Site Rules as of 04/3/2012

Here at Shattered Planes, we hold ourselves to a few rules which we hold as standard. All members and staff are expected to follow these rules or face consequences as spelled out here. The staff reserves the right to make changes to these rules at any times without warning. In addition, you must follow the terms of service which you agreed to when your account was registered on this board, as well as the law in both your local area and the United States. Any unlawful content on the board will be removed as soon as the staff is notified of the content in question.

Out Of Character/Universal Rules

1) Profanity is acceptable to a level that the staff holds as reasonable. To give you an idea of what is reasonable, a few curse words in a decent sized post is fine. Having every other word be a swear word is not acceptable.

First Infraction: Informal warning/advisory from staff.
Second Infraction: Formal warning (Note to staff: 10% increase)
Third Infraction: Formal warning, post moderation (3 days)
Fourth Infraction: Four day suspension
Fifth Infraction: Six month suspension
Sixth Infraction: Ban

2) Respect the staff. (Likewise, staff should respect members.)

First Infraction: Informal Warning

Third Infraction: Formal warning, post moderation (3 days)
Fourth Infraction: Four day suspension
Fifth Infraction: Six month suspension
Sixth Infraction: Ban

3) Drama is not okay. We don't want your silly squabbles here, or in the chatbox for that matter. Keep it to PM or offsite.

4) No flaming (name calling, bullying). We have zero tolerance for this.

First Infraction: Formal warning (30%), post moderation (3 days)
Second Infraction: Six month suspension
Third Infraction: Ban

5) No pornography. This does not apply for In-Character sex scenes, but on that subject, see below.

First Infraction: Formal warning (30%), post moderation (3 days)
Second Infraction: Six month suspension
Third Infraction: Ban

6) No baiting. This kind of falls under no drama but simply to be clear- Don't go trying to start trouble.

Also note, anything and everything you post on Shattered Planes is part of the story. You give up all Intellectual Property rights by posting your content here.

IRC Rules

1. No drama. If you have an issue with something or someone, keep it in a private chat or make a new channel.

2. No harassment.

3. No impersonating others. Playing around is fine, trying to seriously pass yourself off as another member is not.

4. No flaming.

This applies to EVERYONE, OPs included. Thank you.

There are a few other rules as well, that apply to the whole network. If you don't understand something in these rules, please don't hesitate to ask.

In Character Rules

1) No Godmoding. A general rule of thumb that can help you determine if your post is overpowered is to ask yourself if it is remotely possible for your opponent to counter the attack you dish out. If the answer is no, it is probably godmoding. Likewise, something that can miraculously kill every living being of a certain race, or some super weapon which can manipulate all of existence, is probably godmoding as well. Ask yourself if what you are doing is overpowered.

2) If you are in the middle of a fight, or trying to take over a planet (see the topic "How To Takeover A Planet"), or anything similarly related, and your opponent does not reply to your post or topic within three days, you may, if you wish, declare the "Three Day Rule" which declares that you win the battle/takeover. The purpose of this rule is to prevent abuse from those who would rather not post in a battle.

*NOTE, if the opponent posts that they will be away for some extended period of time, the three day rule does not apply until such a time that the member returns.*

3) Do not use unapproved requests until they are approved.

4) You may request up to five ships every week, counters start over every Sunday.

5) In-character content which is considered "R-Rated" is allowed to an extent. Any topic with this kind of content must be labeled, in the topic name, as follows:

NOTHING TOO GRAPHIC IS ALLOWED IN THESE TOPICS. Fade to black, don't go into detailed sex scenes. Generally nothing past "third base" is allowed. If in doubt, don't post it.

6) All posts made In Character are final unless nulled. If you post an attack topic on a planet, you may not simply ask for the topic to be deleted because you changed your mind. Such will be treated as Meta-Gaming and you will be punished accordingly.
