Yin & Yang each have their own servants, and get them in differing ways. Yin favors to create his, and they are known as the Enforcers. Unwaveringly loyal to their creator, the Enforcers are anthropomorphic, strong willed individuals trained to be merciless with their magical prowess. Yang however, recruited his servants, brought them in willingly, as was his nature. But inevitably, even his loyal, and diverse armies were outnumbered by the more predictable, dependable Enforcers. So, he hatched a plan to create his own servants, even the odds. He developed the Renforcer Virus to mimic Yin's method of creating Enforcer's, by giving animals Spirits. But it was simpler process, the Virus simply expanded their intelligence and made them stronger. It gave them a more humanoid form for convenience's sake. Animals infected with the disease became less intelligent then he had hoped, and were useful only for the strength in numbers they presented. Unsatisfied with the results, Yang scrapped the project. Most of the infected beasts were returned to their natural, simple surroundings, where despite their new shape, they returned to their old ways.
But something happened no one could expect. The Virus spread to a Karmagan. The Viruses effect on a sentient being were... Dramatic. Though some variations exist, when a sentient creature is infected with Renforcer disease, the gain the ability to shapeshift between predetermined forms. Since the Virus always comes from a core Animal, these forms are based on that animal, be it bear, wolf, fox, puma, or other such forest creature. The infected more or less have free control of these forms, and it becomes easier over time.
Normal Form: This is the normal state of being an infected individual is in before they were infected, and is virtually unchanged. They can still enjoy all their special abilities, such as magic, unfettered. The only physical changes are a greatly improved immune system, more physical strength, and increased intelligence. The only real drawbacks are that some bizarre animal behavior may materialize occasionally, and hair tends to starts growing in.. odd place. Much faster, too.
Mixed Form: An in-between form, the infected will take on a new appearance unique to them, that blends the general appearance of Normal form with traits from their beast form, such as ears, tail, more fur, teeth, etc. Mixed form is stronger physically then the Normal form, but special abilities from Normal form are significantly weaker. But Mixed form has the perks of Beast form, such as reflexes, magical resistance, and he beginnings of the special soul organ.
Beast Form: This form is entirely different then the Normal form, and is very uniform. The Beast form of another race will still look almost entirely the same with a completely different race. Beast form is a race in and of itself. The form is bigger in physical size then the Normal form, this is true no matter how large Normal form may be, and is in amazing physical condition. No matter what the physical strength of normal form is, Beast form has a physical strength level of about 5. If Normal form is weak, it may be 4. If it is strong, it may be 6. Additionally, Beast form has the claws and teeth of the animal it takes after, and can use them to great effect. Due to the awkward hands of this form, and lack of thumbs, makes using weapons in this form awkward, but their natural weapons are quite effective. The senses and reflexes of this arm are spectacular, even better then the animal it is based off, and due to physical strength and reflexes, this form can sprint at incredible speeds. Their is one more thing unique to Beast form, and that is a Dark Soul organ, which replaces any magical organ Normal form. Dark Soul organ produces Dark Magic, obviously. Dark Magic is not especially powerful compared to other forms, but it is incredibly versatile and very easy to use. Even if a being has no magic in their Natural form, they can usually use Dark Magic instinctually and effectively. It is simply an easy to understand form. In addition to all these perk, Beast form heals at incredible rates. However, it has drawbacks. As already mentioned, the Dark Soul organ replaces any magic ability Normal and Mixed form may have, and can be significantly weaker then the magic organ an Infected individual had in their natural state. Also, for reasons not entirely understood, this form is weak to weapons made of certain metals, especially silver. This curse affects all the forms as well. This form also has a weakness to fire. There is also a danger of beastly instinct overriding a sentient persons thoughts, though this is not always a bad thing.
There are two other forms Renforcers can access when certain conditions are met. When a Renforcer is highly motivated, such as when they are losing a fight, or when they feel particularly empowered, they can transform into one of two forms.
Ubershade Form: The Renforcer physically resembles their Mixed form, but tend to grow larger as the Dark Soul organ is working much faster. Their Dark Soul organ becomes three times as large and puts out three times the energy, leading to insanely strong Dark Magic spells.
Uberbeast Form: The Renforcer becomes a much, much, larger version of their Beast form, and keep their magical ability. Their weaknesses to silver and fire vanish, and they become almost invulnerable to physical attacks. Their strength and speed are without equal in this form, and the scope of damage that can be done is incredible.
The time spent in these forms varies depending the power of the motivation that lead them to slip into these forms. Generally, they do not last much longer then 9 hours. On a final note, Dark Magic is more powerful at night, and Renforcers are empowered by full moons. Sometimes, full moons can trigger the Uberbeast transformation.
