Chimera Sage
« on: September 20, 2010, 09:37:33 PM »
Since, with Cero, I have my own Sage species, might as well!

First off, Chimera Sages are extremely potent with the magics of Earth, Air, and Nature, tying with the mythology of the Chimera being the Lion, Hawk, and Snake. I thank Nisorin for aid in figuring this out.

As for the abilities, Chimeras are naturally pretty strong, even if they dont always look it. They can deliver a beating with their fists if need be. As well, they're very lightweight, and often leap large distances to get away from foes. They use these in tandem with spells for a devestating battle strategy. Due to their affiliation with nature, they also possess innate knowledge of most natural poisons and toxins, allowing them a edge if they can make those.

Now, as for common spells...(Hik, hope ya dont mind, Im using the template froms your topic)

Spell Name:Petrification
Spell Level:High. Its not usually easy.
Type of Spell:Earth
Spell Description:Turns the target to stone. It travels through a form of light, that causes the target to become stone.
Counter Spell:Uh...Iunno. Mirror, maybe? Yeah, that'll work.
Notable Examples:N/A

Spell Name:Toxicity
Spell Level:Innate for Chimeras. Dunno about other mages, middle-level, maybe?
Type of Spell:Nature, can be mixed with Air or Water magic for a transmissive agent as well, but it itself is Nature magic.
Spell Description:The user crafts a poison out of their own magic, that alone can be applied to a foe as a curse or a weapon as a enchantment(basically, alone it can either inflict a foe with poison or give a weapon this ability). It IS a magic poison, so its not that easily cured without either proper magic, or treatment. Lethality of the spell can be controlled.
Spell Counter:Uh...Magic Antidotes, I guess?
Notable Examples:N/A

Aaaand thats it for now. Currently, the only known Chimera Sage is Cero, sorta. Chimeras are mine, if you want to add to the roster or use Chi, just ask first. I'll probably let you. Maybe.

Wouldn't this be a rip off, since there already is a sage?

There's several different subspecies of Sages. Dragon, Phoenix, Griffin, ect. Each owned by someone else, I think. Anyways, I was allowed this. I think. This is just another kind of Sage.

Oh. Well, I like the title. Chimera doesn't really seem to fit the description, so when we add this, we're going to have to state that, kay?

I like it though. Just doesn't correspond lol. Approved.

...? The Chimera was a hybrid of a Lion(which corresponds to Earth in this), a Hawk(Air), and a Snake(Nature)....I thought I said that...

And? Appearance wise, I mean. Chimeras are ugly beasts with snakes for tails and such. I think you should make them unique, so it isn't a BILLBOARD RACE DAMMIT.

Ooooh...Eh...I think your thinking of the Manticore. Im not sure the Chimera was known for being ugly.

How is that not ugly? Granted, a Manticore is ugly too, actually, but a Chimera is pretty ugly..Sort of. They're both sort of cute actually..hm...

...Meh...I wasn't ever thinking of their changing ability when I made this...I'd have them be more regal than ugly, anyways, if it came to that.

I didn't really mean ugly, I mean like...they'd have different parts of them, like maybe if they're human they'd have a black person's arm, an Indian's face, etc? I dunno, something other than just human, you know? Have some have snakes on their hair (Medusa lawl) or have them have three heads.

Oooooh...Eh...Wouldn't that just be changable with magic? I suppose there would be some, but...I dont even have much in my head concerning them as a species yet. This was mostly made to help develope one of my existing characters, Cero(who is a Sage, that was possessed by a evil spirit sealed inside of a gun). I will in all probability use individuals as a species, but...As far as all that, they're just Sages. Iunno, really. ._.

I get what you meam, though. I'll certainly think about that...Might add a bit to their character.

I thought that they were 1/3 lion, goat and snake? This is awesomer, because being part goat isn't very cool, but still...

I always remembered them having hawk wings. You might be right though, and I might be thinking of something else.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

Chimeras can actually be anything really, so long as it's three animals combined. Look at the Fullmetal Alchemist episode, where that guy made a talking chimera out of a human, a dog, and an alligator? I think? Some time of reptile.

Fullmetal Alchemist uses certain things from other mythologies, then makes its own twist. Moooostly Alchemy, and actually a lot of it is original. In the Fullmetal Alchemist universe, a Chimera is just any animal created by alchemical fusing more than one. It might have been a alligator in the original anime, but in Brotherhood(second version of the series, and more or less the same with different graphical style and I think its closer to the manga) its just his daughter and his dog, nothing more.

I haven't watched the new one cause I don't really like the voices, they don't really fit them anymore :( and still, in the original/first FMA they had the three together and it was still a chimera, no? Not to mention the original Chimera is a female...Anyway. You're right, the original three were the animals that you have; a lioness, a snake, and a goat. But why so cliche? Why not a bit original like FMA?

D: I dunno, it is your race lol so do as you wish.

I was just saying, to help explain it a bit better. And...Eh, I like the newer one better. Oh well, everyone has their own preferences, eh?

It doesn't have to be 3 animals. There are animals today classified as Chimeras, and they are more or less two. The only reason 3 and Chimera are tied together because it was the most popular one: A lion, a Goat, and a snake. It was a mythological figure often in Greek mythology, and when studied, people assumed it has to be three.

Hell, I could make a dragon goat snake lion bat ferret animal, and it'd be considered a chimera.
