Relorian Research Project: Mueratos
« on: July 25, 2010, 10:51:49 PM »
The Mueratos project is one of the last-resort weapons in the Relorian arsenal. They are a series of semi-biological pathogens crafted using a combination of powerful magic from all three spheres and a small amount of spirit energy. While quite costly, they are highly effective, both at defeating the enemy soldiers and demoralizing their reinforcements, before infecting them as well. Depending on how the results of the Mueratos is used, it may be considered a bio-terrorism tool. Due to this, usage of the Mueratos pathogens are highly, highly restricted. Only The Four can order its use. ((Nisorin & Celestie Lertis, Alexander & Luna Ceris)) They all move about the victim's body with surprising mobility,

Mueratos Korie: A small pathogen resembling a bat that invades the target and opens up lacerations with a small, sharp appendage on its underbelly. Weak to focused heat, such as a surgical laser. Is able to create large lacerations over time, which need to be pulled together with forceps or something similar before being sutured shut. Korie forms from Kariter eggs within one hour, and progresses to Kariter stage within four hours of life.

Mueratos Kariter: The fully grown variant of Korie, it looks similar to a mostly-wingless bat crawling through the infected person's tissues. They can create much larger lacerations than the Korie, and can reproduce into a highly infectious egg-filled fog if it reaches the victim's lungs. Kariter and its younger variant often start at the intestines and move to the lungs, sometimes attacking areas in between along its way.

Mueratos Deneria: A two-part pathogen, Deneria is a dangerous duo of organisms that produce specialized tumors that grow to one centimeter in diameter before bursting, causing hemorrhaging and internal bleeding. If the two different parts collide, which happens every few seconds, they will form into one large tumor and start sapping away energy from the affected organ. Often attacks the stomach. Pauses activity if bodily fluids are drained from all parts.

Mueratos Toriin: A six-part pathogen that moves across the surface of internal organs, creating tiny, round lacerations. Cells on the edges of the lacerations begin producing highly toxic poisons of varying types like a gas. Each part produces a different poison. Often attacks the kidneys, the liver, and the stomach first.

Mueratos Sorae: The infantile Sorae is a rather simple pathogen, roaming around the organ they are birthed in to burrow into the tissue and feed off of it, leeching nutrients through the flesh. They look like little tiny beetles, scurrying about the organ's surface. Weak to focused heat, such as a surgical laser. Grows into the Sorae Neriaton by absorbing a large quantity of the host body's white blood cells and antibodies, though such an event is extremely rare due to their pack nature.

Mueratos Sorae Neriaton: The final strain of Mueratos, Neriaton is the adult form of Sorae. Extremely difficult to produce, Neriaton is a horrifying creation. One hour after infection, it begins to secrete a toxin that forms tumors on the victim's muscles, all over the body. These tumors burst and hemorrhage when they reach a diameter of one inch, but will burst prematurely if burned. One and a half hours after infection, Neriaton will begin forming a web around the target's heart, with each new strand creating more Soraes. Upon completion of the web, the Neriaton will start leeching oxygen right from the blood, as well as various proteins from the heart walls to create more webbing with. The webbing is highly acidic, and will melt surgical tools as it is cut. Neriaton is the most intelligent of the Mueratos strains, and will move to a different location if it is attacked. If it is allowed to get away without being killed, it will re-create the web, using it to squeeze the heart so that it cannot beat, causing cardiac arrest and, often, death. Once the Neriaton is near death, it will begin to use its five arms to produce long lacerations around itself, most often cutting the heart open. Without adequate medical equipment and skills, Sorae Neriaton is almost surely a death-sentence.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

As a note, I am planning on changing the Sorae Neriaton's name, though I don't know what to yet. Suggestions are welcome.
