Reluctance to lead and consequences
« on: September 27, 2010, 05:07:23 PM »
One succesful terrorist attack was enough to shatter the confidence of the still crowned leader Arceis. So obviously it was time to pass the plate and make someone else who was more competent manage the Warrior Humans in his place along with the Elite Guard and the whole nine yards. Tensing up he decided to give this task a shot and so he called in the one of the Mercs with a cloak. He was in a private room on the ship that could house 10 people comfortably.

“I have a new assignment for you personally my dear. You will get Lord Montreal to fully agree to become leader since the recent events have put doubts in his head that he wants to lead the Warrior Humans, a bit of reassurance is in order.” At that Arceis took out a picture of Lord Montreal’s dead wife. “I know of your ability to use your cloak and I am asking you to use it so that I may retire from this position since I am clearly not cut out to be leader of the Warrior Humans or of the Elite Guard.”

"Eh? Contracts go through Hiro first." She said, looking around, as if to make sure she wasn't being spied on. "Buuuut, its not like we'll be getting any work around here anyway...So shoot. What do you need?" She said, once she was sure nobody was listening in.

She was accepting? Good. “You basically go into Lord Montreal's room disguised as the person in the picture with the cloak powering the disguise. Talk with him a while and try to motivate him to take charge. After all he does need to learn to be a leader in place of me. Soon I won't be able to lead the Warrior Humans anymore unfortunately and so I am preparing for that day by choosing a successor in someone I know will be able to protect the people once I am dead and buried. That is pretty much it.” At that moment he handed the picture to her.

"Disguises? Oh...You've got the wrong merc. I can sure LOOK the part, but I wont sound, smell, or even act the same. Maybe all he needs is to just talk with a friend, sort it all out? But yeah, anyway, Im good for not seeming to be somewhere. Impersonations of living things just...Aren't my strongsuit."

Disguises were a no go, but perhaps she could be the one who would befriend Lord Montreal anyway. Arceis did not have the time or patience to deal with that man currently with all the recent events that were going on. Namely the bombing and the Aeresol attack which happened both within a week's time on Nap. Suffice to say that irritation was one of the responses of the last osmosian to what was going on. His other response was to get slightly on edge.

“Then you try to become his friend and talk with him a while, help him sort it all out as I am kind of busy trying to find out how the heck a nuclear bomb got smuggled into Nap along with the Aeresol weapon.” Futilely as well he had been trying since his computer skills were nonexistant and he had been trying to search the security cameras, trace calls and do all sorts of things that would allow him to find the people behind this.

“I am getting quite frustrated with these events as they hand themselves to me on a silver platter unfortunately. So much trouble, so little time to deal with all of these problems that arise.” said Arceis to Keira.

She simply asked him a single question:"Are you a friend of his, or not?"

“Actually we are more of acquantinces. See his family and friends along with his army and people were killed a decade ago in a brutal game held by the Alliance. He is the only survivor of them unfortunately. No matter how much I try I can't befriend him. What he says to me each time is that I don't need a criminal who let his own family and friends and army suffer due to a stupid mistake.” said Arceis qouting the words of Lord Montreal as he explained it to Keira. He sighed. “Someone really needs just to be friendly to him. Yet I am busy constantly trying to figure out who is responsible for the bombings and other terrorist attacks when I am not busy working on 1000 or more pages of paper work or training new recruits to fight. Argh. Keira your contract is now to try and befriend him since I have so much work that needs to be done and so much in fact that I can't handle every task. Even my aides have migraines from just looking at all the paper work I delegate to them and it still is far too much.”

"Ever heard of something called a vacation?" She asked, raising a eyebrow. "Just because your the leader doesn't mean you need to focus all of YOUR time towards the task. And what kind of paperwork could you possibly have so much of that you cant have a social life. Anyways, I cant help you. Im not god at that sort of thing, sorry."

A vacation? He hadn't had one of those in a great long time. However he showed her the endless stack of paper work of requests for more finances, more weapons, better scientists and other things. “I will go take a vacation. Do you know any merc that could handle the paper work while I try to have a social life before another crisis breaks out all over again?”

Wait. An idea had just donned on him. Why not take a vacation and have the mercs trace the recent battle and civillian internet hackings that had been going on at the hands of Grunder Industries. Why not after all? He could go on the vacation he wanted and take Lord Montreal to somewhere quiet and more importantly away from this mess while the Mercs figured out what he suspected namely that it was Grunder that had been hacking into the networks.

“Alright. I got a new contract for all the mercs. You are to go through the records in each and every computer system the WH and WH Elite own. You are to find out if ANYONE has been remotely accessing them. If so you are to put a stop to said person accessing our systems.” He held up the contract that he had just materialized via magic. “And the rate is 5x what you were paid last time,  250,000 credits. I don't like people hacking into my systems so.....”
