OOC: Assassin and Ace duel
« on: April 19, 2010, 08:59:42 PM »
No, you got yourself into the fight, finish it like a man. I'll fucking ban your ass if you run.
OOC:Aren't you all trying to keep telling hawk to keep his characters alive? This is a Fight-Or-Flight situation; personally, I think the more realistic approach is flight, since the opponent is obviously very powerful, and so thus it was what Hawk was doing...

((The characters themselves are actually on par with each other. The problem isn't the characters. Yes, we would like to have Hawk keep his characters alive, but playing them as cowards is just as bad as getting them all killed.))
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

Not really, Nisorin, considering it helps develope the character. Also, you always say that it isn't the magic level that determins the fight, but how its used. Quite frankly, he could've seen it as being out-matched tactically.
Besides, Nisorin, haven't ypu ever heard that cowards live longer? Rather be a coward than a corpse, no matter the circumstances.
Plus, as Hawk said, he had a reason. Doesn't matter what it is, so long as its there.

Yes and that reason has to do with something that K2 told me he would do and acted on IC earlier today. If you wish I shall leave my post there an attack. If not, I shall change it to a flee. And No Orph you can't ban me for doing that contrary to your belief.

It would make sense if he was summoned away, or if it was an emergency. (Said emergency posted before having him flee.) But just having him feel in battle without even knowing Assasin was fighting to the death, is metagaming.

Acting on OOC knowledge of K2 saying it is metagaming. Or any other thing you have planned OOC.

Hawk....honestly. I expect you in my Don'ts Class asap, so we won't have things like this.

For example if, he was fighting, and his best friend was on the brink of death and sent a telepathic message for help, that would be a reason to flee. (Don't do that just because I gave it as an example.) Give good reason. Or have them see a slipup that says they're going to die, then be coward.

Not OOC reason. Having knowing about a take-over OOC and giving that info to the character. THAT is metagaming. Having the character flee because OOC they said it was going to be kill and not learn. Metagaming.  Having character flee because you don't want to use him at the moment, metagaming. Leave the topic frozen if you get bored and go back to it later. Leaving the topic without an IC reason revealed, is and will always be METAGAMING.

Read this :

our post.
RisingCrush4272 (5:57:17 PM):   Assassin vs Ace.
blackhawkfury221 (5:59:10 PM):   Did.
blackhawkfury221 (5:59:14 PM):   And you can't void that.
RisingCrush4272 (6:00:11 PM):   DON'T RUN FROM ME.
blackhawkfury221 (6:00:16 PM):   Wasn't running.
blackhawkfury221 (6:00:24 PM):   Was offering you a chance to gain power of Essence
blackhawkfury221 (6:00:37 PM):   Which apparently you don't want
RisingCrush4272 (6:00:44 PM):   I want to kill Ace.
blackhawkfury221 (6:00:48 PM):   Why??
RisingCrush4272 (6:00:56 PM):   Because it's my match.
blackhawkfury221 (6:00:59 PM):   Oh.
blackhawkfury221 (6:01:05 PM):   Well consider Ace gone for about 3 months
RisingCrush4272 (6:01:09 PM):   no.
RisingCrush4272 (6:01:14 PM):   I want this fight to end first.
RisingCrush4272 (6:01:19 PM):   With the death of Ace.
blackhawkfury221 (6:01:28 PM):   But if he dies, then I can't use him as a base
blackhawkfury221 (6:01:37 PM):   As a base for the new character that I was working on.
RisingCrush4272 (6:01:42 PM):   Then kill Assassin.
RisingCrush4272 (6:01:45 PM):   Simple as that.
RisingCrush4272 (6:01:50 PM):   Just don't run.
blackhawkfury221 (6:01:51 PM):   Hmm.
blackhawkfury221 (6:01:58 PM):   Just going to let you kill Ace, then have Aria revive him.
blackhawkfury221 (6:05:05 PM):   But why would you  kill Ace before learning?
blackhawkfury221 (6:05:09 PM):   That is your problem
blackhawkfury221 (6:05:20 PM):   You would deny yourself the chance to learn about Essence first
RisingCrush4272 (6:05:20 PM):   I plan to steal his souls.
blackhawkfury221 (6:05:26 PM):   FYI
blackhawkfury221 (6:05:30 PM):   He put his soul away
blackhawkfury221 (6:05:38 PM):   Hid it somewhere no Anrufe member can get
blackhawkfury221 (6:11:08 PM):   There.
blackhawkfury221 (6:11:14 PM):   Try dodging all
blackhawkfury221 (6:11:16 PM):   of that
RisingCrush4272 signed off at 6:22:09 PM

And he acted upon it IC thus giving me a reason IC to flee.

Wrong, I read the topic. He never once said he was going to steal Ace's Soul. Thus how would Ace know he needs to hide his soul? METAGAMING.
He said his destruction was insured, but by that time you had Ace gone, and acted upon metagaming. So it wouldn't have counted.
Unless K2 specifically stated IC that he was after Ace's Soul, or Ace's death. It's metagaming.

Think.

Ace knows enough about Anrufe to know they will try to take soul or kill. Logically he holds his soul safe.

Really? How? Ace hasn't been on the board long enough to know.
Even I don't have my characters flat out say they know. I had them say they heard a rumor of people losing their magic and souls.
But they don't know who or how.

Aria taught him about the Anrufe having been told about them by Order so logically it would be wise to assume that Ace already knew or at least had a pretty good reason for stashing his soul.

It's still metagaming. You had Ace trusting him beginning of duel. And all of a sudden he changes his mind? Metagaming.

1. Assassin's attacks were getting brutal.
2. "You've ensured your destruction.." ring a bell?
3.  As a result of Assassin saying those words Ace stopped trusting him.

He didn't say that till after you had said you were going to flee.

Hiro, so then every single character Hawkeye makes is a coward? I don't know   about you, but I find that hard to believe. While some people would   rather life than death, others know that there are things worth dying   for. Not only that, but there is the metagaming point that Hikaru brought up.

To be honest, the entire thing is a large pile of bull.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. ALSO, if you want to use the attacks getting more brutal as a reason to have fleed. THEN STATE THAT. Show IC thoughts, the character thinking it's not right, knowing that something is getting wrong. Just next post fleeing, without giving reason is metagaming.
Learn to RP and give your characters inner world, dammit.

Think of this, if not that, then:Fight-Or-Flight.
Its obvious K2's Assassin planned on the black-text-thingy to be a killing blow. This, we know, is true. Ace, while magically inept(I think...Wasn't that his reason to use Essence?), realizes the power is off the scale for a friendly spar. He sees no chance at protecting himself from death by fending off his attacker, being surrounded, so he cuts his losses and runs like the devil was on his tail through a alternate means of escape, randomly headed for Terrorguove.
Fair enough?

Meh, didn't know it was normal, for his characters to flee, Nisorin. Still, this hardly seems worth dyin' for...

If he saw it as dangerous, then he should have said that. Inner thoughts, putting that the character detected something off about Assassin's attack, SOMETHING that shows us why. Otherwise he keeps the reader wondering, and the opponent as well, by just fleeing without reason. If he has reason, reason should be subconsiously given. Therefore, as it is, it's still metagaming. As the class teacher on metagaming, I call it out for that.

Actually...Fight or Flight responses are complete instinct. They're a andrenaline-induced survival mode. There wouldn't be much of a inner world to project, really. You dont think when in one; 'Dont think, Just do' kinda situations.
He should've been more descriptive to show about such possible things, yes, but he isn't the most descriptive person here. Im sure you'd be surprised-and suspicious-if he suddenly started using such descriptiveness all of a sudden.

Ya seemed suspicious of the sample post of...Um...What was his username? Not Zai...I know he was apparently notorious for bad grammer, though...

Alright, bad example, since bad grammer doesn't equal bad RPing(which I still say Hawk doesn't always do). Still. My final argument is blarg.
Im spent...Guh...Tired, yet dont wanna go ta sleeeeep. Iunno, maybe I'll think up something in the morning when I can think, then keep it in my head till the afternoon. Not that Im sleeping yet, but...
