The Hand of Plunder
« on: September 14, 2010, 09:51:36 PM »
One of the four Corvettes fades into view high above the planet, floating peacefully as its occupant prepares for departure. The cargo door opens, and he quite literally jumps out, casting six layers of barriers to keep him from burning up in the atmosphere as he descends for a clearing near the Zarethian colony closest to the Sage Hall.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

The Zarethian colonists scattered and set up a particle and AM field to deal with this threat, whatever it was. Addler vas Vacol gathered a group of his marines with him, in case it tried to attack. It could never be a normal day for him, could it? Nope, apparently not. He had been sent to the colonies to oversee some defense building. Here was his chance.

The moment the AM field touched it, his AAM cross flares into life, projecting its field to counter the AM 'abomination.' The man, however, simply stands there, shield strapped to his arm but sword yet sheathed. "Why must people invade sacred ground?" He asks himself, shaking his head as he looks upon the colony.

Addler walked up to him, cautiously. "Sacred ground, sir? This planet was unowned and unknown to us. Why is it sacred, and who are you?"

"There is a building already here on this planet, one of great power. I had thought to come here to take control of some of its power, but you may already have tapped into it" He says, looking around at his less-than-friendly welcome. "My name is Verrtsi Trolec."

Addler certainly didn't know what he was talking about. He knew of the flying building but not much. "That building...?" He asked, pointing at the building floating above them to the west. "We haven't touched it. We knew it was magic, but we didn't really want to disturb it. My name is Addler vas Vacol. I am the leading Zarethian official here." he held out his hand for a shake.

Verrtsi stares at the man's hand, obviously not familiar with the concept of a handshake. "Well then, if that's the case, I'll just pay it a visit and be on my way. I'm sure you colonists have too much to do to help me." He says, offering a curt bow before turning towards the Hall.

Addler awkwardly puts his hand down. "Hold on." He says "What is it that you want to do with the power in that place?" He asked the strange man curiously.

"A war is brewing, Sir Vacol. A war that will likely engulf the Kalak galaxy. My organization does not wish this to happen. We've become rather fond of this place, and so we are not going to give it up to those who cut us off from life, blind us of our senses. Much like yourselves." He answers, pointing towards the main area of the colony, the most likely place for the AM generator(s). "Those fields blind mages, cut them off from what makes them who they are. They are a blight, and a cowards weapon. There are those who wish to engulf the entirety of the galaxy in those fields, and they have even taken over one of the most beloved places to all mages to do it. Needless to say, this cannot be allowed. Now please, move your men aside before I press the issue."

Addler nodded, he met such people before. "You did not know then, that I myself, am a mage? A rather strong one at that. This... field generator." He said, gestruring towards the Am generator. "Is a protection. A safeguard against magical threat that the normal colonists, who most only have the ability to light a cooking fire, could not hope to overcome. These devices are a neccesary evil, not something we normally wish to use, but something that can and will help us to overcome obstacles and terrorists that come to destroy us."

He chuckles and shakes his head, looking around at the meager bunch. "A colony not adequately protected is a colony soon to be dead. Always bring along competent mages, at least enough for cloaking spells."

"They wouldn't need to be. Glamour and invisibility runes are relatively simply to draw, and can be altered to cover either single buildings, or entire colonies, with only a moderate amount of magical skill." He replies, turning back to face the Hall once more. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I must be off."

OOC: Stinkin Nisorin.... makin my character look like a fool.... Stinkin not having magical RP experience despite the Zarethians being master mages..... *grumble grumble*

'You've been cleared to leave, though you obviously don't need my permission to do so. Just don't go killing the colonists or trying to take over the dimension, ok?" Addler joked halfheartedly.

He quickly forms a pair of wings from barrier similar to the ones that protected him from the atmospheric-entry heat, and flew off to the Sage Hall. There, he flew around the building, looking for any sort of entrance.

((Anyone going to NPC the Hall, since it'll probably have some sort of defenses?))

The Relorian religious leader lands a few feet into the entrance hallway, dispelling the wings and drawing his sword. "I call upon you and your power. There are those who seek to subjugate magic, suppress it out of fear of our power. Already they have made technological abominations that destroy magic near them." He calls out, walking out into the main hall. "They have falsely imprisoned the Phoenix Sage, kidnapped her children. By now, they have probably slaughtered them. Their crimes are no longer forgivable."

It wasn't so much a voice. Instead, it was a telepathic sensation. Like a loud noise in his brain, thoughts began to flood the mind of the Relorian religious leader.

"Aralangs?"

"Aye. Those who aren't even native to this place, yet dare to intrude on everything they can." He answers, only allowing himself a moment's hesitation at the odd sensation.

"I will lend you... My power."

An aura began to surround the Relorian. It would cause an EMP effect to anyone around the Relorian, shutting down their technologies. It would also only allow those with magic to get within a few feet of him. The Relorian now had the powers of the Sage Hall's barrier.

((Oooooooh sweet!))

He bows low, sheathing his sword with a flourish as he walks out of the hall. "With this, their fate is assured." He muses, flexing his sword hand as he heads back to his ship.
