Seriously people, does it have to be posted forum-wide in big bold red letters for you all to see? Rips are like the last thing we want. The OK? That was original, we were inspired by DBZ, but we didn't rip it. Then BK put rips in GE. (Star Wars, Stargate, Zelda, etc.) Now in SP, we've just recently this past year been able to get rid of them. Again, seriously. What do you even get out of ripping things off? There's no originality, it doesn't better you as an author or roleplayer, it's not your work. Because the game/show/anime/book was fun? Then write a fanfiction and mary-sue yourself in it, don't bring it to the RP and make the board as well as the ones that have original work, look bad. For a while, SP could almost say "WE'RE TOTALLY ORIGINAL!"
But now? Rips have been revealed none of staff even knew about.
There are differences between Derivations and Rips. And it's up to you to know the differences and hold back on ripping things off. Because you can't expect staff to know every book/game/movie/anime/etc is out there. Hell, Lyoko's things I've never even heard of, till I looked it all up. Now? The boy doesn't have an original damn idea in his head. We can't catch everything.
But again, where is the satisfaction in ripping things off and not getting caught? You're just proving how bad of an imagination you have, and how much of a thief you can be. I'd say leave it up to your own conscience, but if you see another member have a rip, try to tell us? Since again, we don't know every form of media out there.
If it copies a character or concept and idea exact, It is a rip.
If it copies a common name that everyone uses. It is not a rip.
If it copies an uncommon name that you've only seen one place, and that place has no copyright. It doesn't matter, it's still well known and, Is a rip.
If it copies an exact plot and conclusion, It is a rip,
If it's inspiration from a plot or story, and you've changed a few aspects and have your own original conclusion, It is not a rip.
If it's a plot or idea that's been done to hell and back, it's not a rip, but hey, it's cliche, overused, and you're left up to your own choice whether to do that or not.
If it copies powers exact (Like Jutsu, Super Saiyan, Heart of the Cards, Force, seriously... I shouldn't need to list these,) known to only that franchise, Guess what? It's a rip.
If it stems off popular mythology (That's based IRL NOT AN AUTHORS (Lovecraft*cough*) or other things we know of IRL, It is not a rip.
If it derives, thus, again, inspiration off something, but doesn't copy it in exactness, names, etc. It's not a rip.
Others work is others work, sure it may be entertaining. But if you rip it for something original (This rp,) and don't get caught? You're just showing how big of a damn loser you really are.
