I dont know everything, but from what I can tell, here's how it went.

Started a liiiittle bit after you and Jeebus were gone, I think. Activity was slow and not many things were going on. Hik and L-Rage had a meeting in the chat(I will point out that, as according to Swift at least, Hik and L-Rage did try to get a hold of me. For whatever reason, however, I didn't get the memo. My point being that I dont think this was particularly supposed to be a private plan of theirs but instead a Staff Meeting with the available Staff) to determine a course of action to bring activity back, and they eventually settled on Genesis as a Event. Genesis backfired and the majority of the members who found out opposed it vehemently for various reasons(myself included, at the beginning), usually pointing out that the Event severely locks their already-strained ability to do anything with their characters(because of the Eclipse, this meant that everyone's characters, Empires, pretty much whatever they had were essentially stuck on whatever planet they were currently on and had no means to do very much of anything, or at least anything the player wanted to do with them). L-Rage and Hikaru refused to end the Event(however they were willing to make at least some compromises concerning it, such as Life Support systems being left online(which was my biggest issue, considering I had all of the Elementals on board a fleet at the time), and I believe other compromises may have been possible if either party had sought them), and as it dragged on the arguments appeared to grow more hostile and volatile. A few members, either not wanting to deal with the Event itself or, as in Thunderscreamer's case, not agreeing with its explanation on a fundamental level(such as that his Empire's technology literally could not have been influenced from a outside source due to circumstances arising from its backstory), decided to jump ship until the Event was resolved and they would be capable of ignoring it at their own whim. Then things appeared to remain a stalemate, with little IC activity if at all until this, hopefully successful, resolution.

In short, Genesis DID succeed in drawing attention to the forum, however the attention drawn was primarily negative, and a combination many members refusing to accept the Event and the Staff as a whole refusing to null it resulted in a schism that threatened to result in a large part of the memberbase leaving the forum on a possibly permanent basis.

If you'd like me to elaborate on anythin' more than that, just ask and I'll try to provide more details if I have 'em.

Ah, that helps a great deal, thanks.

As you can all see, I've readjusted things a bit to give the members a chance to decide where we go from here. That, combined with Hikaru's resignation, should save our member base. Question is, what do we do with that member base? I honestly don't favor the idea of scrapping the entire RP -- maybe a reboot, but not a scrap.

Honestly? I dont think we should scrap the RP OR reboot it. Null the last event, sure, and go in a new direction maybe, but a lot of us have our empires and characters, I really dont think many people are going to be happy about just starting everything over. What I would propose is we take everything that happened in the old plot...And keep it as backstory that does not primarily affect what we'll have as the new plot. Any new Events we do dont need to have anything to do with whats already happened, and have a new plotline.

That seems like the best course of action to me as well, I was not suggesting a reboot, merely stating that if it comes to the extreme I will go with it. On the subject of such a new direction moving forward, I agree with you. I think there's a lot of room to flesh out with the alien races we introduced in Season 4...

Suvian (Ancient Starclan), Mexta, Dama, Tal... These races were great and powerful but no longer are around and we don't know much about them. We know part of the war that the Dama had with whatever took them out took place outside the entire Dimensional Plane, and that the race they were fighting could destroy entire supertitans... So something very powerful. We can really expand on a lot of this. It would cause a lot of chaos if another supertitan of complete alien design showed up in the middle of everything.

But we really need to let members decide the course of the plot more, that's very important.

I created a test board on invision to give us an idea of what a time skip might look like. No, I'm not suggesting we use invision, SMF works fine, I just made it on an IF board for convenience as a test:

Of course another time skip at the moment might be a bad idea.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Although definitely hold off on any time skips, not everyone's characters are immortal and if we keep bringing those out people will have to explain how they're still alive and all. At least not a timeskip of a year or more. And including the members in Event-making is a definite must, its why I set up a topic in the...General Talk board, I wanna say? specifically for members to share their Event ideas for us to take into consideration and implement.

Actually, speaking of alien races, I had a Event idea myself involving whoever it is that developed the Planet Golems. I dont quite wanna put it into play yet(the Golems haven't really been in play long and I wanna make sure they're competent and all first), which is why I haven't brought it up, but there is that. Hell, there's probably entire other intergalactic communities and alliances our Empires just haven't ever seen before only because they're so far away.
