Round 3, Match 1
« on: September 02, 2010, 03:45:49 PM »
"Come forth, next contestants!"

The roar of Lucifer was evident. For some reason, the tournament matchup had been altered...

The next match was Akylos vs. Nisorin.

((Sorry, didn't realize Akylos was yours, thought it was Orph's.))

Nisorin, seeming rather unenthusiastic regarding this next match, simply walks out to stand opposite the doors, swords sheathed and blue crystalline armor shining a bit in the dim light.

A sudden simmer of gold began to pile up in a corner of the arena as the form of Akylos began to rise.

He gives a sort of curt, half-bow, his eyes staying on Akylos'. "I am Nisorin Lertis, leader of the Sons of Plunder. Let's finish this quick, shall we? I'm afraid I'm a bit too busy to play."

"I am Akylos, servant of the Genesis King," the man replied, somewhat awkwardly. Three spikes of gold appeared in his hands which he launched towards Nisorin.

His hand shoots up, firing off a lightning bolt from each finger, using the gold spikes as conduits so that, by the time the bolts reached Akylos, their overall power had decreased far less than if they'd shot through the air, even as he sidesteps the spikes. "Gold conducts electricity quite well."

Akylos easily dodged the lightning and looked dead ahead at Nisorin. "We will have a problem... Collect."

A golden orb of energy appeared, floating in the sky above the two, which began to draw in anything that happened to be around towards it. Akylos focused his own magic on anchoring himself and watched as parts of the ground, the tournament floor included, began to rise towards the ball.

He looks up to the ball and shakes his head. "You'll have to, hmm." He says, cutting himself off as he seems to run something through his mind, even as he's being sucked towards the ball as well. "Fine then. I suppose now is as good a time as any." He adds, looking down at Akylos as if with anticipation. "This should prove to be a productive match." He draws both his swords, the blades gradually tinting a soft blue as great, bluish-silver-plumed translucent wings burst from his back. His armor shatters, spraying out to form a sort of crystal mist and leaving him wearing an undershirt and light pants. He twists at the waist, sending his body spinning as he etches complex lines in the air with his blades, forming gracefully curving runes and glyphs not seen since the fall of the Ancient Relorians. Throughout the entire arena, the air fills with the feeling of something. Some unnamed power, unknown energy, filling the air, charging it as if a storm was brewing.

His grin softens to an expression of peaceful concentration as he connects the final lines of the glyph-cage, just in time for the cage to touch the golden orb. With a sudden implosion of energy that swallows the globe, as well as all that it had sucked in, the cage hardens and covers in the crystalline dust from Nisorin's armor, forming a large, shining teal sphere.

"How interesting," Akylos noted quietly. He smiled as three golden eagles swept down from the skies, having been put there for reserve earlier by Akylos. The eagles swept down towards the sphere. As they got closer to it, its material began to leave the base form of the sphere, breaking up the shape. The material was being absorbed by the eagles.

Laced with the glyph-cage, the material stolen by the Eagles starts consuming them from the inside out. The more of the membrane they absorb, the quicker they're consumed and the faster the rest of the teal sphere is pulled towards the birds. And with every bit consumed, the more intense that sense of something in the air grows. Once the first bird is halfway absorbed, the sphere that is Nisorin distorts, tendrils reaching out to grab hold of the birds and forcibly pull them into the crystalline chamber.

With the birds consumed, the sphere begins to move on Akylos, even ripping a small piece of his sleeve off as it approaches. His voice, tinted with a strange, airy tone to it, sounds out through the arena as if the air itself is his mouth. "Better watch yourself, Akylos, or it'll be over too sooooooooon."

The tendrils, now numbering in the mid twenties, slowly reach out for Akylos, looking to pull him in, to consume him in Nisorin's rebirth.

But the magic of Akylos was now inside the sphere, quickly converting the form of Nisorin. It was changing Nisorin. Making him succumb to the will of Akylos. And most importantly, it was taking away his magic. And the orb wouldn't be able to convert his magic into anything else -- it was fighting.

As the two magics were converting each other, the cycle continues, endlessly until either one decides to cease the cycle. Now connected with Akylos through his own magic, the Golden Sage had fallen into the trap. Having had well over eight years to master his own mind and its errant thoughts, Nisorin's voice sounds within the man's head, slightly distorted from the crystal surrounding his sphere.

"I feel the fire burning in my spirit, sir Sage. Can you? Can you feel the flames of deception swirling about this arena?"

Before he's even halfway finished, Akylos' skin bursts into brilliant blue flame as the invading magic of Akylos' is covered by a cold, blue sheen. The oily magic starts to seep in, pulling at the bits that comprise Akylos' magic, tearing it apart.

Even as the Sage burns, the center of the crystalline orb starts to glow the same blue as the fire, and its surface starts heating up.

A gold fire began to overtake the blue as the fighting forces in the sphere withdrew. With Akylos now covered in a golden fire, he raised his hand and a golden apple shot up, floating towards Nisorin.

With the spell already planted, Nisorin's illusion continues. The golden fire flashes brightly, seeming to fall back into Nisorin's control and turning that fiery blue once more. The flames grow higher and higher, threatening to lick at the Hellfire ceiling. The tendrils once again shoot out from the sphere, the glow inside now shifting about as the arms surround the apple. Instead of absorbing it, however, they pour energy into it, laced with trace amounts of Nisorin's own spirit energy as its shape warps.

And suddenly, in a great flash of light, the fire on Akylos and the sphere and all else besides Akylos himself were pushed away. Akylos had changed. His entire body was coated gray, his entire right arm transformed into a blade. Whatever material he was now made of, it was hard and could not be burned or melted... And in the gray were hints of gold. This was the armor of the Genesis King himself, only transformed to be skin, and improved to be more durable and have less weaknesses.

Akylos began to step forward towards Nisorin, ready to meet him, as he drew back his arm blade and swept it in towards the sphere, the end of it soaked in some sort of liquid, the blade and armor itself to be uneffected by the blue material.

Picking up on the hints of gold, that strange feeling of something finally comes to a crescendo, seeming to press against skin like a pair of balloons inflating around Akylos. The sphere starts sparking violently before unloading a massive lightning bolt at Akylos, attracted even faster and more insistently by the presence of gold in his skin, blinding and deafening the crowd for several moments. The sheer force of the thunderclap shook bits from the ceiling, and a large crack opens up in the crystal. Smaller, spiderweb-like cracks spread throughout the surface as whatever's inside stretches its newfound limbs.

"Come then, Akylos." He calls out, once the echo from the thunder had calmed. "Strike me, and free me."

Before the bolt had even reached Akylos, the liquid from his sword had latched onto the lightning, twisting it, sending it right back at the sphere. More liquid formed on Akylos's blade.

((Request approved, go ahead.))

Inside the sphere, the new form of Nisorin smirks as the lightning bolt hits the sphere, shattering it completely and spreading out over the rest of the arena. With a great groan, he unfurls his new body and stretches, teleporting to the opposite end of the arena mid-stretch. "About damn time. I was starting to get stiff." He says, cracking his neck before taking a quick look at his new body. "You're a lot shorter now." Jokes done with, he sets his new, teal eyes on Akylos. "Let's see what this new body of mine can do, shall we?" Grabbing onto his own wrists, the remains of the crystal as well as the residual electricity from the bolt swarm in on him, forming into two new swords for him to wield. Standing across from Akylos, twin kopeshes at the ready, Nisorin smiles at the Sage. "Come then. I'll let you make the first move."

"I already have," Akylos replied. The moment the lightning had hit the sphere, it had latched onto it, and had as a result latched onto the new form of Nisorin. Now, it was in the simple form of not electricity, but magic. And it was inside the body of Nisorin... Directly attacking his spirit.

At the same time, Nisorin's swords began to dull as the electricity which had helped create them turned into a warping spell.

He crosses his blades slowly, forming them into an X with his hands well over his head, his body leaving a sort of aftertrail as his spirit starts fighting back against the magic, curling around it, using the energy from his Weave to fuel itself as it engulfs the attacking magic, converting and consuming it. His eyes open to stare right into Akylos', shining with a sort of inner fire. "Interesting. Twisting another's magic, forming into something's it's not. Seems to be a specialty of yours, should the legends hold any sort of truth. You would be Midas of human legend, I presume?" Nisorin asks, spreading into a wide stance as a small orb forms in in the curve of the two crossed blades. Adding the lightning was an interesting move, unneeded at the time, but his guess had turned out correct. The crystal blades focused the warping properties into the orb, effectively stealing the spell as it began distorting the nearby light.

"Tis a shame you know so precious little of me." He calls out, funneling the spirit-assaulting magic into the orb as well. He shakes his head as he spins, the ball nestled in the curve of his blade as he flings it like a lacrosse ball, not at Akylos, but at the VIP stand instead. "Tis a shame you allow yourself to be played like a harp at the whims of a single man, old as he may be. The Lord of Hell wouldn't simply give away something stronger than he is. Do you believe you can stand toe-to-toe with him?"

"Midas was my brother," Akylos replied as he began his work. He re-routed his lightning around the fighting spirit and into a physical state in the body, trying to gain a foothold within his brain. "I gained this power from him several centuries after his death at the hands of an embodiment. Foolish humans started a legend that a god turned his ears into donkey ears. The truth is, we were born that way. All of my family was. The embodiment just sealed away his capability of casting the spell which hid his ears."

As the orb flew towards the VIP stands, its pace was slowed considerably as it suddenly caught on fire. The color of the fire was not your typical orange-red. Instead, it was a violet-golden fire. Mind Fire. It would literally melt the brain of whoever it came in contact with, Akylos being the exception as he had casted it and thus had immunity in this instance from its effects. The mind-fire-orb now began to fly back towards Nisorin, its controller altered by the fire which had wrapped itself around the essence of the orb.

"And why do you partake in this tournament if not for the power of Plex? If Lucifer really does have such a power, I think it is our responsibility to take it from him."

Nisorin's own spirit had consumed much of the lightning. Despite the lightning no longer attacking the spirit directly, he continues to use it to devour the lightning he had created, the spell only serving to fuel him further. "Think about it. If Lucifer could use the power of Plex, would he have any need for us? No, he'd simply take the power and use it himself. So, for some reason or another, Lucifer himself is not capable of controlling Plex, and needs us to do it for him. This tournament must simply be a filter to help him choose who his puppet will be." He explains, glancing at the orb as his warping spell starts to tear it apart. "If you want to take a compounded spell over, you'll have to make sure to take over every component, not simply set it aflame." He adds, smiling as the warp spells finally start overtaking the fire, to which he simply encases in a box-shaped barrier large enough to not be affected by the warp spells.

"My reason for this tournament is now half complete, thanks to you. Unfortunately, I still have need of the battles here, and so I will not allow you victory. Come now, Golden Sage Akylos, it's time to end this." Having prepared the energy he needed as he spoke, he takes a spinning step back, his right hand starting to glow blue as his left conjures and throws six small, explosive arrows at Akylos. With another spinning step, he transfers the glow to his left hand as he fires seven concussive bolts at the Sage, one aimed for the ground in front of him to kick up a good deal of dust

Akylos began to coat the arrows and bolts in gold... But it wasn't enough. The bolts and the arrows both pierced right through his skin. Akylos merely grinned as he began to bleed. He looked at Nisorin, nodding his head at the statements of the Relorian. A realization had just hit him. I have no purpose.

And suddenly, Akylos dropped to his knees. He coughed. Blood. The sage was wounded significantly, but it wasn't anything he couldn't patch up himself. However; that wouldn't be necessary. He wouldn't have his powers for very long, anyway -- not now.

"Re...lorian," Akylos muttered. "We must talk. But not here. I am no longer able to fight."

A golden vortex appeared in air. It sucked Akylos in but waited there for Nisorin to follow.

He walks up to the horizon of the vortex, anchoring his feet to the floor with every step. With a wince and a growl, he pauses just before entering. Instead, he forms a sphere in his right hand, injecting into it a telepathic message.

Code: [Select]
It would seem an emergency has come up. I will join you shortly, but I must take care of this before anything. I apologize.
Once spelled and inscribed, he tosses the orb through the vortex and walks away from it. Forming a bit of crystal from his own plates, he holds it out to the vortex as he seals the portal to the crystal, so he can call upon it when he is ready. Nisorin crouches low, closing his eyes as he weaves a forced-teleportation spell with a potentially moving target: Celestie. Within a few minutes, he disappears with a shockwave engulfing the arena.

But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.
