Suddenly, spontaneously out of midair appeared Benjamin, who hit the ground with a silent thud. The Sophia Savage song was still blaring in his wireless head phones, with a scream of rage, he dug the flat end of his staff into the surface, going through the ground, until there was a thud. Bingo. he though, A root.
The trees reacted to his appearance, but not fast enough. With a scream of rage, his glowing red energy siphoned through his staff into the ground, making contact with the root. Suddenly, the ground shook suddenly and strongly, like an earth quake was brewing. Underground, the glowing red energy was spreading every where, jumping root too root until every tree in a 1000 foot radius was glowing.
Their roots ignited, dislodging them from the ground. They began to topple over, lose balance and fall as the disintergrating heat worked its way up from their roots up to their branches. Benjamin shouted, "Bookmark 12, now!" his xPod chimed, "Reading."
In his ears blared music from earth. It was a sudden, break down in the middle of a world famous spazz rock band. On earth it was voted one of the most inspiring music moments of all time. The subtle vocals with the kick drum driving it became the back drop to Benjamin's mind, he pulled the staff from the ground, and the chaotic inspiration egging him on, raised the staff and siphoned a barrier spell through it. A bubble of blue magic energy appeared in the 1000 foot area his spell had infected, keeping the living trees out. Those infected by the spell were mostly consumed by the burning flame.
He tapped into his dwindling energy and sent a message, "Send the sages NOW! I can't hold them much longer!"
