Five captial ships appeared out of warp space in orbit of the planet. They probed the planet and found many individuals there but found they could do very little government and thus proceeded to go send pods down and set up defensible positions while negotiating with the locals and trying to set up an assimilation of their government.

After a long talk with the leaders of the remaining shadowwalkers, the Zarethians were able to convince them that joining the Zarethian Empire and serving as aa protectorate. After all, they were recently beset by war on multiple planets and the Zarethians were the only ones who were even remotely reasonable. As the electronic ink dried, the Zarethians began to help the shadowwalkers rebuild their world and take the steps towards being a part of the galactic community.
