I Was Once, Possibly, Maybe, Perhaps A Cowboy King
« on: January 09, 2013, 06:22:30 PM »
The Hand & Strings was nestled safely away in a small warehouse, where its cargo was currently being unloaded by workers that looked like Humans. The crew was on leave for the rest of the night, including the intergalactically infamous Ash and Lee Ripley. The pair stood talking to the captain, Jemison.
"I don't like it, Skipper." Ash was saying. He stood with his strong arms crossed over his chest, shaking his head. Lee, in a loving mockery, imitated the pose, leaning on his side to get him to lose his balance. Jemison was used to the pair constantly screwing around, even when conversing with him. He didn't appreciate it, but they were some of the best at what they did, so for a staff like them, he was willing to put up with it.
"We're only staying here a night. The crew could use some time out of the ship, they were getting stir crazy in there." the Captain reasoned. Ash nodded.
"Yeah, yeah I know. Wish we could have stayed on Pleasure Planet instead, that's a hell of a party." Jemison shook his mechanical head.
"I don't know if we can go back, after what you guys did to that bar..." He alluded faintly. Lee cocked her head, noting the movement in his head. She thought for a second about how strange it was, even in his mechanical body, his movements were as erratic as an organic. In a way, it disturbed her. It was like a puppet saying it was a real boy, or like a chimp wearing humans clothes. It wanted so desperately to be real, but it wasn't. Why did he do that? Didn't he know was a robot? Didn't he know he would never experience real flesh, real blood, real pleasure? Why did he insist on trying so hard?
And, worst of all, why did it bother her so much? He was free to make the decisions he deemed best. And, in the end, all attempts to be human would be met with disappointment by this hollow shell of circuits and metal. So, in the end, her ideology won out. Why wasn't that good enough? Lee realized it may have had to with the planet they were on.
This place, that was referred to by the locals as "the Colony", bothered her worse than Jemison's mannerisms, but in much the same way. The natives claimed to be human, but they weren't. There was a hollow ring in their cheery voices, and their mannerisms were either too forced, or too precise. She didn't know what was going on here, and she didn't care. Ash was asking the Captain to leave that night on her behalf, but he refused. He was right, of course, but it still pissed her off. Her and her brother were the only ones who seemed to notice, too. They'd come to this planet several times, and the rest of the crew were fond of it.
Of course, all it took for the rest of the crew to be happy with a planet was to meet a moderately attractive woman who put out. And some of the locals had, so one didn't hear them complain. That disgusted her too, in several ways. On one hand, that meant that several sisters were unliberated and did NOT respect their bodies. Most of the boys one the crew weren't worth getting naked for. She hated to see men who didn't deserve it get pussy. And, on the other hand, it meant that the other crew members didn't care that these people weren't truly human, that they would screw whatever would allow them too. She didn't mind people who screwed around; but she hated anyone without standards or hindrances, or who wanted it too much.
The reason for the human condition, and especially the male sex, was a lack of respect for their bodies and an emphasis on all the wrong things. Sex is good; indiscriminate sex isn't. Well Lee didn't subscribe to the sex after marriage mindset per se, she did believe sex was a sacred and spiritual experience that was not to be abused. She had lived that life for too long, and knew what it did to one's soul.
"Whatever you say Skipper. But if you change your mind, I'll round up the boys and pull them out of that bar." Lee's thoughts were interrupted by her brothers voice, and she looked up and realized she had zoned out and nearly fallen over. But her ever-considerate brother had adjusted his stance to support her lean. A little bit embarrassed, Lee shook it off and looked back at Jemison.
"That won't be necessary.  I still don't understand why you two don't like this place, everyone else does."
"You wouldn't." Lee interrupted, keeping her gaze fixed on Jemison's optical sensors. Her face was stone blank, and her eyes were slanted accusingly. Something in her tone told Jemison exactly what was on her mind. He acknowledged it by returning the gaze briefly, before choosing to change the subject.
"Besides, you can't just call them the boys anymore. There's that new girl, the magic one. Everyone's taken a shine to her." All three turned to look as the girl herself appeared in the dock, Leona Miriquois.
"Right right, it's semantics Skipper. Well sis, we may as well enjoy this planet in whatever way we can. Get the gear, don't forget the Novapod." He said, leaning back against her to force her on her feet.
"Go on, Sheena!" He said, drawing out the last word mockingly. His eyes sparkled happily, he loved teasing his sister because he knew she loved it too.
"Fine, you fascist pig." She replied. Their sense of humor was often self deconstructing. They both knew their stereotypes, and liked to joke about it.
"I'm taking the landrunner, by the way." Ash said offhandedly, directing it back at the Captain.
"What, why?" Jemison asked with some concern.
"Don't even worry about it." The man replied, uncrossing his arms and walking away. "See ya tomorrow, Skipper."
Jemison got a bad feeling in the pit of his mechanical parts. He often did when Ash opened his mouth.
"Heyayayayay new girl!" Ash shouted across the dock as he approached Leona. He had a smile on his face and a swagger in his step.

Such a hassle to join a new clique, group, force or crew. It always was and Leona knew that well enough, being an orphan and living off what she could scrounge meant that she had to join teams of people in order to pull off bigger plans but that always came with its problems.
Leona was her own biggest problem for several reasons but none of them were applicable at this moment but anyway, being such a problem caused her to have trouble deciding whether or not to get to know other people and actually trust them. This time however she had... well a feeling, she just had a good feeling about this crew that she was going to hopefully join.
Landing before the door to the warehouse, the Corvinus took a deep breath and reached up. As her hand slid up and contacted her head, the girl's fingers brushed the black feathers that surrounded her head, they were tiny at the moment, maybe around an inch but then again she was very young yet. A sigh escaped from Leona's lips and she brushed her feathers back, letting them rest against her head before reaching back further and fixing her hair under her black hairband that sat atop her head.
"What am I even attempting to do?" She murmured to herself, furrowing her eyebrows. "I am joining a damned pirate crew but for what reasons?"
You want to hurt people don't you? You want to get people back for your poor little past, don't you?
The voice was quick and sounded as though the speaker was buzzing on caffeine, they weren't though... the speaker wasn't even a person. The speaker was a sword, more specifically a katana on Leona's back and yet more specifically, a possessed katana with a spirit known as Miriam bound to it.
Quiet, Miriam, you are quite wrong. Leona, you want to do this because you want to belong somewhere, you want to find people who will care for you and whom you can care for and protect, as is your nature.
This second voice, female like Miriam was Azamoth, and her voice was much more smoother and more mellow than the first spirit's. Her voice was also the one that Leona agreed with for now.
"I guess you're right Aza, well I probably need to go and say hi anyway.... so I guess I'll go in now." She said after standing outside for a couple of minutes.
Stepping inside the building, Leona's bright yellow eyes darted around, absorbing as much of the surroundings as she could in case she had to make a quick getaway but she didn't think she would. About then she heard something about 'The New Girl' whom she thought was herself. It was apparently true as she looked around and saw three people standing and looking at her. Leona's eyes widened and she blushed, noticing the stare before she started to slowly walk towards them, wishing she could hide her head feathers.
Sure enough, her guess was correct as one of the people broke off and walked towards her. "Hey there." She called to him, her voice light and with a heavy sing-song lilt to it. "I'd prefer not to be called New Girl though, I already feel out of place enough for that." She smiled and laughed quietly, stopping in front of the guy and putting her left arm straight down, grabbing her elbow with her right.
Leona wore a long t-shirt, black in colour and with decorative buttons on the front although plain otherwise, that sat over a pair of shorts that were black also. Under these were a pair of tights and her shoes, black in colour as well. She didn't appear to be carrying anything but she had a bag of spare clothes and such stashed away within a five minutes run, so no need to worry there.
"Eh, I'm Leona." She rubbed her arm gently and then held out her hand to Ash. "Might I know your name?"

New information, knowledge of any sort. It was the primary driving force in almost any Marid. Those with the collective even had stores of these knowledge secreted away in the very minds of the parental gems.

Sexual knowledge was an interesting subject to some Marid. It was harder emulating the more intimate parts of another species than just their outward appearance. It had taken a number of encounters like the ones the crew were providing for these Marid to get it right. When they did, perfecting and accumulating a deeper understanding of sexual relations became an almost sacred task.

One such Marid, wasn't satisfied in the brutes and swash of the men of this crew. He was a veteran of the Elemora Crisis. An event that earned him his promotion, and his position as Logistics Commander. Yet... even with the books and other such stores of knowledge he got first access to from trading with the K Empire. He felt the most sinful emotion any Marid could feel.

Boredom

The name of this Marid was Yule, to confirm the supplies that the crew had purchased and then order their distribution onto their vessel. Yule was dressed in a jet black uniform, with silver decoration. It was both practical and just flashy enough to indicate his high rank. The left breast of his uniform  read in reflective silver letter, "Yule". An image of a crow wearing a crown in flight, carrying a package denoted his rank of Logistics Commander.

As he approached four members of the vessal, "I am Logistics Commander Yule, The confirmation report for the Captain is ready. he he wishes he can meet me for tea to discuss the details, or he can host the discussion."

Just like many other Marid, his tone was too precise and nearly spine-chillingly polite.

As Yule approached the four, who were standing on the open hatch of the ships cargo bay, and people rushed back and forth unloading, they split off in their own directions, Ash going to converse with Leona and Lee off to her bunk to retrieve things for their plans tonight. That left the Captain for him to speak with.
As his organization was much less formal, and he didn't actually wear clothes, the tall, brooding Mecheran had only battle scars on his dull brown painted body to denote his rank. Most were ground down, though some scorch marks indicated he had taken plasma rounds at one point or another as well. He held his gaze as the man approached him, crossing his arms.
"I'm the Captain. What's this about a report? We never had to do anything more then sign before." He noted, cocking his head to the side. He also noted the man's tone; it reminded him of his kin.

--

Lee physically recoiled, though she was out of view of the man and her Captain, she still heard him speak. She shuddered violently.
"Can't handle this shit, man." She muttered to herself, ducking into the cabin she shared with her brother. She found the gear all packed up already, in a nice big plastic bin. Inside was two nano packed mummy bags, a five man tent, two hatchets, some firestarting supplies, five liters of water, three plasma pistols,  jerky and granola, and a few other odds in ends. Before she picked it up, she slung two hunting rifles over her shoulders, and picked up the heavy bag. The muscles on her bare arms rippled, she smirked at her own strength, which she owed to the strength training equipment which consumed most of their cabin.
Supplies gathered, she stepped out into the hall, taking up most of the room, and headed back to the bay.

--

Ash snickered a bit.
"Shouldn't of told me that. I'll be calling you new girl a lot now. It's nice to meet you, I'm Ash. We don't run into each other on the ship a lot, I'm in the main bridge with the Captain. I don't run to the Gunnery Bridge much." Ash took her hand and shook it, looking her in the yes and smiling.
"May I ask, what's your species? I haven't seen anything quite like you." He asked, good naturedly.

"Oh darn... Well, it certainly isn't the worst thing that I've been called so I guess it's okay." A small laugh escaped Leona's throat and she shook her head, her hand slowly and gently rubbing her arm as she spoke to Ash.
"Well, if you want to know what I am I guess I could tell you, it's not much of a secret." She took a deep breath, hoping he wouldn't react too badly. "I'm a Corvinus Sage, or a Raven Sage if you have heard of them. We are a powerful race... depending but I have a rather bad history with them so I don't associate too much." She smiled but it wasn't friendly and looked away. "Well enough about me, ehm... How long have you been serving with this ship and where's the Captain, I might have need to speak with him about sleeping arrangements and such... and how long you'll be spending planet side before we need to go."
Inside her head though, Azamoth and Miriam were arguing with such fervour over what should be done to Ash that Leona herself couldn't make out any of the words so she just zoned out of that conversation, content to let them shout at one another.

(OOC: As Cap is only involved with one character, I'm going to move on with the uninvolved characters. You can continue the conversation with Jemison whenever you want Cap.)
"A raven sage? That's cool! So you can fly and shit? Jealous. I always wanted to fly for real." Ash nodded understandingly.
"We've all got our histories. Errybody's running from somethin' here." Ash crossed his arms and patted his stubble head, muttering about how he needed to shave.
"Well, I been serving for about nine months I think? Became First Mate about three months ago after an unfortunate accident. I dunno 'bout sleeping arrangements, but we'll be staying the night and setting off about midday."
"'ey! You lazy cuntswab! Letting the lady carry all da shit!" A voice piped in. As they turned, they would see Lee approaching them carrying the large box, she had a smile on her face. She wore a black wifebeater and military canvas pants. She had strikingly beautiful blue eyes that seemed to be looking right through you, into your inner being, and a stubbly shaved head that seemed to make her all the more beautiful.
"Ah, you could use the exercise you fat bitch!" Ash shouted after her. The two shared a laugh.
"Hey sis, this is the New Girl! New Girl, this is my sister Lee." Ash beckoned as he spoke. Lee nodded.
"I'd shake your hand but my hands are kind of occupied. Unless some-bod-y could help me out..." She said nonchalantly, glaring at her brother.
"You'll get no help from me." He replied, sticking out his tongue.
