A daughter's love.
« on: April 08, 2010, 09:23:54 PM »
"Owwww..." Faote moaned, his head was throbbing with pain.
"Sorry! I'll change out the towel..." A familiar voice filled the room, as what felt like a warm breeze circulated around it. Within moments, a weight was taken off of Faote's head and replaced with a cooler one.
Faote slowly opened his eyes to find a long haired person, with wings spread out as if to shelter him. One look at her face led her to smile. He couldn't really tell who this person was, nor could he really, mostly because his whole body was starting to sting. He was regaining his senses.
"Sorry... I had to remove my soul from your body too. I didn't know it'd hurt you this much Daddy..."
Her words was music to Faote's ears. For what felt like a moment, he swore that he was at ease. "Ka... Katherine..." Faote barely uttered, as he reached up and brushed her face with his hand.
She smiled with tear soaked eyes, and then brought her father into an embrace. The sudden hug sent a shock of pain throughout his body, but Faote tried to ignore it. He didn't care about that.

Within minutes, Faote stopped suffering, and sat up facing his daughter.
"I'm sorry for worrying you, but... if you performed the transport with portals, that man could have followed you with the power the lance was emitting. I had to extract your soul and separate you from the lance, since it's power was derived off of the wielder's morals..." Katherine explained, stopping afterward, unsure of what else to explain.
"I... I thought you were going to die with my body so I could return to it after... you died..." The confusion at the time certainly worried the hell out of the alchemist.
"It confused that Ryt person enough to buy us time to escape, didn't it? All's well that ends well, right?" Katherine reassured her father, bringing a smile to both of their faces.
"... So where is the lance? We have to return it to heaven or God will really smite us..." Faote questioned, almost worried about their position on God's 'to smite' list.
"I already returned it. I had to use your last angel heart to un-manifest it though... sorry..." Katherine apologized, as she tilted her head as if to direct Faote's attention to a bunch of symbols carved on a wall nearby to them. She certainly did return it.
"Don't worry about it." Faote reassured his daughter, which brought them to laugh. "... Why wait so long though? Why didn't you talk to me sooner?" Faote asked, as Katherine's happy expression turned to a more serious one.
"... When I was slain by Zere in that last fight, you augmenting my soul and spirit into your body was a last minute thing. Our spirits weren't in sync then, and I couldn't talk to you then. The most I could do then was just warm your soul... It was so cold then... Our spirits weren't in sync until you died, where you so desperately held onto mine when you were a spirit too. The mere fact that your spirit was close to mine synchronized us enough to the point where when Vincent revived you, I could then converse with you only at certain times...-" Katherine tried to explain to the best of her ability.
That was, until Faote leaned over and hugged her again. "We... we have so much to talk about. I've missed you so much." tears strewned down his face again, as the family began to endlessly converse about everything they've missed out on.

The universe could be in danger, and at the moment, the two wouldn't care at all.
