Another Contract

A transmission would reach the Dark Heart. A job offer of sorts but with a message in it. Yet it seemed to come from a hidden asteroid with it's own atmosphere and everything around it. Yet who could possibly live there?  Lord Montreal was scouting for soldiers.

Before I can determine whether or not you are fit to take this job that I am offering, I have devised a series of tests. If you can win without the use of technology then so be it, you will have the job. If not I will mindwipe you of this transmission and wipe your ship's computers clean of this transmission as well. Are you interested?

"Nope." was their response. Who needs tests?
They also readied defenses in their computers against any possible hacking, as well as their minds against wipes.

Their defiance. It reminded him somewhat of his soldiers when they had originally been drafted. They could be used as reliable weapons perhaps then. So a second transmission came.

You each will gain more proficiency with magic than you currently hold along with each of you getting your weight in gold if you come to these coordinates to do a job. Coordinates of an empty valley hidden on a remote planet were displayed on screen immediately.

Lord Montreal knew now that these mercs were to be trusted and so he sent a third transmission.

Even though I can only pay you by passing on what I know of magic and by creating credits for you, would it be worth you doing a job for me? I find that with the older I get, the more I need to spread the techniques I alone possess....so that they don't die out when I die and I have chosen you mercenaries as the ones to be the reicipients of said techniques if you are willing to accept of course.”

The mercs then would not make good heirs to the fist techniques and so the transmission ended. A sorrowful melody could be heard all throughout their ship as if the sender of the transmission was sorry for them for some reason..
