Kanji
An ancient form of magic that involves symbolism and symbols, specifically those used by the Japanese for their words during ancient times, as those symbols were the focusing points of sorts. Each symbol has their own property and unique effects when drawn. However, be fair warned that this process is risky and you should avoid making a mistake when using the kanji as this is called as it has a tendency to blow up in your face if you make a single mistake on it. These are also very hard to make and require intense levels of concentration to make. They can be written on paper and imbued with magic, drawn by hand on any kind of writing surface or even drawn in the air out of energy or blood or ink.
Note in this form of magic, the magic flows through the body like Chi or Chakra, instead of as spells so it is always there. This grants an advantage to the wielder, but also a disadvantage.
Types of Kanji
There are several types of Kanji. Each type is different from the one before it, but all of them have one similarity to them, namely they are symbols of power.
Offensive Kanji
These are the Kanji used for most offensive type moves such as fireballs, lightning, causing storms to engulf your enemy, summoning monsters and what not. These are usually the ones that require more energy depending on the type of Kanji used. These tend to be the more violent types of Kanji that are used, each of them are symbols however and have to be drawn or made to take effect. They also tend to behave more violently than normal magic spells. Also when normal spells and Kanji collide there are volatile effects for some odd reason.
Defensive Kanji
Defensive are just that, defense. They can be anything from shields to wards to whatever the heck else as well. The only difference is that the Kanji are more stable in this form as opposed to the offensive Kanji as they don?t do damage. They can defend or they can heal at the moment in time, so the Kanji are useful at controlling the area around the person. As these are defensive, spells used against them tend to bounce back at the caster.
Summon Kanji
These are the ones used for summoning powers. Such as summoning golems or doing things similar or even summoning monsters around to attack their foes. The summoning is a powerful symbol at the moment in time, and when drawn these must be very precise. Otherwise the summoned creatures tend to attack the creators of the Kanji.
