, 'city' isn't really the best term for them. They were more like large chunks of land placed on top of flotation devices. Each one contained a different ecosystem(desert, tropic, swamp, rainforest etc.) And in these ecosystems were several villages, inhabited by a multitude of different species, although the majority was Smith. Each of these 'hover lands' circled around an enormous tree, the base of which had it's own the villages surrounding it. The bit of land that it resided in had been extended by more of the hoverlands to support the many villages under it. It was in this town that the leaders of this...cult, resided. Currently the six of them sat relaxing in a room open to the environment, smoking what could be considered tobacco. They consisted of a three Smiths, two Mercers, and a Mechara. Each one of them was wearing an odd blend of vegetation and animal skin for clothing. Bits of the Mechara seemed to be made of wood. Finally, one of them spoken up. "The Dust-skins are getting rambunctious again." One of the Mercer said. "The Dust-skins are always getting rambunctious."the another one of them, a Smith, countered.
"Yes, but this time they've gone too far" the same Mercer said, " They almost burned down those Leaf-foots village"
"Send the Enforcers, then!" the Smith said agitated.
"Violence begets violence, brother." The Mechara said.
"What would you have us do then?"
"I would have us actually listen to them rather than tossing their requests into the trash."
"They want to eat from The Tree!"
"Then why not let them?"
"Yu no dam well woi!"
Brothers, please control yourselves. There is no need to threaten or otherwise bring harm to the Dust-skins, I propose we simply tell them that we are working on making the fruit able to be eaten b-"
"But we haven't found a way t-"
"We tell them that we can, and that it will be available soon. In the meantime focus on a more peaceful solution to either getting rid of them or convincing them that their ideals are foolish. All in agreement say Aye"
Four "Ayes" could be heard. "Everybody in disagreement say Nay"
Two "Nays" were heard.
"Then it is in agreement, Council adjourned." One by one the Council members left the chamber, till only the Smith that spoken out was left sitting there. From where the Council.chamber was situated he could see almost all the hoverlands, including the desert where the Dustskins made their home. As he sat looking at them he could see a large plume of smoke rising and hear the faintest chanting...
