The magic is utilizing natural resources and manipulating them in a way that uses the energy of your body WITHOUT you having to move to do it much.

To answer your question, a spell is a way through words that a user makes magic obey him.

Excuse my interruption, but seeing as we are both Battle teachers.. And I'm bored right now.

No Hawkeye, that would be an incantation, a spell is a method or technique in which someone uses magic to create a certain effect. As in a Sage conjuring white water or black fire, incantations are one way to complete a spell, but there are thousands of different ways, from a vast and complicated ritual, to a mere wave of the hand. Do you understand now?
The world is a mess..and I just need to..rule it.

Give an example of a spell besides that which Koty has mentioned.

Well 1 such example would be a mage using a spell to create a vortex of cleansing flame. Over kill on stains and such, but still quite useful in battle.

Alright, let's start at the beginning. I want you to tell me the difference between Black Magic and White Magic.

Black Magic is unholy spells.  White Magic is Holy Spells. Not much difference.

Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

And what gives you that idea?
