The Garaleng Virus
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:16:45 AM »
Name: The Garaleng Virus
Age: No one knows...
Race: Depends on what it infects
Alliance: Nothing
Biography: This virus was originally used for bio-mechanical warfare for the Garalengs. The virus is actually a virus artificially made to infect and control, unlike other viruses that infect and kill. The virus is very adaptive. The Garalengs used the virus on a prisoner patient. Once the virus took over the patient, it learned one thing from that patient that endangered everything in existence: self-awareness. It then got through the filters and containment systems, and within minutes, the entire Garaleng base, which would be the entire planet. The Garalengs knew that the only way to kill the virus was to blow up the planet. They did, from the inside, with an anti-matter device that was close to the core. The explosion set things off everywhere. The virus then quickly adapted to the coldness of space for thousands of years, drifting.

Coincidentally, the Aralangs were planning for an attack, unaware of what just happened. They came into the universe the virus was born. The virus and the Aralangs met at Garaleng planet. In the middle of a hellish battle, the virus took over the soldiers, and then soon, the ships. The ships that were thought to not be contaminated retreated immediately as soon as they realized what was happening. The ones that they knew were contaminated self-destructed, killing the virus. Before the Aralangs and the Garalengs could kill themselves, they virus got control of everything in the system. The consciousness and subconsciousness were gone. Free will was gone. The infected could do nothing, literally nothing.

The supposed safe ships that got out of the universe and onto another one were actually infected. The virus just waited for the Aralangs to jump to another universe. The virus may be destructive, but it is also smart, and intelligent.

The Aralangs finally quarantined and killed the virus, until there was nothing but one, single cell. This took place at the Guardian dimension, in the Guardian base. There was a quarantine room, so the quickest way to defeat it was to contaminate it, rather than killing it. They were just about the kill the trapped virus until Hikaru came and killed everyone in the HQ. She was not aware of a virus.

The virus has been dormant, until its dormancy has been interrupted by Alix. It became active. The virus tried to get out, but the quarantine kept it trapped. The virus is still groggy. It's only time until it's completely active and adapts to the quarantine.

The virus learns what the infected knew. Though, it takes time for the virus to realize the potential of the infected.

The virus also adapts. If heat was used, it quickly adapts to it. Though, the more it adapts to one thing, the slower the adaption rate. It goes to the point when the virus gains from said heat, and used it like photosynthesis. If coldness was used, the adaption to the heat would quickly go away and the less it gets adapted to the heat, the slower the rate in decrease of adaption. It would adapt to the coldness accordingly. If heat and coldness are both used, it would adapt to them accordingly. Despite the fact that heat and coldness are opposites, the virus still adapts to them as if they are one thing. The less often the virus is attacked, the lower the adaption is. The decrease in adaption goes accordingly.

Weapons: Depends on what it infects
Equipment: Depends on what it infects
Magic Level: Depends on what it infects
Appearance: Blood-like. You can tell if the person is infected by blood-red spots all over the person. The spots aren't exactly blood. It's the color of the cells.

As this was already approved on the board before, I see no reason to deny it.

Approved.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

I say it can't fully control someone. You're saying subconscious, as well. But sentience is known for its free will. It's the one thing that is almost impossible to completely control. Because sentient creatures can always fight back. Even if they're controlled, they would still know it to have the will to fight back. Animorphs taught me that.

Animorphs Excerpt! Went and got the book and found the page for you.
Quote
<Now you listen to me,> Cassie said. <No one, nothing an eliminate free will. Don't be ridiculous. Even with a Yeerk in your head, you have free will. Not the will to DO, but the will to think, to believe, to hope or love or whatever.>

"I wanted to tell him. I wanted to say, Look, it can't be done. There's no such thing as a human being without a free will. It's ...it's... idiotic! But he's no scientist, much less a philosopher. You can't seperate a sentienct creature from free will. They ARE free will. Yeerk, Hork-Bajiir, human, it doesn't matter. A sentient species has free will like an object has mass. You can't seperate them! But Visser Three doesn't listen."

We may not go by Animorphs, but the book brings a good point. And that series influenced my belief in argument about free will.

The weaker minds, such as NPC's, wouldn't be able to break free so easily. Main characters would. NPC's would be able to do it, if they fight hard enough, but they would think it's hopeless and give up. They would also be forced to watch, which creates fear, which makes them give up much more quickly. The virus would resist, if the victims try to fight back.

The consciousness and subconsciousness are partially controlled. Fear and self-loathing, and even hopelessness can be attempted to be forced into the subconsciousness. The virus would be able to shift through the memories to show the victim what they hate or fear the most. Telepathy is blocked. For the consciousness, the virus removes the senses.

The virus spreads from ship to ship by traveling through a harmless beam, which goes very fast, at around 10km/s.

Stealthy time!

Basically... the infected no longer have appearances that makes it stand out from the non-infected. The person, in fact, they would appear and behave perfectly normal. This makes it harder to detect the Virus. Same goes to technology. The Virus is pretty much invisible to the naked eye. The Virus can make itself become visible, though.
