Absences
« on: April 12, 2011, 10:56:47 PM »
Well I know for sure I won't be on some time next week and will be offline most of sunday night in preparation for the memorial. So I am just letting you all know in advance that during that time my stuff and characters are off limits.

Yes, I thought you were speaking of this. I honestly don't see what's so wrong with calling it, "Easter."

We do celebrate the death of Christ, just as we mourn and remember him. We celebrate the gift he's given us. It was on that day, two thousand and eleven years ago, that we received the everlasting gift of Christ's love, and the gift of redemption.

Look up the background of the word Easter. It goes back to Pagan origins actually, which is why it is called the Memorial of Christ's death and NOT easter by Jehovah's witnesses. If you would care to look at that much information. And besides that, Easter is celebrating the RESSURECTION of Christ, not his death which is the ONLY thing he says to celebrate in the bible by saying keep doing this in remembrance of me.

I can't really look it up now, though I will later. I assume you're speaking of the Christendom influences on the event from the Holy Roman Empire. Regardless, Easter does not reflect now what it did then. Easter reflects the gift of Christ.

Easter = Ressurection of Christ
Memorial = Celebrating the death of Christ.

Christ said in the bible to celebrate his death, and NOT his ressurection. That is the difference besides the part that Easter now has ties to pagan religion as well if you look at it carefully and analytically enough.

And now in order to avoid giving the parents of Gaserlake any more ammunition they can use against us, we shall take this argument to PMs or Ims.

Good Friday, the day he died. On Easter Sunday, most Christians typically celebrate his death AND resurrection, because of what it means.

Matthew 28:5-7

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

But Jesus wouldn't want us to bicker over something like this. We should rejoice in the days ahead and remember the gift he gave us, as we should always do.

God bless.

True. Most of the religions of christendom celebrate both. I will inform you more about this off-site due to certain problems SP has currently.

He means the memorial/passover. The passing of the wine which represents Jesus's blood and the bread that represents Jesus's body in observance of the passover he had his followers do the night of his capture. I will also be going, even if I have been neglecting to go to the actual meeting, there's no way I'll miss the memorial. Total disrespect.

We also observe this, of course. On that subject I won't be on much Sunday, though Friday I should be on.
