Visit to the lair of the Locust
« on: September 18, 2010, 03:15:16 PM »
As a massive light in space began to show a wormhole ripped open, what came through it was a small contingency of Archive ships, the Omega, ADF Castor, and ADF Pollux. The two capital classes appearing rather silly near the massive form of the titan. Turning and looking at his superior the Commander sighed, Abel had ordered that they at least try to make a diplomatic mission towards the Lorcar, otherwise he wouldn't feel right when they began their offensive measures.

"If the psychic signatures go over the threshold active the pysc-shield, these entities appear to be only able to communicate through psychic measures." Abel commanded as he looked down at the planet below, turning as his translator appeared. A rather young Noverian who had joined up with the Archive not soon after they had made contact.

"Send the message please." Abel requested, the Noverian nodded looking towards the nearest bioship.

We come in peace.
"Don't you think that was a bit of a cliche introduction Abel?" The Commander smiled under his helmet, chuckling as he kept his eyes focused on the bioship Abel shrugged.

The Bioship had spread the message to the others, and they all turned their heads to the small fleet. They were a bit confused by the message...Most of the time, when something came near their homeworld, it was to attack. And this intrigued them, at least enough not to throw them out of the system or crumble them into a small little ball. They sent back a small Psychic pulse, carrying their message.

We've come to communicate, to understand one another.

The Noverian was rather awed as he felt the psychic power of the creatures he was communicating with, he understood that they could attack at anytime. "Sir, we've received a response, I've already sent an appropriate reply."

Again, they were a bit confused, but now mostly curious. This was new to them, and they wanted to learn what was going on. They were insects, but they were sentient. After discussing it for a few moments amongst each other, they sent out a response.

"How can we be sure that you are to be trusted?"

You cannot in the way we are currently, we also took a risk to come here, if you hadn't decided to reply and had attacked.. My superior suggests a meeting between both of our leaders, on the planet below, where you are in the most control.

Abel kept a smile on his face as he focused on the planet below, various reports and announced that it was highly toxic and full of dangerous air-borne diseases. All of which would be rather ineffective against Abel, seeing as he could just place a spell upon himself to protect himself from foreign invaders, and a spell that allowed for oxygen interdependency was very novice.

They were unsure of what to make of this. On one hand...They could easily overpower most foes, if there was only a small amount, so a trap wouldn't seem effective. On the other...They could be sincere. And then again, there was the matter of the toxic atmosphere...But they could deal with that. They discussed it again for a bit, and came to a conclusion. First, though, they contacted the King, and told him. Delton seemed surprised...But he agreed to at least see if they were sincere.

"Our king has agreed to your terms. However, our planet's air is full of toxins. Unless your leader has some way of keeping them from affecting it, they may die. If not, we can lower the toxicity over the course of a few hours, to a tolerable level to suit its survival.

The toxins in your atmosphere have already been noted, our leader will be rather immune to them. Please designate a location in which the meeting will take place.

"They've agreed to a meeting, waiting for precise location now." The translator informed, Abel's grin widening as he cast the necessary spells needed to survive on the planet below, it looked as if he did nothing, but truly they were such a low level magic that it didn't require much concentration.

"Simply land near the palace, you will then be shown inside."

That was all they replied, then moving away from each other to provide room for a vessel to get closer.

Our leader will not be using a vessel, in fact he has already arrived at the palace.

The Noverian was rather shocked when he saw Abel disappear as he teleported to the planet below. Abel however seemed incredibly interested in the amount of biotechnology around him, kneeling down and even picking up a handful of the dirt he shrugged as he tasted it, spitting it out rather quickly. "Blah..tastes like skin." Was all that left his mouth before the Noverian appeared next to him, the same spell casted on him as Abel had.

"Please warn me before you decide to teleport me from orbit.. It's quite a surprise." The Translator informed as Abel just shrugged off his request.

This confused the Lorcar. They hadn't anything like teleportation or the such, and so they were puzzled as to how he'd have gotten there. Still, he was there, so there wasn't much they could do(aside from trying to tear him apart, but that still wouldn't work well anyway, what with the other fleet there). A couple of Worker-Caste saw him and approached by crawling on the walls, their scythed tails being used to stab into the wall and keep them from falling off, and regarded the being with puzzlement. They soon went back to work, however, as they weren't really powerful Psykers, and so wouldn't have a good method of conveying their questions anyway. All around them, various Lorcar could be seen performing their own various tasks that each was bred to be able to do with near-perfect harmony. A single Lorcar, a Soldier-Caste, showed up to lead them inside.

"Amazing, as expected they work in tandem much like other insect colonies. Each and every form as it's own function." Abel commented as he and the translator followed the Soldier-Caste, breathing in the air around him with a grimace as he tasted it, the magic destroyed the toxins before they had any chance of doing any harm. "Quite the lethal cocktail they have going on in this atmosphere, if anyone tried to invade without prior knowledge it would be a disaster." He said as he stuck out his tongue at the bitter and rather disgusting taste of the toxins.

They arrived to the King, who regarded them warily. He walked over to them, walking on what looked like clawed feet, four massive bone blades nearby, one for each arm. He was really unsure how to proceed; diplomacy obviously wasn't his strongsuit, and the last time he'd trusted other being he hadn't himself crafted, he almost ended up dead. He decided to wait, and let the others take lead with this.

Greetings, I will be the translator for the duration of our conversation. This man next to me is Abel, leader of a inter-dimensional organization known as the Archive. We've encountered your species multiple times before, most of which ended with causalities on both sides. If you wish for a more convient way of discussing all you have to do is make physical contact with Abel's right arm, it will allow for a convergence of your separate minds.

The Translator informed, turning to look at Abel as he reached out with his skeletal arm. A slight grin on his face.

He thought for a bit, trying to decided whether it'd be safe. While he had the full force of the Lorcar there, there was no way of knowing if this was a safe choice. What if they could disable the full force of the Lorcar mind?
But then, he'd never know if he didn't try...And if they were honest...Then The Brood King, Delton, could trust someone...
He took the being's hand, unsure of what would happen next...

Without as much as a blink Abel ripped Delton's spirit from his body, but only slightly, to a point where the King of the Lorcar was but dipping his toes in the ocean of spirit's trapped within Abel's arm. Constructing what appeared to be a physical area. It was simple and quickly made, nothing more then a bright white marble platform floating above what appeared to be the manifestation of Abel's store of spirits. A screaming maelstrom of minds, aware of where they where and unable to do anything about it. All of them piling upon each other as they tried to reach out towards the plat form, but as they were insubstantial they just merged and fell through each other, in an infinite cycle of desperation.

Standing there was Abel, stark naked.

Welcome to my mind, Delton is it? Sorry if intruding into your head may of been a little bit impolite, but it's a drawback of creating a situation like this.. My arm has never been used in such a way, it in truth is a weapon, used for stealing the spirits of those who touch it. But as we had no way of effectively communicating this was an option. Even if I had accidentally ripped your consciousnesses from your head I would've been very much able to put it back. So, no worries there. Here, to make it fair have some of my memories.

As he 'said' that he began to channel hundreds of his own personal memories into that of Delton's mind, his past up until he founded the Archive, being careful not to give away anything that would jeopardize the Archive's security though.

The spirit of the Lorcar species, this was Delton. The spirit itself did not look like a Lorcar at all, actually, but rather another form of being. It was humanoid, but had a greenish tint to the skin, its hair was violet, and rather than nails, it possessed claws. The form was genderless, a rather even mix of male and female features. It looked around the vast sea of spirits with somewhat of a indifference. A normal mind probably wouldn't be able to handle the mass of information coming its way in such time, but Delton's wasn't normal. Since this was the spirit of the Lorcar species, it contained all their memories, experienced all they did, all at once. Even so, the memories of before they had taken Maltruse were the most prominent in its mind, while the rest had little meaning. These new memories, they were informative, and Delton did commit each to memory...But he would not care for the memories themselves, only the information they conveyed. Witht hem, he felt a kinship towards abel, as they both experienced that of many others on a regular basis.

"So...You are the leader of those forces, and the one who controls this form?" Delton asked, giving a slight bow.

Correct, this is the mass of minds I've collected, this arm doesn't just kill the person it's touching, but also the infinite number of parallel versions of the original entity. My name is Abel, which you already know due to the memory transfer. I must say your species has intrigued me to no end since we discovered on of your orbital drops pods floating through the void of space, we've even created a armor that has some of your caste's DNA in it to allow for the ability to manipulate enemy minds. Although I felt it would be a shame if we had to..end your race without trying diplomacy first, so here we are.

Abel smiled as he turned and looked down at the maelstrom below him, shrugging before he turned back and walked towards Delton. Stopping only a few feet in front of him he held out his now normal right arm.

It's customary as a greeting for my culture to shake hands, as a sign of mutual respect.

"A rather odd custom, though I suppose ours aren't any more normal to you." Delton replied, a look of curiousity crossing his face as he took Abel's hand and shook it a few times. It looked up, contemplating the idea, before saying,"Diplomacy is a rather new concept to me. I do not trust others easily. But you...Are similar. Not in background, but your being, your comprehension of the knowledge of others. I know all of the Lorcar, for we are all one. That is why I can trust them, my children. And while you are not Lorcar, I now know you, and so I feel that I can trust you as well. I hope that it is well placed."

We of the Archive do not betray, it's written in our rules not to.. And I should know, because I wrote the rules. And I must agree that we share a form of kinship, although yours is a hive-mind and my own..situation is somewhat more violent. All these souls, all these minds scream and tear at my own, it's taking a rather large chunk of my strength to hold them back as we speak right know. Lest we be drowned in an ocean of consciousness. There is but one thing I must say before we end this convergence, you must hold back from attacking anymore populated worlds. The universe is beginning to become aware of itself, and the civilizations that live here are either becoming enemies or allies. It's not a large leap to think that if you rub someone wrong way they may go get their friends. If you wish we could come up with a way to supply you with biomatter in a more..peaceful way then harvesting worlds. Smiling widely as he let go of Delton's hand before he twitched slightly as the edges of the marble platform began to crack and fall into the ocean below, closing his eyes as he strengthened his own will to hold back the mass of minds.

"A rather odd request...But, one I can honor. I shall harvest the worlds of my enemies in times of war...That, I will not deny my people. But, in the interest of our alliance...I shall refrain from attacking other worlds that have not called our attack." Delton said, as the platform crumbled and went back to his body. His form blinked, and then nodded slightly, before he went to his throne, and sent a psychic pulse. The Lorcar all seemed to respond, seeming to hesitate for a second, as if listening intently to something, then resumed their work. To the Novierian, it would seem to be just static. But it was much more to the Lorcar...

Abel smiled as the marble platform began to dissolve and finally gave way, leaving him falling into the maelstrom of spirits, each grabbing onto him and trying to steal the light of his control away, trying to steal his body for their own uses. But he was so used to it that he just floated there, slowly sinking more and more into the ocean. Glowing slightly as his own mind began to repel that of the ones around him, in a constant struggle for the right to his own body, the right to his own mind. It was the curse of his arm, to never rest, to never truly get a break. Trapped in an infinite cycle.

With that his eyes opened as he turned to look a the palace around him. "Commander, please beam me up. I'm about to lose control, and that would be rather embarrassing to do such here." Abel said into his QEB communicator, it took but a split second before he was beamed up to the Omega, Nilgaitt coated cuffs were placed upon him immediately. With that Abel's mind lapsed into the ocean, another personality taking control over his body. This one was that off some kind of infomercial salesmen..who insisted on trying to rip off a nearby technicians head.

Abel is exhausted from the effort of joining your minds, he is not used to holding back so many spirits for such a wide berth of mental space. We will be taking our leave.

With that the Noverian was beamed up as well, leaving a small QEB device on the ground next to him, along with a delayed psychic message.
