All You Wanted (Mokai/Phoenix Princess)
« on: August 29, 2010, 02:00:56 PM »
I wanted to be like you. I wanted everything. So I tried to be like you...

It was cold, and Mokai was alone in the darkness of the empty castle. Night time was here already? And Mokai had nobody to spend the lonely days with. His family and friends wouldn't be born for another hundred years, and here he was, stuck in the past. All because of that stupid time traveling experiment. Stupid K2323. Stupid XANACore.

Because of them, Mokai was in the Genesis Kingdom -- a place that would be destroyed soon enough -- as the king. It was like being the father of a child with a terminal illness... Only Mokai didn't know anyone in this kingdom. The only one he knew was Ararus, the first friend he'd made here, and he was gone now... It was only Mokai. He was a lonely king.

The silence of the room was broken. Mokai, alert, looked up from his place on his cold throne, and... Saw... The Phoenix Princess? The Phoenix King and his family were staying on the castle grounds (alas, in the guest house across the commons area) for the week to discuss the building of the Phoenix Embassy... But what was the princess doing here?

"M'lady," Mokai greeted the princess, "If I may say, you are looking rather... beautiful tonight."

It was true. The princess was wearing a dress, not something you'd expect to be found on a girl who'd been in her bedroom asleep for the night. It seemed that the princess was sneaking in. Mokai couldn't help but grin at the sight of her. Where had she been partying tonight?

"I see you've found Club Dragonfire, hm? Great place."

"Don't tell my father," the princess requested.

"You're nineteen years old, m'lady. Your father doesn't control you."

"You don't understand. I-"

"Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me."

The princess looked at Mokai. She could see a grin in his eyes. He had such confidence, and yet he was so... Withdrawn from everyone else. He was kind and nice, but he was isolated... As if he didn't belong. And something about that made the princess want Mokai...

And I got swept away.

"Come with me," Mokai pleaded, "I want to show you something."

"What?" the Phoenix Princess asked, astonished.

"Just... grab my hand."

Reluctantly, the Phoenix Princess grabbed Mokai's hand as he led her to the throne room's balcony. The two stood there for a moment, looking up at the stars and listening to the sleeping city's peacefulness. If one listened just hard enough, they would be able to hear the distant echoing of music from the clubs in the 'Party' Sector of the Kingdom...

"Hold on," Mokai warned the princess.

"Sure, w-?"

Suddenly, the princess was screaming... As she floated high above the kingdom in the air, suddenly riding... A dragon.

"Mokai?" she asked, looking down at the dragon. As if to reply to her, the dragon took off, flying over the kingdom. She was astonished at the sudden floating through the sky and grabbed onto him tight... And as they floated, she saw the beautiful kingdom from the sky. And it was astonishing, like something out of a story book.

"It's... beautiful."

I didn't know that it was so cold and you needed someone to show you the way.

The dragon soared over the kingdom and surrounding country side for several minutes before he brought the two to a landing point in a valley not too far away from the kingdom, on the other side of the forest... The Era Valley. As he landed on a hill, he began to transform back into a sage, prompting the princess to hop off of his giant dragon form before she crushed his back.

"Well," Mokai said, a bit out of breath, "H-how did you like that?"

"The kingdom's beautiful," the princess remarked.

"Yeah... and it's all mine."

The princess looked over at Mokai, looking him in his eyes. There was sadness in those eyes. He was sad... And she didn't understand why. But she did understand that she wanted to help him. She wanted to show him the way.

So I took your hand and we figured out that when the tide comes I'd take you away.

"Mokai... let's just get up and go somewhere."

"What?"

"You heard me," the princess said, grabbing his hand. "Let's just... fly away. Somewhere. Anywhere. I don't care. Let's just go."

"B-but," Mokai stuttered, "We can't."

"The Genesis Kingdom can go a day without their fearless ruler," the princess protested.

"But what about your dad?"

"What about him?"

"Won't he be mad?"

"It's like you said, Mokai. I'm nineteen years old," the princess protested.

"You seriously want to do this?"

"Yeah."

If you want to, I can save you. I can take you away from here.

The two were floating again, soaring through the sky. In the distance, the skyline of Eta City could be seen... The weekend awaited the two. And there, they'd be alone. Alone with a thousand other people.
And all you wanted was somebody who cares.
