Investigating

The South II's explorers roamed the surface of the fire continent. Some of them melted and were unable to return, others got some basic intel and returned to the South II.

...Actually, they weren't melted, but couldn't leave. Not just yet, anyways. The flames upon the outer parts of the area they arrived, once the drones arrived, exploded skyward and created a dome of flames. Harmless to a Elemental-Fire, but the heat would be great enough to melt a frigate into scrap. Strangely, though, the heat was kept away from the drones, preventing them from being destroyed. It turned out, just as these people were curious about the Elemental Fire, they were curious as well. A few Elemental came towards the drones, maintaining the dome with ease. One of them asked what the flying things were, to which another replied that it must be a Tech-Craft construct. The leader approached the drones, and asked,"Why are you here?"

The drones, ebing created only to record and scan, had no way of communicating with the elementals, but recorded their biology and life signs, and streamed them back to the South II

Learning the drones aren't able to speak, the Elemental sighs, before saying,"Send something with vocal cords next time, would ya? We Elemental are capable of speech, you know, and I was thinking we might be able to talk. The Black rocks're safe for non-Fire-Craft to walk on, so if yer afraid of that, dont be." With that, he and the rest of them dissipated the dome and moved on, ending with,"We'll be waiting. Ain't much to do on lazy dayslike this, anyhow."

The drones left quickly, having recorded their powers, and their words.
