-Additional information-
Anatomy:
-Blood- A helix's blood is the same color and composed of the same radioactive material as their markings. When injured, they attempt to avoid touching the wound, in fear they may infect themselves.
-Glowy Marks-These markings are found all over the body. If a person touches them, they're automatically infected. These markings give a hint of what the Helix infects. Helixes can be infected if they aren't careful about these markings. But because the markings are all over the Helix, it's almost impossible to attack it at close range without being infected.
-Spires-These wicked things look like a strand of RNA{half of DNA} and are also full of this virus. They may be the best thing to use when you kill a helix, but they are hard to break off. These things are insanely stiff, and will break if lots of pressure is used. Even with magic, trying to break these "spikes" are hard enough. This part of the body is what helixes will use to fight and infect most of the time.
-Hide-The hide of a helix is leathery in strength and texture. The rough skin they have makes slicing them open a little harder. The texture is smooth(despite me saying rough skin, they're just durable) and would be nice to feel if they weren't glowing everywhere.
-The Virus-A helix has a different virus, but in some cases, you have more than one with the same virus. It is a very unlikely chance that two helixes with the same virus will ever meet.
Reproduction: Though they are covered in the virus entirely, the only way they can mate without infecting each other is if one lays on their back and the other is on top. The "crotch" is the only area not covered with the virus, but it's also not the best place to attack. The offspring contains a mix of the viruses(which is rare to have two effects), or if the virus mixes to create another virus(which is more common like nerve+blood=sight loss). In rare cases, the offspring will have the same affects from both parents. In most, their virus will attack something else.
Magic Use: Helixes aren't well known for their magic, but the best magic they have is regeneration. They heal slowly, but they remain careful with their injuries. Another way they use magic is when they bleed. If an injury is made to have them bleed, they try to manipulate that blood. This manipulation only works for their own blood, nothing else's. The blood would chase after prey for long distance attacks.
"Disease" and other Issues: Helixes suffer disease like any being..
-Spire molding-A mold grows around the spires, making them brittle. The spire's virus is killed off in areas that turn flaky.
-Body rot- If they are drenched in water in a very warm environment, the flesh rots out.
-Cataracts-The eyes(located on tongue) grow cataracts to blind a helix.
-Parasitic twin-The may have two viruses, but the parasitic sibling causes loss in strength and gets in the way. Viruses may merge and there is a 50-50 chance of surviving this mixture.
-Brain rot-A kind of bacteria that eats flesh enters a Helix's brain and turns them either insane or zombifies them.
-Deformations-Not all helixes are born perfect. Some will have spires that twist around in an odd fashion. These deformities handicap the Helix, but may prove useful if they can outwit the enemy and know how to use these issues to an advantage.
Injury:
-Limb Loss-They'll get pissed off. A Helix with the virus to give limbs may be able to regrow them. (Arachnid)
-Scratches and bite marks-Not he smartest thing in the world to do to a helix, but they will either have minimal bleeding or just a "dent" in the skin.(Like a faint scratch on a leather strip)
-Head loss-They can still attack, but it'll be harder without eyes or a brain. The head itself is still functional. If this happens, you have to infect the head and the body with a virus. The nervous system backs up the loss of a brain.
How to kill them(NOT KNOWN IC): The best way you can kill a Helix is to infect it with a virus from its own breed(even its own virus). The trick is to not infect yourself in the process. Telekenesis would work, but using that all the time's no fun at all. Cut off a limb or a spire, and stab it. If the virus hits any internal organ of a Helix, it'll die shortly. You can't kill it by stabbing or punching it continuously. That just pisses them off. They can take any attack, even a bomb explosion and live.
You can make them explode from the inside out with magic. They also can have a nuclear meltdown. Piss them off enough to a point where they can't take it and they explode. But the radioactivity spreads around so it's best to keep clear if they explode.
