The War Begins: It's So Cold Here

As was occurring on the other planets, fighters were moving in to attack. To attack everything. The fighters bore resemblance in design to the old Twilight Empire, and like the Twilight, they were ruthless. Bombs began to fall as they flew throughout the planet's skies.

The response of the Coldlands to this attack was ruthless. As soon as the enemy appeared, and before they could loose even a single bomb, they were frozen solid. Everywhere except the cockpit, that is. The cockpit itself was but a cage, allowing its inhabitants to watch as they plummeted for the icy surface of the Coldlands. And if they survived that much, they'd get to watch as Coldlands pulled them under, crushing them with gravity and pressure. In the domain of the Coldlands, there would be no survivors.

As the fighters crashed and burned, something strange began to occur inside the cockpits. The dead bodies of the soldiers began to release the oozing, yellow Twilight Energy which literally began to eat into and convert the fighters themselves before spreading to take over the planet.

As soon as the Coldlands noticed this strange energy, it was immediately rejected, with a form of anti-gravity forcing the ships all away from the planet, straight into the coldness of deep space beyond the star system.
