Go Prancing in France!
« on: December 08, 2011, 06:04:01 PM »
When in France, you had to look the part. So, for his cover Nick had chosen the garments of a business man although those were illusion over the armor that had been grafted into his skin. The reason he had even bothered with this is that he still needed more money to pay companies to design, well anything. It seemed as if this would be one job that could earn him a lot of credits. All he had to do was learn about the tech this empire had and pass on their secrets to another, a simple assignment. So walking towards one of the buildings Nick hoped he would find the information he was after.

Seeing right through his disguise, Kaleb appeared in the heart of France, having come to deliver something on behalf of his father to the K Centrr before returning to the P3C. He had been standing on the roof of the K Center when the newcomer had appeared. Kaleb was now floating right above Nick, a smile on his face.

"It's gonna take more than that to fool a sage."

He held out his hand, as if he might strangle Nick, but he didn't even touch the newcomer. Instead, the newcomer's feet began to be lifted off the ground. Kaleb was bringing him up to eye level. To Nick, it would feel like someone was holding him by the neck and suspending him in the air. Nick was at Kaleb's mercy.

When Kaleb attempted to lift him, Nick put counter pressure against that in order to foil the attempt of getting him off of the ground. The reason to do so was that Nick did not quite like being lifted into the air, and so when the guy said it would take a lot more than that Nick redoubled his efforts on his disguise as well, essentially splitting his focus between two easy to do things, one of which was his disguise. The other was his weight, to make him too heavy to sustain in the air. Or rather, to force himself to the ground a feet most spatial magics could be used to do.  "Darn it. Got a lot of work to do to earn some credits for that job I took."

"Getting better, but a disguise won't help you now," Kaleb replied. In one swift motion, a needle of sorts appeared in his hands and was quickly thrown in the air towards Nick.

"Speak. What is your job?"

As the needle was shot forward, on instinct Nick merely thrust a portal in front of himself to catch the needle before it could come in contact with him. Since he did not know what the needle did, it would not be wise to let it even come in close contact with himself and so he did not. The portal however would not redirect the needle back at the sender, but the surface of the sun seemed a fitting place to send the offending projectile.

"My business is my business, and not yours."

It was true, as his business was on a need to know basis. Reminding himself that no one needed to know of his business besides himself Nick looked at Kaleb for a moment, and then conjured a spell of his own, hundreds of darts that would come at Kaleb from all directions. If the darts hit, they would compel the person to answer one question truthfully of the person who asked them.

But the latter part of Nicks reply was drowned out by a loud roar of Kaleb Tyris as a blast of fire spread out from around him, surrounding each and every one of the darts and incinerating them. Kaleb was angry. This intruder was going to get wha he had coming to him.

Purple energy began to surround Nicks feet... Something was about to happen.

Wisely enough when the purple energy surrounded his feet, Nick teleported a few feet away thus avoiding whatever was coming. Something about the color purple did not seem right to Nick and so the energy was something to be at least for now, avoided. As for the fire, while it could try to incinerate the darts all the livelong day the darts simply would not be burned. For you see when you tried to burn them away, it released the contents of them travelling through the fire and back to you, riding it like a sort of entrance directly into the body of Kaleb.

"Now where do they keep the technology production plants in this area?"

The darts all seemed to hit Kaleb... Only they did not really. The moment they supposedly hit him, his body was revealed to be nothing more than a black ball of energy... Which exploded. The real Kaleb appeared right behind Nick, a sword in his hand which was coated with the purple energy and pointed right at Nick's back. Both of them were in some sort of spell circle, though there were no runes below them.

"Tell me what I wanted to know."

So the idiot had a blade pressed to the back of his neck glowing with a purple energy, which was a bad mistake. Well bad did not begin to describe how foolish it was to get close to someone like Nick especially with his armor systems engaged. Said armor systems released a cloud of devour nanites which began to eat away the sword, the glow, the ground that had the circle beneath them and even began to attack Kaleb suddenly. These nanites had an AM property to them as well so dispelling them with magic would not be something Kaleb could do. Well some of them had an AM property, while others did not.

However; Trying to put up an AM field in Paris was a bad idea. AAM fields automatically kicked in. A portal opened and quickly absorbed the Nantes. Kaleb pushed the sword into the neck of Nick... This was it.

Considering his options, Nick weighed them very carefully. Option 1, to flee would not be a viable option and in this situation would likely result in his demise. Option 2, to answer the question would lead to the forfeiture of the contract and the money that he had wanted to obtain. But yet survival was mandatory and so he said to him. "I was hired to obtain all of the K Empire's tech."  This was an ambigous answer, as the job had been to deliver it to the Zarethians, not that he would tell Kaleb that of course.

OOC: Shoulda tried to counter my sword.

started laughing, at first slowly and then faster. He seemed to be a maniac. He whispered in the ear of his enemy, "You're gonna die for that."

He finished his movement, pushing the sword right through the back of the neck of his enemy, undoubtedly killing him.

But you see Nick?s body and thus his neck had been armored. So the blade, despite the glow would not be able to penetrate him due to the armoring that had been literally grafted in his body. Still though it did paralyze him at least for now, and his magic and nanites set to work to fix the paralysis immediately, because of their core programming to preserve him alive. Almost immediately his magic produced a barrier that would cover his skin and push the blade out of him, dispelling the glow. At the same time the barrier would also form around him until it had formed a protective cocoon of sorts. No sassy retort came out of his mouth, as his body began to run a diagnostic and repair even though he could not move it.

The ground below Nick now seemed to vanish, revealing a Hole that went down for miles below him.

Before the hole could be fallen into Nick levitated now, recovered from what had happened. The wounds of old were gone, and since nothing had been done to intervene he was not paralyzed and the sword had been dissolved into nothingness. Nick faded from the area, using a different kind of teleportation called Fading Out, something he had made up.
