Waiting for Orders
« on: January 07, 2010, 04:55:36 PM »
For the past three years, Benjamin had been hiding in the shadows of the Legacy Empire, always kept behind the scenes. This had aggravated him to the point of near insanity. So many times it was hard to restrain himself from squeezing the life out of every miserable member of this pathetic empire... But that's where the xPod came in.

It replaced Nikariam as well as it could. The music it produced into his wireless ear buds soothed his soul by filling it with the emotion of the singer. Human music was his favorite. It had so much petty emotion, but he could never feel love. It deepened his hatred well soothing his soul.

However, on a couple of occasions not even the xPod could keep him back. That's probably why he was transferred to Magimeta, where he could do no harm, to "Await further command." These people made him sick, he hated them.

But he stuck around for a good reason...

Avidan appeared on Magimeta seconds later and said to Benjamin South "My master wishes me to train you in Negion and many other things of magic. He wishes me to have you fully prepared for magic training. " Avidan then tossed a spell book of Negion that he had wrote to Benjamin. "Try casting the basic spells such as healing, levitation and shields. Once you get done casting those let me know. "

He found Benjamin passed out on a reclining chair, laying on the arms. His Jakleauti was placed on the back of the chair, and he was still wearing his Spacefarers. The book hit his chest with a thud and Benjamin suddenly awoke.

"Eh? Wazzat?"

"You are to read the first 5 chapters of this book and practice casting those spells listed in the first five chapters of the book. " said Avidan."Gallaghar's orders. He wants me to prepare you for the front lines. " He then said to Benjamin South "You want to know something. I have been ordered to bring you up to speed for battle. I have also been ordered to have you give me a tour of Pax and gather as many of your people as I possibly can. Gallaghar wants an army."

Benjamin set the Spacefarer's to transparent lenses and thumbed through the book. His SPLITTER gloves blades extracted and he diced it into a hundred pieces.

"I'm already ready for the front line." A hit on the knob put his shade lenses back to black as he leaned back on the chair.

"You don't understand us Bellicus. We don't learn other magic, we don't learn through books. It's all in here." Benjamin touch his heart as he retracted his glove blades.

"My people have rejected me. I committed Genocide to the only Humans to ever reach our planet. To them, I'm a monster, and no, I will not make them fight for you." He nestles his head on the chair. "Anything else?"

Misty Tendrils of energy enveloped both Benjamin and Avidan forming a message from Gallaghar. Avidan then said to Benjamin "He wishes us to prepare an army for invasion of Novasia. He has also told me in no uncertain terms to obliterate all the sentient trees there.  He has told us first though to go to Pax and see how many Bellicus I can round up to help with the invasion of Novasia. He wants highly trained mages and even with his sages, there are still not enough to handle all of those sentient trees. He wants you to act as the Ambassador to the Bellicus. While you do that, I have been assigned to do something else entirely. Something that may or may not rekindle the love in your heart."  said Avidan

As he gestured letting the tendrils of mist fade by forcing Negion to eradicate the message Gallaghar had sent to them, Avidan then removed his sword and said to Benjamin. "Gallaghar wanted you taught to fight with a proper sword. "

In a flash, Benjamin's faithful Last Justice staff was in his had, he swung wildly and hit the barrier protecting Avidan.

"I dare you, to speak of my love off this planet. I will kill you. My love is none of your business. Swordplay is no equal to Nikariam and never will be. Besides, what use do I have for swordplay? Do you think me a fool? Our enemies have guns and bombs. I can challenge any swordsman with these gloves and this staff. Your Empire is walking on thin ice with me. I will not go back to my planet."

"Then we must prepare for invasion of Novasia. I need to have Novasia conquered easily. "  said Avidan "And can I rely on you to assist if I fail in my plans?"

"Soon enough. However there is a problem to any invasions of Novasia. It is simply Sentient Trees. The problem is that they always can block us, even when we use defoliant bombs on them. They constantly regenerate and Gallaghar is reluctant to allow us to use mages or sages to invade until all the sentient trees are removed permanently." said Avidan. He had bad experiences of leading the force that had attempted to conquer Novasia. He knew Gallaghar would be incensed if there was a second failure and damn, he wasn't going to allow that to occur. No sir. He was sick of failure.

"How many of your troops are on the surface right now?" Benjamin asked, removing his shades, standing up and looking thoughtful.

"Zero. Gallaghar won't send any until he can be assured something can be done about the canopy of trees covering that world and blocking teleports into it. He has had to use portals. He sent thousands of Defoliant bombs, but the trees kept healing themselves much to his dismay as well as my own. Apparently what we need to do is strike the planet from within somehow, but how to pull off such a spell?"

"I've got an idea that just might work. The Imbellis were nature lovers, we Bellicus developed some ways of destroying their nature for intimidation purposes. Let me land, and get ready to have your troops follow me immediately. I don't want any of them on the surface Until I tell you to go and secure a perimeter. Understand?"

"Oh Yes. I understand. How will we keep the planet itself from retaliating against us though? That is Gallaghar's main concern since his sages were 'eaten'  by that planet and he doesn't wish a repeat of an earlier performance. "  said Avidan

"If my plan works, I will destroy a big clearing of the trees securing a circular perimeter. I make a magic barrier and hold it for as long as I can. Open a portal in the barrier, thne have your men set up a physical barrier. This will establish a foot hold for your troops. Do you understand my strategy?"

"Yes. "  (http://galacticempires.raylon.org/index.php?topic=165.msg2286#new, read this to learn about the attack) "I understand alright. "said Avidan. He then mentally told the plan to Gallaghar who agreed. "Gallaghar accepts the plan. He has given you command of 30,000 sages for the invasion. They aren't bellicus but he hopes you can command them quickly. "

"Tell those sages to be ready to warp on my spot the second I call for them. They can track my presence by the book I will have on me, it's a powerful teleportation book."

"Alright,  and he has also instructed me to give you this. " Avidan removed his animite and uttering a charm around it using Negion handed it to Benjamin. "This will allow you to summon Animite Creatures to help you if the sages donot arrive in time. "

Avidan then formed another animite in his hand by making a diamond appear and then adding merely a hint of magic and exposing it to the sunlight of this world causing it to glow with magic. "There. My new Animite is ready. "

Avidan then teleported away using his magic. He would await the attack on Novasia and have a clone there ready in case the plan failed to make Gallaghar less angry. A blight spell would cause all those trees to be permanently scarred out of existence or at least unable to be controlled by whatever force was driving them to hassle Gallaghar.

With a gesture of his hand, the door closed and locked. His windows closed shut. He clicked his shades to red lenses, as they helped him concentrate on this sort of magic. His put on his Jakleauti, and opened the Ex Omni to the point he knew well: interplanetary travel. Because the book lost it's power the further away from Pax it got, he couldn't land in any specific spot on the planet, but that was okay, he didn't need to land anywhere in particular.

He sat down cross legged, and began to concentrate.  Suddenly, he pulled back his sleeve and said, "God damned Bellicus, by Sophia Savage." His xPod flashed, "Song recognized." Seconds later, it began blaring heavy rock. Soon the female vocalist started screaming about her hatred of the Bellicus and the crimes they've done to nature.

It made him angry. Misinformed, Imbellis, tree-hugging swine. It brought up the perfect type of anger for the magic he was to perform. Then, he began to think, about being undergrounf. The hideous, awful feeling of dirt under every fingernail, covered in mounds of it, and the weight of the dirt. The feeling of a wooden root.

Dark red energy began to glow from inside of him. He knew he was ready. He clutched the book, and said the words.

He teleported out of the room, to Nosvasia, as the red glow vanished.
