Self Destruct
« on: May 28, 2010, 11:56:23 AM »
In an act of desperation the pilot in order to prevent the ship from falling to the Anrufe activated the self destruct switch on the ship which would cause the ship to go boom literally and take the Anrufe with it since an AM field had been activated.

The self-destruct was deactivated from inside the ship, considering the Anrufe had control of the ship. The pilot was placed in an AM prison along with the rest of the crew.

OOC:Whomever said that it COULD be deactivated, hmm? Generally a Self-Destruct is a last resort...You dont want someone to be able to cancel it out, usually.

(Well, you can have a self-destruct override switch, to prevent anyone from wanting to blow up your ship from the inside. Also, "OH SHIT! WE GOTTA SELF DESTRUCT! WAIT REINFORCEMENTS ARRIVED! WE'RE SAVED! WAIT, WE CAN'T STOP THE SELF-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE! AAAAAAAAHHHHH! WE'RE DOOMED! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" or something along those lines.)

OOC:...Well, yeah, you got a point there...Of course, that is why you have escape pods...

((No ship of decent size has enough escape pods for all the crew, and you'd still be wasting a perfectly good ship.))
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

OOC:...Why wouldn't they? And either way, better to make sure its destroyed than let your enemy get a hold of it, you know? Although it would depend on the situation. Of course, then there is also the fact that the Anrufe soldiers might not know exactly HOW to disable to Self Destruct; it would be logical to have a password required as a fail-safe in that case. I doubt the Anrufe would know the password in that such case.

(You can make it so that you can time the self-destruct to 15 minutes, which would be enough for a large amount of reinforcements to arrive, and enough to be boarded. There is a possibility that there wouldn't be enough escape pods, nor enough time, as as you run towards the escape pods, seats are taken. You would have to go across the entire ship, and that would take more than 15 minutes, especially since there would be panic and such. So, it's better to wait for reinforcements to arrive and save the ship, or wait 15 minutes for a good amount of enemy troops to be on board and blow it up, killing everyone on board, and probably even the boarding ships, than blowing up the self-destruct sequence unnecessarily.)
